Blehhh. If the Foundation Room in New Orleans is the Ruth's Chris and the Foundation Room in Chicago is the Morton's, the Foundation Room in Boston is the Burger King. And that might be pushing it, because no matter what you order at the bar, you are not going to get it your way - right away. The music was bad. This is the House of Blues people, at the very least you should play good music in your foundation room. But no, 80's rock rules Boston and Elton John and Journey were the high points. Food: Gross. Cold apps. Dry pasta. Undercooked meat. Drinks: One was great tasting, but had a serious lack of booze. One was strong, but tasted like vomit. Atmosphere: Needs a pick-me-up. Carpets and tapestries were quite raggedy. Service: Joke. Waitress would visit the table across from us 4-5 times for every time she visited us. Slow with drinks. Bad explanations. Gorgeous and exclusive. Not the best Foundation room, but a good one. Fun on game nights, but wish that they didn't always eliminate the good food options and replace everything with crappy hot dogs. Amazing private rooms, good servers and bar tenders. Awesome for special events or a just an over-the-top night out. Amazing ambiance. So gorgeous. P.S. my server Mia took wonderful care of me and my party in our private room. She even got non-alcoholic drinks for the babies in our group (private function before regular bar hours) and tons of wine for us "babysitting." It's really beautiful inside but drinks are outta control overpriced. I guess these are the *perks* that come with this VIP deal @ Foundation Room. A single redbull & vodka will run you $14 bucks per drink, beers are $8, a shot of whisky is $10 bucks.. be prepared to spend a lot of money on drinks. read more

Valentine's Day Dinner from Hell! First off: I am pretty easy to please and almost never complain about anything at restaurants - I don't like to be annoying and realize that wait staff has a stressful job. However, this experience was so bad that I just have to warn others. Service: Our waitress was extremely slow and would offer to refill drinks or bring us bread, and then return 20 minutes later empty-handed, then remember what she had offered, and then another 10 minutes come back with it. Terribly slow service. Drinks: They were out of the wine I asked for (it took them 20 minutes to let me know) and so they replaced it with a different kind, which was good. However I couldn't try it the first time they served it to me because the glass was really, really dirty with lip and finger stains. I alerted the waitress and she said, "Oh, geez, we've been having a problem with that lately." (Yikes!!!) To their credit, they gave me the glass for free, but it made me wary of all the other dinnerware I was given. Food: Terrible. I ordered the lamb, and the waitress recommended it medium-rare. I said that was fine - like I said, I am easy to please - and it came out basically raw. Extremely red. I decided to try it because again, I don't like to give people a hard time, and it was the consistency of jelly. I'm hoping you can't get as terribly sick from eating raw lamb as you can from eating raw chicken or pork. Yikes. My husband had the steak which was just OK. The waitress highly recommended the veggie of the night, steamed green beans, she said it was "extremely delicious", so we also ordered that with dinner and I can't figure out how anyone with a tongue or mouth would think those beans were "extremely delicious". They were overcooked and not seasoned at all - AT ALL. The best thing we ate was probably the bread they brought out 25 minutes after offering it. The waitress then told us about the dessert menu, highly recommending one of the items (which I happen to love), so I ordered it, and then she came back to tell us that they had also run out of that. Overall it was pretty bad. Terribly slow service + dirty wine glass + raw lamb = saddest Valentine's Day Dinner ever. read more

