This is my favourite Italian restaurant in the whole of Britain. The ambience is lovely and they cater well for you where you are there for a romantic meal for two or as a big noisy party of people. The food is gorgeous, the bruchetta the best outside Italy! The puddings too are really scrummy and it really is very difficult to decide what to have. The staff are brilliant and the owner usually comes over and has a chat with you. Parking is easy with a Pay and Display carpark just behind the restaurant. A fabulous restaurant that you simply must visit! read more

The best in the West! Superb menu, very difficult to choose from the extensive range of freshly cooked, sumptuous foods on offer. Excellent range of wines too with half bottles available if desired. The staff are very friendy and always provide a tip top service. Parking too is nearby with a Pay and Display situated at the rear of the restaurant. read more

I love this place! I have visited this restaurant for many years and without exception have always had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. What I love most is how authentic this little place is! The owners are italian and full of character! The food is fantastic! I have tried many of the dishes now and the flavours are always exceptional! The complimentary bruschetta is a nice touch and is possibly the best I have ever tasted even when I was in italy! The portions are extremely generous and I always leave completely stuffed! This is probably one of the few restaurants I have 3 courses in! I love the food so much I just can't help myself! For a starter I particularly like the tricolore salad with avocado, tomato and mozzarella or the pancakes with spinach and ricotta (this is almost like a main course though, so filling!!!) for a main course all of the pizzas are good, so fresh tasting! I also like the vegetarian lasagne or the penne siciliana and for dessert the cheesecake and tiramisu are particularly good!!! They also quite frequently have specials on the menu, often fish dishes which again are very nice! Gets booked up in advance as only a small restaurant so I would definitely recommend booking, particularly if you want to go at the weekend! read more

My wife, son & I ttravelled to Plymouth to visit our grand daughter on 251019, on the previous Saturday I tried to book a table & was advised that the lead time was 3 weeks. However after explaining to the staff member over the phone that iit would be my wife's birthday he kindly arranged a table for the four of us between 6 and 8p.m. What a restaurant! the food was magnificent, the service first class and all the mature and highly experienced waiters were charming and so helpful. you are spoilt for choice . We ordered saltambucca romana, meatballs in ragu sauuce and duck with honey. All meals were perfectly cooked so also were the starters, all various seafood, my scallops inn garlic sauce were probably the best I have ever tasted in the 50+ years I have experienced the best restaurants. I have been eating here for over 20 years. The service is very friendly and efficient. Some of the dishes are obviously a little mix and match (same sauce different meat / fish, possiblbly because the menu is too big. The bruscetta is excellent, the pizza is easily the best in the south west (the cappricossa?? is the best I have tasted outside Rome) and the desserts, well just make absolutely sure you leave enough room. Another delicious meal! We've been making this a pre Christmas family outing for years. Several Italian chefs working very hard in the kitchen deliver consistently delicious southern Italian food. The dining room is staffed by equally hard working, friendly, accommodating waiters. Homey casual atmosphere. Reserve well in advance if you go around the holidays. Highly recommended. This is comfortable the best Italian restaurant in Plymouth. It is situated at the top of town with plenty of parking nearby. Positanos has been established here for some considerable time. The restaurant is always busy and you are advised to book well in advance. Although on the expensive side, you will see why when you eat here. The food is excellent, with a great variety to suit all tastes. The staff are extremely courteous and friendly. A great dining experience! read more
