We could admit the first review is correct but............ as the other reviews will tell you, Fort Knox has been experiencing incredible growth over the last year. We attribute this growth to Fort Knox's core principles.
Fort Knox dedicates itself to giving back and being an active participant in the communities that we serve. Our employees are encouraged to take advantage of any and all opportunities to participate in any activity that benefits our community.
Fort Knox is also an active participant in many charity organizations. We are very active with Batterred Women's organizations, Autism Awareness org., Cancer research, Animal Shelters.......... the list goes on and on. Fort Knox encourages it's employees to bring to our attention any charitable organizations that the employee thinks is worthwhile and would like to help. This is a tremendous driving force behind Fort Knox's success. Colleen Hodgins our Operations Manager opened every facility prior to Hurricaine Sandy & offered free storage to anyone who needed to protect their belongings. Afterwards, Colleen along with her family coordinated a huge relief effort for Staten Island & Breezie Points in Queens. She could not have done this without the support of the community, who donated clothes, supplies, blankets etc for all those families who were left with nothing. They knew with Colleen heading this, they were assured help was on its way. She was commended for her efforts by local & national organaztions. Her only statement was how proud she was to be a part of this community.
Of course, like all businesses, Fort Knox wants to be financially successful, not only for the benefit of ownership and staff, but the more profitable Fort Knox becomes, the more opportunities if affords us to give back. It is a catch 22 that we at Fort Knox are very proud of.
Unfortuately, a by product of such rapid growth and success is that occasionally there will be some bumps in the road. The sytems and procedures we used when we had just one or two stores were very good and well thought out. Now that we are getting bigger, some of them have not worked as successfully as we had hoped. The home office is one of those situations. In an effort to keep our rental rates some of the lowest in the area we have centralized our management/accounting to one location. One silly problem we encountered right off the bat was our accounts payable. We were getting all of our bills sent to us at Fort Knox Self Storage. It is ver easy to tell which store the bills belonged to when they were mailed to the actual stores. Now that they are all coming to one address we had a huge problem on our hands. This is just one of the little problems that we have encountered during our growth. There are many more but we are addressing them as fast as we can. So we apologize for any delay any of our vendors and / or customers have had in reaching our home office or receiving a payment. We are actively adjusting our systems and procedures to correct these delays.
As you will also see one of the biggest complaints we have is that our stores are too full. Customers sometimes find it difficult to find the exact size they are looking for. But if you will read on in these reviews you will find Fort Knox takes this negative and in short order turns it into a huge positive for the consumer.
In closing, Fort Knox would like to thank everyone for helping make our company as successful as it can be. All of us at Fort Knox work very hard every day to exceed our customer's expectations and very much look forward to exceeding yours. Please come visit any of our 4,5,6......locations and let us show you how we do it.
Sincerely,
West Solloway, owner
