I am a frequent customer at this location only because of the convenience and ease of access. The heavier set cashier with the beard is rude and is not pleasant to interact with whatsoever. I have been harassed multiple times for simply using the restroom when HE WANTED TO...everything from rude remarks to telling me I should go somewhere elee to use the bathroom. He needs to be replaced immediately, if not I certainly will refrain from spending my money there and will do my best to tell all my friends and fam how unprofessional this "redwood mart" really is. 2* review. Gas is gas. All the gas stations are within cents of each other so that's not my issue. My issue is, I go inside to buy a drink, or snack, as I'm getting ready to drive out of the area. I figure these things will also be competitively priced, especially since brand name sodas etc. are close to the same price everywhere. I go to a lot of convenience stores, and almost all of them have a cheap energy drink they're selling, or deals on others. I see the "$3.50 for 2" a lot for rock stars, or $.99 for venoms, or "2 for $3" on monsters etc. it's not uncommon. I go into Fortuna Chevron though and not a deal to be seen. Trail mix that looks old, $7. Little Aztec breakfast burritos, $5.50. Wtf? I got my $.99 Arizona fruit juice stuff and left. The Chevron here has a nice store, great refrigerated section, lots of options, clean, and it looks like it's new or kept up very well in the fridge behind the drinks. That being said, I'm not paying your inflated ass prices to help you pay for it faster. Try lowering some of your prices. I'm guessing you would sell more product and therefore make the same profit. Good god this place is pricey. Gas is reasonably priced at least. But then again, if it wasn't, nobody would stop there. read more

This gas station and the mexican restaurant inside have some serious health issues. Yesterday I stopped here on my trip from Humboldt back to Sacramento. I ordered 20$ worth of food so my family wouldn't have to make unnecessary stops on the trip and walked over to the bathroom. The bathroom requires a big key attached to a large squeegee handle. Needless to say touching the bathroom key is a disgusting thought knowing how little people wash their hands after doing their business. While I was away my girlfriend and her mother witnessed the chef handling the garbage and doing general cleaning before making our food. At no point did she wash her hands. When I got out I personally witnessed her walking around the chevron station, in a way that made it appear the head Chef of Aztec Grill is also the janitor of Chevron. I immediately asked for a full refund. I can't play around with germs in my family's food. We have a family member with very low immunity due to their transplant. The kid at the register didn't seem to believe that my girlfriend witnessed the garbage incident, but he started the refund process. Two minutes later he had to bring in the manager of Chevron. The manager spent another 20 minutes fumbling around with the register. According to the manager the machine wasn't able to give me a refund because it was still processing the initial payment. After almost a half hour she sent me on my way with my receipt, took down my name and number, and assured me she would have her supervisor take care of it that day and contact me when it was finished. During this time the manager kept giving me this odd speech about not being able to give me a refund in cash, though I had never asked for a cash refund, and repeatedly told her I understand. Her attitude about the cash refund was bordering on rude considering I never once asked for one. Unfortunately no one contacted me, and when I contacted my credit company this morning they told me the payment had not been returned. A simple ten minute talk with the customer service representative fixed a problem that the manager at Chevron wasn't able to fix after half an hour. I made sure to sanitize my hands after leaving Aztec Grill/ Chevron. That bathroom key is disgusting, do not eat any food here until they get rid of it. This nasty key is touching the same surfaces as the food from the grill, as well as basic gas station food and drinks such as slim jims and redbull, and receipts. Not to mention the people at the register are handling this key and scanning the customer's items. Not once did I see them wash their hands either. Do not take my words lightly when I say this key could have the potential to spread E Coli and other feces related bacteria. Cross contamination is a serious issue and should be important for any business whether they're a 4 star restaurant or a gas station. Fortuna was the last piece of civilization before our three hour drive through winding mountain roads. My family and I chose to go hungry over getting sick from this place. read more

The Blonde woman in a black Anerican flag hat working at closing time on Saturday made me feel safe from some scary guys walking by who had made me feel threatened. She kept me inside even though she was about to close.She went about her closing duties regardless if my rambling. This woman was not only doing her job, but looking out for my safety! She did not know me and wanted to go home, but she refused to allow me to be alone with the riff raff outside. I think this woman deserves a very substantial reward and I will have my family and cohorts check in to see that she is recommended accordingly. This woman went above and beyond her job and deserves a serious commendation. This lady has work ethic and bravery. If I could hire ten of her I would. So please show her some serious respect.I will be reporting her good doings to many other business owners and to her employer! read more

I was on a trip down to San Francisco and stopped here before I hit the road last week. I grabbed a couple Monster energy drinks, The labels are clearly stated 2 for $4.29 However after the cashier scanned them my total total was $6.49.. I asked the cashier why they are so much when they say 2/4.29 she said there must've been some wrong tags on there. Now I could understand if it was just one tag but it was a sticker on their cooler door as well as tags on all of the monsters. I politely asked if I could have them for the price that's advertised on the actual product and she said she would have to get the manager (totally understandable) she walked over to the dining area and spoke to a woman eating at a table, apparently the manager was on lunch or something. She came ack to the register with the manager, I did not get her name but she was a bigger girl and claimed to be the store manager... She told me that the sticker and the tags were not correct it was very rude about it. She told me they're not the ones who put stickers and it's the energy drink companies that do. I'm a previous business owner so in my eyes regardless if one of your affiliates put the wrong price on you as a company need to own that. I explained I totally understand that but I feel like I should get the price listed and then you can remove the incorrect price so it doesn't happen again, Mind you I was still very polite even though I was a little upset she was being rude, Instantly after saying "I feel like I should get the price listed" she lost it and became loud and downright rude . She stated "i don't have time for this I'm busy, If you don't like our price You can go shop somewhere else, And promised me she would not be upset" She said this is very rude and sarcastically I was about to walk out but I was upset and shocked, not even at the incorrect price but the way the MANAGER treated me as a customer that did nothing wrong... I asked who I could speak to above her because the way she treated me was very unacceptable And I wanted to make a complaint. She said I am the manager there is no one above me you're more than welcome to not come back but I'm busy and I'm going to eat my lunch that's now getting cold, Turned her back and walked away. I was absolutely shocked. I will never step foot in this establishment again and I suggest whoever owns this business to have a customer service training especially for management. The cashier was totally nice it was the manager that really had some issues. I'm sure it doesn't matter as she stated but this store has now lost a customer. read more
