I've been here multiple times, and the experience has consistently been fun, welcoming, and well-run. First, the claim about "don't come if you're under 21" is simply not true. My son is 18 and regularly attends the Friday and Saturday night lessons with zero issues. It's actually one of the few places around that offers a safe, structured environment for younger people to learn and enjoy country dancing. As for staff and security--being firm is not the same as being "egotistical." They're managing a busy venue, and from what I've seen, they handle it professionally and keep things under control, which makes the whole place more enjoyable for everyone. The food is exactly what you'd expect for a lively night out--solid and satisfying--and the overall atmosphere is what keeps people coming back: great music, dancing, and a good crowd. When I approached them to see what the issue was, I was threatened physically by the man arguing with my girl, and told her had his "boy: there to back him up. I spoke with him briefly after everyone had calmed down and the idiots had left the bar. The owner seemed to have no remorse, and no justification for what he did to me. I really should have made a case out of this and pressed formal charges. I'm sure their security cameras captured the entire scene, and they would tell the tale exactly the same. I chose not to get physical with anyone since it was obvious the owner had taken their side over mine, and it was the right thing to do by just leaving at that point. Instead I will not honor them with my business any more, after almost 20 years of being a customer of theirs. I also will not support the owner's other business, Elmo's Rock Bar in Boynton Beach, who I had supported since they opened. It was a semi random night last week that I ended up at Respectable Street. There is a old…read morerockabilly band I've always liked, the Reverend Horton Heat, and they were coming to South Florida for 1 show. It was at this joint "Respectable Street" I had never heard of. I asked around and a couple friends said they didn't care for it. Boy were these off on that assessment. I arrived Sunday night plenty early for the show. I got a chance to hang out back in their courtyard, which was a nice spot to chill for a bit. There's a full bar out there, a large tree for shade and plenty of spots to sit for a minute. They have a couple cool blowups including this elephant. a Florida afternoon shower started though so I went in to catch the opening act. They were pretty solid. The room had good acoustics overall. I grabbed a drib here and had great quick service. For the show I was close to the stage. Its only about 3 feet off the floor so I really felt right on top of the show. After a great show I called it a night, and made note to tell people about this venue that's doin it in West Palm.
