Set design, costumes, choreography, singing, music, acting were all top notch. Some of the things you should know before you go. 1) Parking can be a challenge because they don't have their own garage. There are several garages nearby (about a block walking distance), but you will want to arrive really early to make sure you have time to find a space, make your way to the theater, and find your seat before the show starts. We were coming from Richardson, so we knew we would need over an hour to travel there, but because of the parking situation, we left even earlier at 11:30 am for a 1:30pm show time start. 2) The building is quite modern. They have several entrances, but you may be asked to wait on the street in the elements before they open the doors and start scanning tickets. Be prepared to stand in the elements. 3) The seats are quite narrow and the arm rest is shared with your seat mate. If you are an average sized American, you might find the average seats quite uncomfortable. The person next to me was blubbering through her seat into mine. She was also very enthusiastic tapping along with the beat. Both things were unpleasant for me. There are box seats that have independent chairs. If I return to this venue, I will pay for one of these to avoid feeling like a sardine. They have an amazing line up of shows. I wish they were closer because I would definitely be a season ticket holder so that I could enjoy every single one of their amazing shows.

I recommend buying tickets in advance as their arena gets packed. Checkin starts an hour before the comedians take the stage. They have a bar with some beer, wine and cocktail options. Unfortunately no food here. I recommend having your dinner before coming here. Seats are nice and staff are very friendly. As we walked in we noticed others who checked in before us started writing things on a piece of paper so comedians have some improv ideas to perform. Comedians were very funny throughout the show. The show lasted for a couple of hours. They even brought in a couple of audience members and added them to their show. Overall, all of us had a great time. Absolutely worth it. Ambiance was great. Nice clean restrooms. Parking can be hard to find. There is a parking garage nearby. I think it's free for a couple of hours.

An Unforgettable Night of Theatre…read more I recently saw Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical at the historic Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie, Texas, and it was an incredible experience. Many years ago, while serving as a soldier in Hawaii, I had the opportunity to see a professional production of Les Misérables in Honolulu. That experience stayed with me for decades and became my personal standard for what musical theatre could make an audience feel. I never expected a production in an intimate theatre in Grand Prairie to bring me back to that feeling, but it did. Somehow, this production made a smaller theatre feel like a full-scale Broadway experience. Director Michael Brown and the entire company created something special. The production flowed beautifully. The actors didn't simply enter, deliver their lines and leave. The production seemed to breathe. The music, lighting, costumes, movement, staging and performances all worked together to bring this dark Victorian world to life. Brendan Reimer, portraying both Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, was fascinating to watch. I have loved the story of Jekyll and Hyde since childhood, so watching one actor bring both sides of this character to life right in front of me was something I will remember for a long time. After the show, I had the opportunity to meet Brendan. After watching him portray so much darkness and conflict onstage, I found him to be kind, sincere and gracious. That conversation was a wonderful ending to an already remarkable evening. And I have to mention Poole! After a lifetime of being fascinated with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, somehow Poole became my favorite character of the night. I definitely didn't see that coming! To Michael, Brendan, the entire cast, musicians, lighting and sound teams, designers, technicians, volunteers and everyone working behind the scenes, thank you for reminding me why I love theatre. From Les Misérables in Honolulu to Jekyll & Hyde in Grand Prairie, some performances simply stay with you. Five stars from me. What an unforgettable night. My husband and I watched Pan Arcadia last night, it was a whimsical interpretation of the Peter Pan and Wendy story told by human actors as puppets (but also as themselves). I've got to admit I was very confused as to what was happening for many of the scenes but was able to get the general gist at the end. Let's just say- if you don't already know the Peter Pan story, I imagine you would be hopelessly lost. The live music was wonderful, fitting, soothing, and carried great for being in an outdoor theater. The acting was very sincere. Since you are exposed to the elements you might notice huge insects and spiders but they at least offer complimentary bug spray around the premises. This is a novel way to do date night and definitely worth a try.

There are ample opportunities to volunteer and be involved in the process. We were fortunate to meet the owner Jeffrey Smith, and enjoyed having a drink and discussing the significant renovations. Jeffery let us check out the theater. They had Viva Las Vegas playing. My wife checked out the Speakeasy, and won't stop talking about amazing the chandeliers are. Jeffrey told us that the first person picks the movie for that showtime from the menu of movies available. The bar is vintage and the area is very comfortable. Really enjoyed and am amazed at the transformation. Can't believe this place isn't filled all the time.
