We easily booked on line a couple months in advance of our trip to Stonehenge, Bath and a Secret Place. I had a few questions, which were answered quickly through email. Instructions and itinerary were provided after we bought we tickets. Additional and helpful information was sent a few day prior to our trip. Noelh, our tour guide, was knowledgable, interesting and fun from the moment he picked us up in London. He provided information beyond the tour stops. He was engaging and had a good understanding of the geology of Stonehenge as well as the historical background. He made well time stops for breaks. We spent about two hours at Stonehenge, two hours at Bath and an hour at the Secret Place. The Secret Place was worth the extra and I highly recommend. Noelh offered a brief and interesting walking tour at each site and left us time to explore on our own. We were allowed to bring snacks on the bus but we didn't need them because we stopped plenty at places for food and drink. Noelh provided water. Bring water and rain gear. There were UBC ports for phone charging on the bus. The bus was very comfortable. Noelh was sensitive to a woman that was having mobility issues and arranged for her to skip part of the walking tour. I enjoyed Stonehenge and the Secret Place immensely, I was glad I saw Bath, but it was too crowded during our visit. Others on the tour really loved Bath. I highly recommend The English Bus tours.

It seems that the only person "lacking variety" is the latter reviewer. I usually don't call out other reviewers but something had to be said before someone stepped on either of these landmines. Now, on with the review. Paul was the greatest tour guide in the history of tour guides... maybe ever. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding area and we were completely blown away by his attention to detail. Did you know that Thomas the Tank Engine was conceived on this route? Wild! Paul knew. He also accompanied us to Stonehenge itself and gave us an in-person walk-through of the site, which I hear the competition doesn't do. The other tours just drop you off and wait in the cafe for you to be done. A bit impersonal if you ask me. Paul even keeps spare rain jackets in case you didn't bring one to the Henge. What a saint. Need recommendations for what to do in Bath? Surprise, Paul's got them. He is an excellent driver and a knowledgeable archaeologist who has a vast understanding of the landscape and culture of the southwest UK. We not only saw the popular Stone Age, bronze, iron, and Neolithic sites of the area with his interpretation, but also drove by the unknown gems that the layman passes unknowingly. We saw historic homes and archaeological landmarks with interpreted perspective one only gets with a local in the know. The added convenience of having a knowledgable guide is navigation of the lines and roads to optimize your time and avoid tourist roadblocks. Our day with Heritage Holidays was the highlight of our trip to southern England. It was a lifetime best experience.

I do wish I had been there with a different travel partner or by myself, as I would have liked to take my time and walk from the visitor's center to the main attraction. There is a path one can follow to do just that. But if that isn't your thing, there is a bus that goes back and forth between the visitor's center and the 'foot' of the actual Stonehenge site. There is an official tour bus company that runs from the train station in the middle of town to Stonehenge just outside of town, along with stops at the cathedral (entry included with your Stonehenge ticket), as well as 2 other historical sites and a couple other bus stops around town. Highly affordable and reasonable if you are DIY-ing your visit. We took the train in from London and stayed overnight in town to explore and be able to take our time. Not sure how big bus tours from London doing day trips do it, but that is also a option for getting here. It is about 3 hours (by train) away from central London. Some have said they find this to be a disappointing tourist attraction. But I don't know, maybe it depends on your expectations. I was over the moon pleased and my expectations were exceeded. The weather happened to be beautiful and while it was busy, it wasn't like crunched shoulder-to-shoulder busy. There are markers set up around the structure with links to a self-guided audio tour. We ended up going in the opposite direction that most people opted to go (it is a loop around the stones) but that isn't, like, not allowed. So make your own choices. What not to do? DON'T be like an entitled man who just walks right on over the barricades and chains keeping you on the prescribed path and try and go pet the stones. Also maybe DON'T you and your wife throw a fit when security approaches you and takes you away for ignoring the clearly posted and straightforward rules that are printed in your native language and say you "deserve" to do whatever you want because it is your birthday (?). Like seriously...this happened while I was there and it was a scene. And they were lucky the Brits are so chill and calm about it...doing that kind of thing in a different country....yikes. ANYWAY. I loved every second of my visit here and only wish I could have spent more time exploring and taking my time around the site.

It was a lot of fun to have a tea party and the food was more than I had expected. If you're not able to eat at Sally Lunn's, they also sell their famous buns by the box!

Later on in the afternoon, I saw no line outside so ventured up and there was a short line inside for those wanting to dine-in. Since I just wanted to go down to the shop, I was able to walk right down. There is a small display down there and little souvenirs. The best part though is that you can order the buns to-go here and they bring them to you outside where you will be waiting after shopping in the shop. I got one of each flavor and waited about 10 minutes for the buns to arrive. It came in a fancy box, but no bag as you had to have purchased that back in the shop. Of the Lemon, Cinnamon, and chocolate, my favorite was Lemon. The curd was so thick and rich and the bun perfectly toasted. Highly recommend!!
