During the day the glass walls lets in alot of natural light, table service is great and be preparred to order your drinks first. Car parking can be found behind with a high level garage, obviously charged. Bella Italia, at the Barbican leisure park. Incredibly frustrated with my evening with my girlfriend. Just because we're a young couple in our late teens doesn't mean we can be messed around. I'm having to apologise to my girlfriend after an evening of: Uncooked food, Awful tables, Poor customer service, Flat coca cola, Warm Cheese Cake, (Not forgetting warm cream) Hard Chips, Expensive Bill, No Asking of feedback at the end of the meal, nor a goodbye. Also not forgetting, being almost fully neglected with a total wait time of 50 minutes in total, waiting for staff to service us. Definitely would NOT recommend. Will NOT be visiting again. Myself and my hubby went to Bella Italia three weeks back because there was a voucher with us which stated get one meal and the other one free. So we thought of using it. As we entered the restaurant we were shown our places where we sat comfortably on our seats. Next one of the staff member came for getting our order. We told him that we have got a voucher, he immediately took it and there was no problem at all. We gave our order but have to order for quite long as it was sunday and the restaurant was crowded. But after 45 min or so we got the food. After having it when we asked how much we have to pay so it only half of the total amount. My sister came to visit, so we left travel lodge to find somewhere to eat. Never been here before and weather ain't best for going far, so thought we would give it a go. Staff are friendly and know their menu (rare for Plymouth :-D My sisters a chef, so thought she would pick holes in the food, but she really impressed (that's a big plus), I liked too :-) We sat now by in bar area looking at the decor... Very nice, only negative is looking out the window at a roundabout. Would get 5*'s if we could pick restaurant up and get a nice view over the hoe maybe. read more

Bella italia is not bad. The service is pretty friendly although I did find a couple of times we were left sitting at out table for quite a while. The food isnt bad and seems to be fresh but the portions in my opinon are not good compared to what you pay, I had 3 courses and I didnt feel satisifed when I left. We visited a couple of weeks ago early evening on a Saturday around 5pm. When we entered the restaurant was empty at the front and a handful of tables were taken at the rear. We were asked if we had reservations and when we said no, the server made a big point of explaining we could have a seat but would only be able to have the table for 90 minutes maximum. In an empty restaurant. Good starting point! I really have no idea why restaurants do this, they almost made us feel as thought they were doing us a favour by seating us! The servers were not very friendly at all. They stood together at the bar whispering among themselves. The food was good though. Our starters were brought out promptly and were hot. We both ordered the same main courses, I always get the duck dish. Bella Italia seem to be trying to cut costs as usually this dish is served with chunks of duck, this time the duck had been shredded and mixed into the pasta, probably using half the amount of duck but still charging the same price. Slightly annoying. Total for 2 courses with glass of wine each was just over £40. read more

Bella Italia are part of the Tesco Clubcard Deals, so I have now visited there quite a few times both as a big group and with just my family. The restaurant is set alongside a large roundabout and there are two large carparks right next to it, so very easy for parking. The restaurant is decorated to a high standard and it generally feels like a nice place to eat. Service can sometimes be a little slow as it is often running promotions such as buy one get one free, but they do provide children with a little goody bag with colouring items and a yoyo so that keeps the little ones entertained whilst they are waiting. The menu is very good and they also do daily specials. The food is always very well presented, and tasty and the prices are very reasonable. If I was paying cash I would probably just visit with me and my husband of an evening, as for a family for lunch you could end spending a bit. Toilets are upstairs which is a bit of a hassle with young children, but they are clean and tidy. Staff are quite friendly too, it is only the time the food takes to come that lets it down. read more

its part of a huge chain set under a Travel Lodge between similar themed restaurants and some student bars. Nothing impressive. Food is passable. But if you want Italian food why not go to a proper italian restaurant. There is no reason to pick Bella Italia unless you are hungry and on your way to the 'Strip' for a heavy nights drinking and dancing in the Union Street nightlife zone. read more

Went here for mums birthday because on previous visits it has been wonderful. However on the starter we found a couple of long black hairs in the dish which was very off putting. We told the waiter and he apologised and we forgot about it because it could happen anywhere, but about half an hour later the table next to us also had the same problem with a different dish. Its a shame as i love the food there but now wont be recommending it to anyone and will not be going back in a hurry! read more
