We had a great dinner! The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the drinks were perfect. We highly recommend if you are in the Derry area, right on the main stretch. The outside dining area is a great place for drinks, inside is quiet and nice for conversation and dinner. We had reservations but were running late so ended up cancelling and still being seated.

This was what takeout looked like $29 Salmon was way overcooked and that plate is just an embarrassment!

Not a Good experience. Try to order a chicken sandwich and ask for it to be grilled instead of fried and they could not accommodate. Did take out the portions were extremely small very expensive and not cooked well at all.

We decided to stop in on our way up north. It was not far off the highway and it happened to be in a very cute downtown area that we would have loved to explore if we weren't trying to get somewhere. I had a glass of the New Zealand Sauvignon blanc which was quite tasty and my husband got a Peroni Zero. The atmosphere was very cozy with low lighting and lots of wood. They state they are farm to table and it seems they are. I ordered the Duck Risotto which included a confit Duck leg, smoked parsnip purée, chestnut and Guanjillo pepper pesto. The taste was amazing and there was a slight spicy kick that i enjoyed. My husband ordered the Bolognese which had a great homemade pasta, beef and pork, pecorino and farm basil. He said it tasted great and the potion size left room for dessert. We didn't get dessert because we had to continue our trip but we would definitely go back. I would have give. 5 stars but the bartender took my glass when I had a couple sips left.

I stopped by the Foundation Kitchen + Bar in Derry, formerly The Halligan Tavern (Fire Hall Pub & Grille before that). The place has a casual dining room with tables, a pub area with seating up at the bar surrounded by high top table seating and an outside patio seating area.  The food menu offers small plates (appetizers), salads, large plates (pasta, chicken, steak, shrimp risotto, salmon), and desserts (fruit cobbler, tiramisu, Shaw Farm Ice Cream). Word here is most of their food is gluten free. The full service bar offers 25 beers on draft, bottled beers, seltzers, wine, cocktails and martinis. The prices here are moderate, most large plates in the $18 to $32 range.  I stopped by the Foundation Kitchen + Bar for dinner recently. Since I was solo, I headed for the bar and took a seat and given food and drink menus. I started out with an ice water and Loaded Guacamole ($12 plus tax) roasted corn avocado, charred red onion, cilantro, cotija cheese, and lightly salted crispy corn tortilla chips on the side. The guacamole dip had nice zesty flavors with lime flavor. For dinner, the Bolognese ($21 plus tax) was served very hot which had soft fresh pappardelle pasta noodles, beef + pork bolognese sauce, pecorino, and topped with farm basil. The Bolognese was not the tomato kind I was expecting and some of the noodles were stuck together, but all in all the flavors were good. For dessert, Strawberry + Rhubarb Cobbler ($10 plus tax) were served very hot in an iron skillet which had fresh berry compote, soft strawberries, firm rhubarb slices, orange zest, cream on top of cinnamon streusel topping. This dessert was a great ending to a filling dinner. I would've gotten some ice cream to go with this cobbler if I had more room. The check was $46.66 with tax and before tip. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner up at the bar though the lighting was dim here. There were also no TVs in the bar, so this place is more of a face to face kind of place for food and drinks. The service here was adequate and the bartender checked up on me often and food runners brought out my guacamole and Bolognese plates.

While visiting the area, my mom and I had a great dinner at Foundation! We loved the eclectic vibe and great variety on the menu with foods from different parts of the world. Everything was very fresh and we appreciated the farm-to-table dishes. Heather was our server and she was very friendly and attentive! Great spot in downtown Derry.

Cool vibe and decor, opened about a year ago, nice place for the Derry area. Everything tasted great, the wings were unique and delicious, and I'm glad to have finally had a perfectly cooked steak. Bravo, Foundation!

My son and I decided to check out this new restaurant-so glad we did! We were seated at a high table in the bar area. I really like the atmosphere at Foundation. Our servers were very pleasant and helpful with our questions. Being craft beer drinkers, we were pleased with the selection. In fact, I was delighted to be able to enjoy a pint of Wormtown's Blizzard of 78-one of my favorite winter brews. There is a full bar. Rob & I shared all the food we ordered so we could sample a wide variety. All were excellent. We had Braised Short Ribs, Arancini, Pecan Pear Salad, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and still had room to share a Snickers Dessert. Since we were sharing, all of our selections came out from the kitchen split, which was a nice touch. I am looking forward to returning to Foundation kitchen + bar in the near future.

    Smoked peach old fashioned

Food, service, atmosphere all first-rate. Spring rolls, steaks frites, bolognese all fantastic, as was the smoked peach old fashion cocktail. Solid wine list. Whomever is running this place knows what they are doing. Will be back asap.

A diamond in the rough. A hidden Gem. Downtown Derry, NH. A quaint little restaurant with amazing food. From the delicious appetizers to the amazing service. The owner is present and friendly. If you're lucky you'll have Heather as your server. A beautiful personality. Great food at a great price. I highly recommend.

