The store itself is really cute, with useful gadgets and cute towels and knick-knacks. I was part of a group of 12 for the Express Spanish class. There are many different cuisines to choose from, and different durations (e.g., express-1.5 hours, standard-2.5 hours, ultimate-3.5 hours). What made this class run so smoothly is all the prep work that was done ahead of time. Each member had their own apron with their name on it. The cutting boards, ingredients, and tools were laid out around the kitchen. Bruce, the owner/instructor, first gave us demos on knife technique, garlic crushing, and juicing with a fluicher (flat-juicer). Many of these tools are available at their store. Then we worked on different parts of the menu in teams of three. Some of us cut tomatoes, while other crushed garlic. As far as actual cooking on the stove, only 2 members were hands on. After cooking, we sat down at their dining table and ate our meal together. Menu: Gazpacho, Garlic shrimp, Pan con Tomate, Manchego y Chorizo Tostada. Everything tasted good, but my favorite was the garlic shrimp. Hygiene was very important throughout. Longer hair had to be tied, and once we washed our hands, we were no longer allowed to touch our phones. However, Bruce did a great job of taking plenty of pictures for us. Overall, a very fun way to socialize while making something together. I highly recommend this for a team building experience.

Whoa I had driven down this road many times but totally missed glances over here. Maybe I looked…read moreonce but thought it wasn't for the public. You see US Foods is one of the big wholesale food distributers that restaurants big and small use. They will deliver big loads of goods whether food or supplies right to the restaurant, usually on pay terms so no cash is handled. And for busy restaurants this is a must, as they constantly need raw goods coming in weekly if not daily. This is the first time I saw a 'US Foods' store. I think they took over something else. But it is a big store/space where almost everything is in bulk and/or wholesale form. For the home cook there is really nothing here that would fit their needs/kitchen unless you like to buy in bulk. 20 - 50 pound bags of beans, sugar or flour is usually just too much for an average Joe to carry to the car, let alone store in a home pantry. But if you like to entertain/cook for a large group like a big birthday, a bbq outing or big holiday get-togethers, then this place may serve you a purpose. I browsed one day and got a good feel for the place and here are my observations. If you go into the fresh produce area or the meat/dairy areas, you will have to go into a refrigerated room. The whole room is about 35 degrees so if you go in there in shorts and/or a t-shirt, then you will not be able to stay in there for too long. Produce not really extensive but you will be able to find some basics. Some things are in cases/big bags but not everything. Actually lots of things in smaller packaging like 2-3 pounds which is doable for a home fridge/usage. I'd say the offerings here are somewhat similar to what you could get at Costco. Meats are a mixed bag. Lots of processed meats like deli meat in whole form. Lots of cheese too but much too bulky for a home fridge. There are pork and beef but all in big/whole chunks. Nothing will be cut into steaks. Big packs too like minimum 10 pounds or more. But if you're cooking for a big group, you're gonna need a minimum of 10 pounds so this may be a draw for me. The bad is for the beef selection, even though the pricing did seem good, there is no 'choice' grade. They use 'select' grade here, which is a notch down from choice. But if you're just braising or slow cooking then this grade would be just fine. Costco only serves 'choice' grade or higher so theirs is more premium. Pork is fine here, I got some pork tenderloin in 2 packs, which is one of the smallest packages I saw, ideal for home usage. Good selection of restaurant ware. Pots, utensils and storage containers. This is a big draw for me as I love restaurant quality storage containers. They are sturdy, with tight lids and many are stackable. These are even hard to find at Costco and Smart and Final. On a weekday morning there is zero traffic here, complete opposite of Costco. Now this is more geared towards restaurants, but knowing if I can get something here or Costco, I will choose this, as the parking and ease to get in and out is an amazing asset to me. I was gonna give them 3 stars for not really being friendly for home usage but given those certain occasions where I'm cooking for 10 or more people, then this place will get a heavy consideration. And drum roll please******no membership card needed. Open to the public. **cymbal crash**

Today I purchased a box of oranges at CHEF'STORE in San Lorenzo for my natural juice business…read more Before purchasing the box, I inspected it and found several spoiled oranges, so I replaced them with good oranges from the same product. When I got to the checkout, an employee named Eloisa questioned why the box was so full and informed me that the store had cameras, suggesting that I may have added extra oranges. This made me feel unfairly suspected and embarrassed in front of other customers. The box contained 82 oranges, which is within the range stated on the receipt (72 to 86 oranges per box). At no point did I take any product without paying for it. I was disappointed by the way the situation was handled. As a customer, I expected to be treated with respect and professionalism. Additionally, when I later called the store to explain what had happened, my call was disconnected before I was able to fully express my concerns. I hope management reviews this situation and ensures that customers are treated fairly, respectfully, and based on facts rather than assumptions.

This store pretty much has all their vanities on display so you can see the different wood finishes and size options, which ones come with a sink and which ones have a separate sink. The prices are great compared to other custom vanity places. The store is huge and seems overwhelming. They carry a lot of products for your kitchen, bathroom and other rooms in your home. Since I was focused only on purchasing a vanity, I tried my best not to look at all the other products they carry, such as floor tiles, wood floors, bathroom tiles, shower fixtures, toilets, mirrors, shower doors, etc. So much to look at!! Richard helped me with my questions. He was knowledgeable and patient. He showed me comparable products around the floor then put my order together. Most items are in stock! That's great!! No need to wait for delivery. What I like about PHD is that I can purchase my products and my contractor can pick them up. I don't have to haul a vanity in my tiny car. Returns have a restocking fee. With our six-month long renovation, we visited many stores to find the materials we need for bathroom, kitchen, windows/patio doors, etc to compare prices. April and Victor (the store owners) are very extremely knowledgeable and very patient. April spent hours with me in the store reviewing on the design of our bathrooms and made recommendations on materials that would last in the long run while giving us very competitive prices!! When we ran into issues with our contractors, April was very responsive and helped us along the way until the issues were resolved. We ended up getting a lot of things from U-Save including Toto toilets, bathtubs, faucets, shower heads, windows, Porcelenosa tiles, bathroom vanities, even bathroom accessories such as towel rings, toilet paper holder, etc. Overall a truly personalized experience that it's not easy to find anymore in this industry. Our contractor picked everything up from their storefront and there were no problems. They even told us about the rebate from our water district. We were bummed the vanity wasn't better quality. They are cheap, so if you need cheap but not well made, go for it. I bought a vanity elsewhere. The staff are really pleasant and we are happy with our interactions. Remember, CASH OR CHECK only. We had to run to the BOA on Mission to pay for our toiliets.

But what happens when things go wrong? I bought an LG washer/dryer set and the washer had a crazy vibration that just seemed wrong. We hadn't had a new washing machine in a really long time, so we weren't entirely sure if this is how it was supposed to be. I contacted them (airport appliance at the time) and they asked me to send a video. After looking at the video, they confirmed that it wasn't right and arranged a pick up and delivery of a replacement in a few days. The new machine worked and continues to work great. Hard to ask for more than that! Sep 15, 2023 I visited on Labor Day weekend and as busy as it was, Grace Ho took the time to help me get the right dishwasher for us at a great price. Thank you!
