From the time the class started...it went downhill. As soon as the class started.... she singled me out of about 20 women...(mind you) in the water I was doing the exercise wrong. There was no greeting me....at all. This was my 1st class with her. She went straight to making me feel like I was being singled out...out of all the women (which may have been her regulars). Every sec she got...she was telling me I was doing exercise wrong out of ALL the other 10-15 women in the pool. I thought maybe it is just me but when 2 other ladies noticed it.....no not just me. I was blatantly being singled out in the water aerobics class...once again I have to say....it was alot of other women in the pool. I finally had to ask her not to say anything else to me and I left class. For Anyone going to any class etc..it's the instructors job in my opinion to make the person feel Welcomed! Regina the water instructor did not do that. This is not the YMCA Christian way. This has been my 4th or so week going to this gym and it was good until this last time. I will not ever go to any class she is instructoring again.

I stopped by recently because it was convenient and brought a guest with me. Before doing anything, I asked the woman at the front desk how the guest policy worked. She didn't really explain it and instead just asked for my guest's information. I assumed she was simply checking the system to see if my guest had visited before. I stepped away for a moment to check whether the court was crowded, and while doing that, something came up that required me to leave earlier than expected. When I came back to the desk, I told her never mind and that I needed to leave. She responded, "It's okay, I sent the receipt to your email." That caught me off guard. I assumed it was just confirmation of entering my guest's information, especially since I thought guests used to be free (which is why I asked about the policy beforehand). When I checked my email, I saw that I had been charged $20. The issue isn't the money, it's the lack of communication. Before charging someone, the process and cost should be clearly explained. I've never had issues at the other locations I visit, so this felt like a one off experience, but it's enough that I probably won't return to this location.

My family and I have been using this facility intermittently for over six years, primarily on a more regular basis. Like many working families, we don't always visit the gym as frequently as we would like, which can make the expense seem impractical, yet we opted for autopay for convenience. We often paid $90 a month for several months without utilizing the gym. Recently, we tried to reactivate our membership after it had been inactive since December 2023. It was confirmed that our family's information for eight members was still in the system, and we were told we could continue using our existing membership cards. We were advised that we needed to pay an outstanding balance of 90 plus pay the prorated amount to reactivate our membership. I was very disappointed and felt misled when I returned within 15 minutes to make the payment as instructed and found that I was charged 165 in addition to the 90 balance! When I questioned this discrepancy, I was informed that there was an additional $100 membership fee. The front desk employee, Casey, explained that they do not provide any discounts for long-standing members, regardless of the duration of membership or the many months we have paid without using the facility over the years. Furthermore, there are no discounts or sliding fee scales for larger families. This organization shows a lack of community awareness and empathy for working families on tight budgets and it appears they will engage in deceptive practices without hesitation. If I were to calculate the months we've paid $90 without utilizing the facility, it would easily cover at least ten or more membership fees.

He even guided me towards learning how to use the YCLT+ app on my phone so I could check in without having to use the handheld membership pass. This gym is clean and well ventilated and I love it. I usually go in the morning, so not a lot of people there. I've been to many YMCA in Charlotte and this is one of my favorites. In the morning, it's an older crowd. Which is great for me I'm not looking for a show stopping crowd. I go to the gym to work out and for my health not for a runway show so if that's what you're looking for this is the YMCA for you. This YMCA also provides workout classes as well that you can choose from that's included with your membership. There's also a swimming pool and a locker room where you can shower after each workout. There's a basketball court and also childcare area, but I'm not sure how that works. There is also lots of parking.

The indoor pool at the McCrorey Branch was fantastic, a nice respite on a very rainy day. The lifeguard and entire staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. Everything was clean, from the front lobby, locker room, to the pool. I highly recommend the McCrorey YMCA for everyone.

The areas for parking can get a bit complex and overrun at times when there is more than one little league game or youth soccer match happening at the same time. Some parents get pretty creative and strategic with their mini van placement.

For the record I had on Birkenstocks and I wear these shoes all the time to the gym and they've never said ANYTHING nor have I ever had an issue. I understand it's for safety to have fitted shoes but I don't always bring extra shoes with me every where I go, especially because I was just tryna make a quick stop to work out after running errands all day. A YMCA membership is not cheap, respectfully they shouldn't be kicking their guest out for not having proper attire.
