I've been home for 2 days and haven't slept the same. Also, they are $100 pillows so they aren't skimping on comfort -Decor is cute and goes with the surroundings -Can we talk about the outdoor shower and tub??? -Sitting area is nice- we didn't have a need for the pull out sofa but it was great to sit and play games somewhere other than the bed -Soap/shampoo/conditioner smells amazing! -COVID STUFF: they provide a couple of face masks and a bin of wipes. This was a big plus of us! -Lots of coffee options with sugar options & creamer (to go cups and mugs) -Filtered drinking water provided! -The fire pit was in-ground which was awesome because we were able to use it to cook in dead of summer without burning alive. There wasn't a day without a breeze coming up the hill which helps as well! -Quick drive to Terlingua Ghost Town, about 20 mins from Lajitas. Other things close by like a liquor store, gas station, etc. -NO TV- a definite plus in this environment! CONS: -I was initially disappointed when we pulled up- this is close to the highway. Not so close that you lose much privacy, but in my mind I thought it was gonna be set further off from a main hwy, or that the pull in would be behind the house so you had an uninterrupted view of the desert/mountains -This particular house had 2 shipping containers and what seems like the beginnings of a construction effort right out front. We weren't disturbed by any noise, and the workers were gone by 4-5 each day so it was fine, but again it was the expectation v reality thing -Power lines are part of your view (they run along the hwy) -The fridge is the size of a normal small hotel fridge which was a con for us because we had to keep refilling the cooler with ice which required a trip to the store. I'd keep cold groceries to a min if you're staying a few days. Overall, this place should probably get 5 stars given the price point (worth every penny of $200/nt), but I do think it's important to call out that it's not alone in an expansive space without any disruption. You don't feel "alone". However, we enjoyed every moment, from playing blackjack in the sitting room, to snuggling in the comfy bed, showering in the open air (with ample privacy), cooking over fire, Star-gazing, painting the vista, etc. We will definitely return, and will likely book Casa Juni which was the first casa on the hwy and seemed to have the best view. We stayed at the bank which had two king-size comfortable beds, ice cold air conditioning and a beautiful big bathroom. Our front porch there were gorgeous views of the Valley Gorge through the Desert Mountains. They offer a free Continental style breakfast as part of your stay. Right across the street from the cabins on their property still is a hike up the mountain to the Native American cave. This is an amazing place to go and the only regret we have is that we didn't stay longer.

When they returned they would yelp non-stop. What an experience. We left the big city of Austin on a vacation seeking a peaceful escape to enjoy some stargazing, and this is what we got. Don't get me wrong, I'm a dog owner but I left him with family just so I didn't have to worry about this. This place should rethink their pet policy and do something about the light pollution coming from the common dining area and illuminating the General Store.

The park itself is well-equipped: * Full hookups * Spacious, pull-through RV sites * Clean bathrooms with showers * Laundry facilities * Heated pool * Paved roads and level pads for easy setup The bathrooms were consistently clean and always available--huge plus. The lodge is a real highlight. Think "Texas-sized" with multiple leather couches, a poker table, dining space, and a full kitchen. It connects to a large laundry room with plenty of machines and seating--making laundry day feel like less of a chore. Connectivity was surprisingly solid given the remote location near the Mexico border. While our hotspot struggled to get even two bars, the park's Wi-Fi came through just fine. A few tips for travelers: * There's no ice machine or propane refill on-site, but the nearby market carries both. * STOCK UP in Alpine before heading down--gas, propane, drinks, and food are all pricier here. * Most RV sites include picnic tables and fire pits. Bring your own firewood unless you want to pay $10.99 per bundle. * There's no shade, so make sure your AC and awning are ready to go to war with the sun. Exploring the area: * Lajitas is about 20 miles from Big Bend National Park--the main reason most people come. * Don't miss Terlingua Ghost Town (~15 miles away) for a fun local vibe. They have a no-outdoor-light policy after 9 PM--great for stargazing, so respect it and enjoy the night sky. Yes, prices are a bit higher due to that, but the amenities, atmosphere, and proximity to Big Bend make it more than worth it. Unfortunately, we have a 34 foot motor coach and it is so unlevel. we have to put the wheels off the ground to level it on site 19. But cannot. complain. The owner had to re-arrange several reservations to get us a site we'd not have to change during our almost 2-week stay. The nice, wide drive-in area is so dusty that whenever a disrespectful guest pulls in or pulls out everybody gets a dust shower. Now, when you consider where it is located in Study Butte/Terlingua, no RV Park here can beat it because of the dust issues and the wonderful views. I posted this if you are considering coming here from somewhere beyond the desert, you'll not find a nicer campground other than in the Chisos basin. And those are not so nice because they are so close together. They just aren't dusty. Final word: when you come to the desert, you going to get some dust. But I love it here

This little adobe house was quite comfortable and it was very clean. The outdoor shower was precious and very private. No worries though, there is also an indoor shower. There is a small fridge and a Kuerig with a variety of options for coffee and tea. It's in a quiet neighborhood and we felt safe. This casita is close to several options for dining and cocktails. I'd definitely re-book next time I'm in the area!

The kitchens and bathrooms are amazing, and the little extras, like a king size bed, AC & Heat, baskets of goodies, a bottle of wine on the bar, to Big Bend Coffee for your enjoyment. She also escorted us to the Boathouse bar where the locals hang out to enjoy not only draft craft beer, but music by locals such as Butch Hancock and Jimmy Dale Gilmore. This was our first visit to Terlingua, and thanks to Jenn and her yurts, I am ready to go back. If you're planning a trip to Big Bend, I would suggest giving this place a try if they have availability, as it's right outside the park entrance.

We have checked out and left the place better than we found it. We swept up about 4 pounds of hair and dust. We could not contend with the mouse infestation, cleaning up several dead mice, and lots of droppings, despite keeping our food in storage. Maggie, the burro, is a sweet girl but she limited what we could do on the property. She wouldn't move when we needed her to and she wouldn't let us out of the house. The vrbo description led us to believe it would be very private with a hot tub. We felt like we were eye to eye with our neighbors. We are relocating to another property and that is costing us additional funds that we did not intend to spend. We'd like a refund for the 2 nights that we will not be staying on the property. An AWD or a truck would be more suited.We wanted to visit local attractions so in 3 days we traveled this horrible stretch of road 3 times in and out. Shower head repaired with duct tape and kitchen tap also in need of repair. Shelf under the TV has not been cleaned in ??? $75 cleaning fee Seriously The Donkey cute friendly but do not feed her. She gave the front door a head butt I was in the shower and my wife was left to deal a large animal trying to enter our cabin.The rest of our stay we used the dead bolt BTW a good GPS will find this cabin Curt gave me directions from Fort Stockton over the phone. BTW the hot tub cover is weighted down with 6 ten lbs rocks and the donkey will probably join you here as well.
