Another pub that enjoys the awesome view across to Cornwall, this friendly pub serves Doom Bar…read more I feel like I have given the pub a very short review, but it was either that or copying and pasting 90 percent of this review (http://www.qype.co.uk/place/1462905-Royal-Albert-Bridge-Inn-Plymouth)

I stayed here with the boyff on a Saturday night. When we arrived I wasn't quite sure where we…read morewent in to check in as clearly there is a bar where the locals were eating and watching the football, but nowhere obvious to go to. Anyway, we asked at the bar and said we could check in there, so we did. I have to say the bar had a feel of the Legion type bar to it, all a bit messy and could do with a lick of paint. Just dated and old and I wouldn't necessarily want to eat in there. The prices of the drinks surprised me too, £3:95 for a double Smirnoff plus mixer which I thought was a bit steep especially as this was a) not London and b) not at all posh. I went to the toilet and they were grim, as were the men's (boyff reported back) that actually were dismal indeed. As in mouldy and rank. Throughout the downstairs there were damp blown bubbles all over the place and I didn't want to put my drink down or touch anything. I was dreading the room...... However, what a lovely surprise. Like super lovely. They have obviously just all been kitted out and redone to a high standard, lovely big comfy beds decent TV. En Suite was done out nicely too. Shame the extractor fan in the shower didn't work that well as I was totally steamed out within minutes so had to open the window and door to let some air in. No ironing board or iron, but the welcome guest book said there was one at reception (where is this blinking reception?!). Health and safety - There was no fire plan displayed in the room, a sizeable gap under the door and no plugs tested. The corridor was painted bright blue and with a striped carpet which made you feel like you were at a seaside resort :) However the kitchen is right by the stairway and it smells rather rank. I genuinely liked the room, bit expensive to be fair though for what it is. I'd have rather stayed closer the city centre. Breakfast was cheap quality sausage and bacon, sausage was the really cheapo type and bacon tough as old boots. They had cereals but not continental. So, the decor of the room was lovely, but the price, cheap food and the cost of it, I won't be going back.

It's a small restaurant right in Padstow that does small plates that focus on seafood. To start, their cocktails were great! I wish I could remember the one I got but I added a photo of it. I think it had passion fruit in it. It was so good! My friend's favorite dish was the scallops and mine were the prawns. :) They were giant and so tasty! The oysters were good too and I definitely would order more next time. Being from a landlocked area, it was so cool to hear how fresh this seafood is! Definitely recommend stopping in if you get the chance.

This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had…read more Prawn on the Farm is a delightful, casual-chic tent restaurant set on a farm lawn with a stellar vista over the Padstow area of Cornwall, out toward the coast where their fat, creamy oysters come from. It may sound strange to those with preconceived notions, but the place has the exact vibe of a well-done Burning Man camp, including the sense of being comfortably ensconced in the environment. The constant presence of the benign outdoors--beside the operation's hooped greenhouses--is absolutely perfect for a restaurant that prides itself on fresh, hyper-local produce, fish, and beverages. And what food! The menu is small plates...except for some larger whole-fish options. The strategy is to order 2-3 per person and share. This ensures that you are getting a cascade of delightful flavor combinations that remain surprisingly subtle despite deep character and a broad flavor palate that ranges from the mild creaminess of cannelloni beans and bacon sparkles under a small slab of baked hake, to a scallop grilled in a soup of Thai green curry. Flavors combine to gently surprise: tree ear mushrooms and fresh dill, candy-sweet cherry tomatoes and tarragon, kale with truffle oil. The combinations are so insightful and unexpected that it's often tricky to identify them, even though the dishes remain clean, simple, and pure. The extreme freshness and site-specificity of the ingredients means that quantities are limited and the dishes on offer are constantly cycling. If you see something that looks good, order quick before it changes to something new! The service is excellent, with a young, skilled and friendly staff both in the front of the house and in the open kitchen; a snafu with our order was quickly and easily resolved. Unsurprisingly, the bar offers local alcohol, including Padstow Brewery's excellent modern and traditional beers/ales, and Tarquin's interesting gins. The POTL team also has a taqueria in Padstow, and apparently the temporary tent will be replaced with a permanent structure next year. I hope they find a way to retain the current feeling of the place, because it's just perfect (even though the season is quite short). Be sure to reserve WELL in advance. Though you have no sense of packed busyness while there, this place books out during the summer season, and it would be a pity to miss out on food that tidily upends Britain traditional reputation for bad cooking.
