The visitor centre is a bit hard to find and not advertised as much as some other local tourist…read moredays out but it is a great day out. There is a lovely shop selling baskets made on the site they are a little bit pricey but seeing as they are made in the uk not imported from china I did not mind spending the money on one. They also sell willow to make your own baskets and garden structures (this is a bit big to take home if you are on holiday). They also make willow coffins! There is also a museum full of baskets, a video about the reed beds, a coffee/lunch shop and an exhibition about the Levels and Moors. After you have looked round all this you can go on a walk around the reed beds and get scared by the cows. The walk could be better sign posted but is worth the effort it does include quite a steep climb at the end so be warned. We had a picnic on the walk which was lovely. It is free to visit but closed on Sundays.

Visited Greenway earlier this year with a group of friends and enjoyed the experience of the actual…read morevisit and the one hour journey to and from the attraction by ferry from Dartmoor. Reaching the house once leaving the ferry is a bit of a trek uphill so make sure you have comfortable walking shoes on. Entry price is around £9 each but they do pretty much guilt you into making a 10% donation to Gift Aid (which is added to the entry price without asking and most people are too embarrassed to ask for this to be removed). The staff also try to sell you National Trust membership which is rather annoying as this really slows down the queue to get in. Once inside you can get some food in the café/restaurant although the prices are quite steep and the queues and service are horrendously slow. You can explore the grounds at your leisure and includes lovely views which you can imagine enthralled Agatha Christie as a child. Entering Greenway House is a lovely experience with the tour guides telling you that you enter as a visitor through the front door and leave via the back door as a friend of the family. Each room in the house can be explored at your own pace. There are items from Agatha Christie's childhood and later life in every room from dolls to books to diaries to items she collected and her piano and music that she wrote. You are not allowed to take photos inside the house. All in all a visit to the house shouldn't take longer than 2-3 hours maximum. A worthwhile experience for fans of Agatha Christie.

This place is advertised as a 'visitor centre' and you can easily miss the fact that there's a lovely bar tucked away downstairs. There's plenty of local ales on tap and even a chandelier made of old beer bottles! They've got a decent lunch menu and I can highly recommend the baguettes they have. Definitely worth a look if you're in town.

OK so this is not really a review of the Town Council itself (of course not!) but of this beautiful…read morebuilding labeled as Marlborough Town Council and the beautiful little town and the High Street in which the building finds itself which is full of charming (many bespoke) little shops and stores - plus restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. A wonderful place to visit on a lazy Sunday (or any other lazy day I guess). Step back in time, relax and enjoy! There is plenty of parking on both sides of the street and in the middle of the street - despite this be prepared to circle a couple of times before you find a spot. I think it is pay and display during the week but free on Sundays. Definitely worth a visit if you are anywhere close - and may I suggest Rick Stein (see my review) for lunch or dinner!! I normally buy all of…read moremy flights over the internet, but called into the Co-op on a whim one day, just to see how competitive they could be... I had no intention of booking a flight through them at the time. I'm pretty well versed in buying flights off the internet on the cheap and so I guessed that you'd be expected to pay a hefty premium for using the Co-op... surely manning an office on the high street, where business rates are exceptionally high, would mean that their service couldn't compete with a dingy office in the middle of nowhere, that only has an internet presence...? But I was really surprised! Not only did they take away all of the hours of infuriating web-searches that I would have had to put myself through, but the price of the ticket was the cheapest that I'd seen. The person serving me was a woman in her forties, and with plenty of experience under her belt, she made light work of the process. I bought my ticket there and then... I'd have been foolish not to!
