We went to Longwood, while I'd been there before I didn't know how well it would photograph at night. I also had only about 2 weeks to get a photographer. Thankfully Gretchen was there to save us all! She offered a call to clarify about the plan and recommend locations to propose at for better photos as well. This proved to be super helpful considering both my friend's now fiance and I knew nothing about proposals. On the day of, she stayed in constant contact for the surprise photos and charged in the moment the proposal began. The couple received about 30 photos (granted they were at night with very little lighting) but she said that usually couples receive 50+ photos on sessions w good lighting.

He discussed with the couple and was happy to work with their plans and what they did and didn't want, and very thoughtful about the photography options with great suggestions. He was a super nice guy as well. The day of the event he was professional, very flexible in the face of lots of cooks in the kitchen, clearly knew what he was doing, and really nice to work with. He knew how to compose shots and make them look great. But most important, the pictures came out wonderful! Finally, his fee was completely reasonable and appropriate to the occasion (unlike other photographers we contacted who said they had a minimum wedding fee whether or not it was a large, standard wedding event). I am from the West Chester area and shopped around, but I wanted to find a "vibe" with someone that I trusted to take beautiful photographs of my family. When we met with Bev she immediately made me feel at ease, she was familiar with our requested location and showed us the best places to take pictures. I could have had better photos of my wedding if I'd given every guest a disposable camera. He showed up late, he locked his equipment in his car and we had to wait around for AAA to come and unlock his door (about an hour). He didn't have batteries for his equipment and asked my family to buy him batteries. He later attempted to charge me for the time spent waiting for AAA and for the batteries which he claimed he had later given to wedding guests because their camera batteries died. I ended up with more photos of one of my bridesmaids than I ever wanted and later found out that he had tracked her down on facebook and made her feel very uncomfortable both at the wedding and subsequently thereafter. My wedding party told me that he spent more time eating than he did taking photos, which showed in his work because I have very few pictures of my reception.

Our engagement session gave us a chance to get to know Matt and for him to know us. When the big day came, we felt very comfortable with him and he (along with 2 other photographers) did a great job managing our family and bridal party for group shots. Many guests commented that our photographers were awesome throughout the evening. This skill should not be overlooked when you are evaluating a wedding photographer! In the end, we were thrilled with the quality and variety of pictures. The photo journalistic style captured the true essence of the day and there were a lot of really fun shots. To top it off, all of JPG's wedding packages include a DVD or thumb drive of high-res images with personal use rights - which means you have full flexibility when it comes to albums and prints.
