We had a great time for my adult $5 admission, and my two young children were free. My four year old, who is over the moon about dinosaurs these days, excitedly played in the sandbox downstairs, and completed the crafts in the craft room during Dino Days. He was full of questions about all of the dinosaur skeletons, the video upstairs, and wanted half the items in the gift shop. He and I talked about the dinosaur footprints, and compared them to his feet. He excitedly tromped around looking at everything. We really enjoyed our trip, and took advantage of the Dino Days experience. As we were the first into the room for the 3D movie downstairs, the man running the movie was very nice to start it over for us since it had just started. As the title screens were still appearing, several other groups entered the room, making it fortunate timing for all involved. We followed our visit with a trip to Pickles and Pottery around the corner, where I had my four year old paint his very own ceramic stegosaurus. He coated it in mottled paint gleefully, talking all the while about dinosaurs. A week later we were able to pick up the finished glossy piece. The Sherman Museum is a wonderful place to take children. The staff are friendly and helpful; visitors are welcomed to walk through at their leisure, and enjoy all the museum has to offer. If you're a fellow parent, you will appreciate this as kids are often on their own schedule, choosing to walk past one exhibit, then stand and stare at triceratops for ten minutes... then come back later and walk around triceratops for another ten just to take it all in. For weeks following our visit my four year old has not forgotten what a good time he had, and continues to ask on most days, "Mom, is it Dino Day yet?" I expect we will be making at least one more visit to the Sherman Museum before Dino Days are extinct.

Because there are so many animals, they are a bit cramped. While the tour guide was interesting and funny, he talked way too much and the tour was very rushed at the end.

Located right next door to the Finley Theater in Sherman Texas. There isn't a bad sit in this house! You get a great view of the stage from every angle, and get to be up close to the stage. The stage placement and arrangement is amazing and gives the spot so much character as they are able to do wonders with the stage! I recently took my daughter to see James and the Giant Peach and we had an amazing time during the performance. After the show everyone mingles to meet with the cast! We were not planning to spend more than 5-10 minutes there. We just wanted to walk around and see what machines they had to offer, as we were looking for a good "gaming" business to visit for a family-night-out. There was no one in the arcade, judging from the empty parking lot and a lack of bodies in a very open room upon walking in. The first thing you see is a room full of retro-style arcade machines such as PAC-MAN and Galaga. Two middle aged women greeted us at the front door. One was working behind a bar, and the other was standing beside the bar counter. I approached the woman beside the bar counter and asked if we could have a quick look around, and then leave. She definitively told us no, because the machines were "free to play." Basically... you pay $10 for a full day of free-range play on all of the machines. After telling us no, she did not say anything more... instead motioning towards the bar to show us the drink and food options they offered. First of all... why would you expect people to give you their business if you do not advertise the products/machines you offer? There was no way to figure out what machines they had unless you walked around for yourself. Second... I understand not wanting customers to play your machines without paying. But there was no one in the arcade. These two women were just standing around when my mother and I first came in. She couldn't have stood at the doorway and just monitor us while we looked around to see what they offered? Third... if you REALLY don't want risk your customers stealing your services to the point that you don't want to monitor them while they browse, then OFFER to SHOW them around. I don't think it's very good for business to flat out refuse customers the way that they did and then offer no alternative. The whole interaction was very off-putting... so my Mom and I walked out once we realized the woman was not going to work with us in any way. We almost considered not going back at all as a result. Granted, the woman was not rude per-se. I did not find there to be any malice or during our interaction, but the attitude we received was odd. We did not find the place to be very welcoming. However... I did go back once by myself. They have a wide variety of machines to offer. They also offer both retro-style arcade machines as well as more modern-choices. The $10 price tag is great for the amount of playtime you get. They do offer a bar and food menu, but I did not sample these services.

Mr. Jenkins has a pick your own peach, plum and blackberry farm just north of Bonham, Texas. It was a nice drive and a great way to spend a Saturday morning with the family. The peaches were absolutely amazing... we ate some right off the tree as we filled our baskets. They were large, perfectly ripe and bursting with flavor. They were great as a snack, delicious in peach cobbler and a perfect pair for French vanilla ice cream! Please be respectful of the trees and don't pull on the limbs to get that peach that's just out of your reach. Unfortunately we saw way too many broken limbs. Come on people, there are plenty of peaches for everyone. Call in advance for hours and availability. This week they were closing at 1 PM due to the extreme heat. Enjoy!