I'm not sure if they have those kind of chairs, I would call before heading there just to make sure they have them.

Walking in 7 minutes after opening, this place was already packed. Full of Patriots fans hooping and hollering to the end of the fourth quarter. Every appeared in a merry mood, and everyone knew each other it seems. Service here was great. Our waitress whipped around the room with finesse and speed, working the bar and tables all by herself. She was to the point but pleasant. The beers are ok, but they aren't anything spectacular. An average selection of nearby beers of all varieties. Going to other breweries in New Hampshire, I know that this state can produce good beers. Perhaps they just had a mediocre selection the week I was there. We ordered a medley of items and most of it was hit and miss. In the sampler, the pork cracklings were decent, although dinner pieces were hard to chew since they turned into a dense fried bit. The fries were ok, but standard. The tator tot was actual pretty good, but there's this sweetness and texture that makes me think of pumpkin? That could be upsetting to some. The chicken tenders are ok, but the breading isn't seasoned or exciting in texture. It felt like how I would fry chicken at home with only one coat of breading. The pickle chips were good, even though they were not spicy at all. If they called these paprika coated chips, then I would agree. But texture wise, they were actually crisp and not super watery. The pulled pork tacos are ok, but they rely more on sweet barbeque sauce more than anything else. The tortillas are subpar in flavor, but sturdy enough to hold everything together. The veggies slaw did add some nice acidity though. The wedge salad here is terrible. I should have looked up what others posted before I ordered it. It was a literal wedge of plain iceberg, with all the other ingredients and fixings dumped in the middle. The stuff in the middle was ok, but nothing felt harmonious. Just a bunch of salad ingredients added to a giant paper tray. It felt like a waste of 9 dollars for what was lazy preparation.

TL;DR; Food: Amazing. Service: Amazing. Atmosphere: Amazing…read more The entire place is a retired coach stop for travelers from the south and west, as the name implies. The building has changed hands and purposes over the centuries, but the homeliness has held up. The kids mac and cheese on its own was better than most mac and cheeses, which should speak for itself. I'd say my favorite mac and cheese at a restaurant. I was kind of mad at myself for being so blown away by a kids mac and cheese. I will be back to have the lobster mac as a main based on this alone. I ordered it for my kid, but couldn't stop stealing bites. It's simple - definitely nothing more than quality cheese plus cream and pasta. But cheese choice in a mac and cheese is the most important! The clam chowder was INCREDIBLE. It became my new favorite, and I'm highly picky about clam chowders. The bacon wrapped scallops were drizzled in syrup which was a perfect flavor. Scallops were well cooked. Potato salad had that little acidic kick and was just great overall. Probably top 3 for me. Finally, the bread served as a pallette whetter is crispy and warm, chewy on the inside, with a few slices of pumpkin bread (probably seasonal). Service wise, Danielle was super friendly, did not rush, conversed with us, and without any prompting whatsoever offered to get a completely full and fresh cup of chowder to go rather than just an empty cup to pack away my leftover chowder. Felt SUPER welcomed. We also had a 1.5 yr old and didn't feel alienated. We were seated away from most guests, which I actually feel is a good strategic decision for both them and us. This is superb restaurant management. Overall - 10/10. WILL be back, and soon!

Mashed potatoes, soup and bread was good. No stuffing. My son got the seafood pasta and he enjoyed it. Waitress was great, not her fault. But, she saw that we didn't eat the prime rib. These were served with a pea and bacon risotto whose rich flavors matched the meatballs perfectly and the accompanying crisped breads balanced texture for the perfect combo. This one wasn't my dish, but I managed to snag a nibble and may be ordering it next time if they decide to add it to the regular menu. So good! The dishes were a nice size, leaving room for desert, and the fresh fruit meringue was an excellent finale. The restaurant itself is small, with a bar and just a handful of indoor tables. They had 4 more tables outside, however, which would be great on slightly cooler days. The indoor window seat we got was comfortable and the whole place had a cozy, friendly feel. Service was top notch, from a greeting as we entered to constant attention - we never really noticed our slightly small (bar style) table as all the dishes were cleared so quickly. A Truly Fantastic Experience Thanks to Our Server…read more We've been coming here for years because the steak tips are absolutely unbeatable, but I'll be honest -- the service in the past has been hit or miss. That's why our experience this time was such a breath of fresh air. I don't write alot of reviews but this was one I couldn't pass up. Our server Secret was phenomenal. Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, she managed to be both attentive and genuinely warm the entire time. She checked on us at the perfect moments, never rushed us, and somehow made us feel like we were her top priority despite juggling a full restaurant alone. That level of professionalism and energy is rare, and it completely elevated our night. The steak tips were, as always, incredible, and the espresso martinis were spot-on -- but the star of the evening was our server. Her attentive, upbeat, and downright impressive service is exactly what this place has been needing. She turned what is normally a "we come for the food" visit into a truly memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back (those steak tips guarantee it!), but now we'll be hoping we're lucky enough to get her again. She's an absolute gem.