While I love the room for drinks and pre concert chatter, the food and food service is terrible. I see so many comments go into detail so I won't bother, just do not go for the food as there are so many good restaurants in the area. This is unfortunate as the dining area is lovely and they could do so much with it if they gave a shit. I was an avid concert goer when I lived in the NYC area for years. The House of Blues was my first concert since moving up to Boston. I had mezzanine GA tickets and positioned myself where I thought I'd be able to get a glimpse of the stage, but soon, despite my decent height, I couldn't see a thing. Not everyone can afford to pay top $$$. At any rate, as luck would have it, I found myself speaking with Jonathan A.J. Lewis, the VIP Host and he obviously understood that as a newcomer to a venue, that first experience sets the stage for whether or not you'll be returning customer. There are venues I've been to in the past that not even my love for the band would have me going back. Jonathan made sure that my boyfriend and I had an epic experience and we even had the luxurious opportunity to go to the Foundation room after the show and meet the band! If I had the money to spend for a membership, it is generous, empathetic and professional hosts like Jonathan who would encourage me to join--- he makes you want to pay it forward. The hospitality here was perfection right from the start! My girlfriend and I based our whole trip to Boston around the concert we saw last night. Not knowing the venue and what to expect, I went on yelp and was glad to find some tips from some other yelpers. If you have dinner or hang out at the foundation room you can avoid a long line at a sold out show. We bought the standard general admission tickets, but there was also a dinner option that we didn't choose. This didn't seem to matter as we walked up to the foundation room where we met Jonathan. The most courteous, he showed us around the whole room which was beautiful and explained to us the advantages. If you're going to see a show at the house of blues it's the best way to go, a private bar and bathroom, and couches to lounge a relax on. He then walked us up to the bar and introduced us to Derek, one of the bartenders. Derek took care of us with enthusiasm all night. The show was great, we were able to hang out in the foundation room after and was able to meet the artist! Jonathan, Derek, and all of the staff really made us feel like royalty when we were just a couple in our mid 20's that we're excited to see a show. For that I am extremely grateful. read more

I am a Boston local and frequent the House of Blues for electronic music concerts. There is almost always a free after party in the foundation room after the concerts, which I always attend. The space is beautiful and the staff is great! One person stands out by far though and this person is Jonathan. I met Jonathan about a year ago the firs time i went to the foundation room. Since then he has always remembered my name and everything about me! Jonathan always goes above and beyond for his patrons at the foundation room. He is one of the kindest and most positive people I have ever met and I consider him a friend now. I always look forward to the next time I get to chat with him! I know that many other people also feel this way about him. He definitely knows how to please his customers. 5 starts to the foundation room and 5 stars to Jonathan, though I would give him 10 if I could! read more

A fantastic night in the Foundation Room before and after the Mighty Mighty Bosstones show on Monday 12/28. Customer service specifically from Jonathan Lewis who is a VIP Host there was excellent. This is my first review on Yelp ever, so that alone should say something. A bunch of friend's and I had tickets to see a concert at the House of Blues for Friday night, and a dear friend of mine was able to get access for us at the Foundation Room through her job. I didn't know what to really expect, but as soon as we got there we knew it was going to be an epic night. The hospitality crew could not have been any more accommodating, kind, and made us feel like were a part of something really special. The gentleman who greeted us and acted as concierge, Jonathan, could be the coolest person on the face of the planet. He remembered all of our names throughout the night, helped in a monumental effort to help my friend find her lost phone, and went above and beyond in every imaginable way. He is responsible for the majority of these stars. The place itself is phenomenal, and if you are there to see a concert, it's definitely an amazing way to start and finish the night. Hopefully Jonathan and his crew are there to push it over the top! 5 Stars for sure! read more

I have maintained my House of Blues Foundation Room membership through my company for over 6 years now. I was originally based out of Dallas, TX and loved bringing customers to shows at the historic White Swan Building. Though the venue was excellent, I was not overly impressed with the service. Given the cost of the membership, I was expecting more of a VIP experience. I attended shows at multiple HOB locations and had similar unfulfilling experiences with the Foundation Room service. I just recently relocated to Boston, MA and strongly considered ending my Foundation Room membership, but decided to give the Boston location a shot. The Foundation Room employee that night was Jonathan A.J. Lewis. He absolutely revitalized my excitement for the HOB Foundation Room and I will soon be renewing my membership with Jonathan at the Boston House of Blues location. I believe he is currently a Foundation Room host, but his demeanor and customer service were far superior to any manager I have encountered at any other location (5) I have been to. He went above and beyond the entire evening to make sure all of our needs were met and did an excellent job livening up my customer guests to ensure they had the best night possible. We have already purchased/reserved tickets to nearly 20 shows in the next 5 months primarily because Jonathan does such an incredible job. It is very difficult to find employees in this workforce that genuinely share the same love and passion for a business as the owner (CEO/President). I truly hope the HOB understand how valuable a resource Jonathan is and how lucky they are to have him as part of their organization. read more
