Basecamp Terlingua - Deluxe bubble. (It's two bubbles technically but they are connected & there is no way to separate y'all if you go in a group of 4)

It's about two hours from Marfa to TeraLingua so I would not recommend it. It's more of a stop enroute to Big Bend. If you have an EV, note that the nearest Supercharger is in Alpine. The turn off into base camp was a dirt road with several steep hills. No issues with any well maintained cars but just be aware. The whole area seemed like a scene out of Mad Max with the tipis and junk vehicles around to be honest. A ways down the dirt road was a turn off that was the parking area for Bubble One and Bubble Two. Bubble two is the more secluded one because nothing is viewable from the other bubble for the walk way towards the bubble. The bubble itself as well as the fire pit is secluded from eyes. Bubble one, you can see the fire pit from the walk way. The bubble is actually two bubbles, one for the main bedroom and one for the bathroom. Main room had the AC unit, queen sized bed, two end tables with lamps, two chairs, and one coffee table. The entry way "or airlock" had the Kruger coffee maker, Berkey water filter, and mini fridge. The quality of the furnishings is very nice. It didn't seem cheap or dirty at all. The bed, pillows, and comforter were soft and luxurious to the touch. The toilet looked spotless and the shower area was super clean. Definitely fits the definition of Glamping! Now the thing that everyone comes for -- the amazing view! At night you can see all the stars through the bubble overhead as you lay in bed! If the moon comes up it will diminish the visibility of the stars. Moonless nights are the best for star viewing. The bubble faces east so we got to see the colorful sun rise, although blocked partially by mountains. I highly recommend this as a relaxing experience, especially if you don't like camping outside.

We loved relaxing in the pool and the jacuzzi, and before going to bed we'd look at the stars. We even saw shooting stars (one of my favorite moments!!) The views were AWESOME, and the dome had everything we needed. Most special of all, this is where my fiancé proposed, and it will ALWAYS hold a special place in our hearts. This was hands down the best Airbnb we've ever stayed in. We didn't want to leave. We can't recommend The Bubble enough, and we hope to come back one day to relive this special place.

Visiting the hot springs is a must on every visit for me. So relaxing and peaceful even with others around. I would say that I am a novice hiker and hiking through Big Bend is quite easy though I have faced some challenges. Be sure to wear proper shoes and clothing. So very thankful that we are still able to have this national park as it is now. The trails, views, landscaping, all of it...simply breathtaking. I have found park rangers to be extremely helpful and friendly. Can't wait to get back again.

The dessert was beautiful and the park as a whole was very well taken care of! Old Mine Trail: Since we went around "Spring Break", the parking lot was very busy and spaces were limited. I would recommend downloading the "All Trails" app to gauge how busy the trails are. By 7:30, all the spots in the small parking lot were already taken. The trail itself was very well managed. Although the parking lot was busy, the trail was not bad! We were pretty spaced out between hikers! Take lots of water and snacks! The views up top are spectacular. Star Gazing: We were at Sotol Vista (for panoramic stars). The stars were especially beautiful inside the park because there was no light pollution (aside from the headlights from passing cars down below us).

In the…read morepitch dark of night we tried motel after motel, all were closed up tight and had no facilities to gain lodging despite there being 'night phones' at some places. In the distance we saw a purple light - the alternating red and blue of an 'open' sign. Our spirits lifted greatly by the prospect of not having to sleep in the car, we pulled in to find a group of people enjoying the stars with some beers, and a drunken older gentleman who seemed to recall that he did, in fact, have the ability to put us up in a room. My boyfriend went to the office with one of the staff and returned with a room key, receipt, and two beers. We were invited to join the staff on their patio for drinks and conversation, and we saw the majestic beauty of the milky way on a night with no moon. The owner told us the story of how he built the place, bit by bit, and I found that our room had a significant amount of charm, and was clean. The shower ran hot, the air conditioning ran cold, and the room was clearly decorated by hand, which was a nice change of pace from the generic art found in chain hotels. We stayed two nights, and now live on, with fond memories of our visit to Big Bend National Park and the El Dorado Hotel.

I was solo so I had a room with one king size bed in a newly renovated motel. It was perfect for me ! The room was very clean. I enjoyed walking around at sunset taking photos. The staff was very friendly. Cost was middle of the road considering they were kicking off their busy time of year. Big Bend area is crazy starting Nov 1st or so. My only pick was a lack of a broom to sweep up the small rocks I tracked in while walking around outside. I know most people would never think of sweeping a motel while on vacation BUT not me. It's worse stepping on one of those small rocks while barefooted. I will definitely make reservations here for my next trip. Plus, my wife would approve of it.

Outstanding RV Stay in West Texas - Maverick Ranch RV Park, Lajitas…read more Texans are known for their hospitality, and the staff at The Maverick Ranch RV Park in Lajitas, TX absolutely lived up to that reputation. Friendly, polite, and helpful, they made check-in and check-out quick and informative--handing out maps with local highlights and always being available if needed. The park itself is well-equipped: * Full hookups * Spacious, pull-through RV sites * Clean bathrooms with showers * Laundry facilities * Heated pool * Paved roads and level pads for easy setup The bathrooms were consistently clean and always available--huge plus. The lodge is a real highlight. Think "Texas-sized" with multiple leather couches, a poker table, dining space, and a full kitchen. It connects to a large laundry room with plenty of machines and seating--making laundry day feel like less of a chore. Connectivity was surprisingly solid given the remote location near the Mexico border. While our hotspot struggled to get even two bars, the park's Wi-Fi came through just fine. A few tips for travelers: * There's no ice machine or propane refill on-site, but the nearby market carries both. * STOCK UP in Alpine before heading down--gas, propane, drinks, and food are all pricier here. * Most RV sites include picnic tables and fire pits. Bring your own firewood unless you want to pay $10.99 per bundle. * There's no shade, so make sure your AC and awning are ready to go to war with the sun. Exploring the area: * Lajitas is about 20 miles from Big Bend National Park--the main reason most people come. * Don't miss Terlingua Ghost Town (~15 miles away) for a fun local vibe. The Boathouse offers cheap beer, live music, and friendly locals. Nearby, High Sierra Bar & Grill has great food and seriously good chili. * For stunning scenery, drive the 50-mile stretch to Presidio--incredible views and the cheapest gas in the region. Nighttime Pro Tips: It gets pitch black out here. The park has well-marked, smooth roads with reflectors, but bring a soft flashlight and use low beams when arriving after dark. They have a no-outdoor-light policy after 9 PM--great for stargazing, so respect it and enjoy the night sky. Final Thoughts: The Maverick Ranch RV Park delivers excellent value, especially given its remote location. Yes, prices are a bit higher due to that, but the amenities, atmosphere, and proximity to Big Bend make it more than worth it. After a long day hiking or exploring, a refreshing dip in the pool is the cherry on top.

The laundry facilities were fine...I just wish they had coin machines as the office was closed so I had to drive to the hotel and buy rolls from the front desk. Wi-Fi was mostly good.
