After several lessons with another driving school, my daughter was still extremely anxious behind the wheel. She was scared to accelerate and hadn't even learned basic skills like parking or making a U-turn. Then she started working with Ned, and everything changed. He did an excellent job of safely pushing her out of her comfort zone while making her feel secure. He challenged her in the right ways, gave constant feedback, and clearly explained what she needed to improve. it's been a very long story with the Formula Driving School: my husband and his siblings took lessons with it 20 years ago or so, so naturally it became my choice as well! My personal experience has been very pleasant overall: the office team was always very accommodating. I was on and off with my lessons in the course of 2.5 years, tried 4 instructors, however, I would like to emphasize on my very last experience which was with Julliehus! The instructors were always on time and both my kids responded well to their different instructors. The online interface and text reminders were very helpful. They were also very responsive when I talked to them by phone. Just a note to say that my younger son passed on his first try while his older sister did not. I am struggling with writing this review. I am a repeat customer. My son did driving lessons with Formula One 3 years ago and they really gave him the skills he needed to pass his driving test. My daughter was taking Driver's Ed through her school but once school shut down due to the pandemic, her driving lessons stopped. We continued practicing at home but when driving schools starting opening back up again, I immediately signed her up for a package at Formula One for the summer. I was very happy with the precautions being taken due to COVID. She had her own steering wheel cover and masks were worn. My issue: she just took her driving test. She did not just fail but she failed miserably. Formula One had scheduled her driving test as part of the package. I did not realize that she was the last appointment of the day. Her instructor told her it was actually the worst time to take the test. I called Formula One to see if I could get some feedback from her instructor on what exactly went wrong and what the next steps were. They said that they could reschedule her driving test for a fee of $200. Seriously! We never even had to use the 5 hour class as part of her package since she took it at school. It has been crickets on hearing any feedback from her instructor. In early September, she had done most of her lessons and I was concerned that there be would too much of a gap between her lessons and her driving test. I called to book more appointments but was told there was no availability. I am constantly recommending Formula One to friends and to groups that I belong to but the lack of response or feedback has been thinking that we are just a number to them. I understand that teens get nervous on their driving tests but she had a crazy number of points taken off. It is disappointing to say the least. read more

I have NO clue why this place has such a low rating. I am from NYC so learning how to drive was a WHOLE new experience for me. The instructors are so nice, and they offer great tips for driving. They're very approachable and they will gladly answer any question. One thing that I love and really appreciate is how, whenever you make a mistake, they fully explain what you did wrong, and let you know that it's okay to make mistakes. I tend to beat myself up over it, and I've had the instructors pull over and explain that it's okay. As one of them says, "Rome wasn't built in a day!" The ladies on the phone are really kind as well. They're very clear with any question you ask, and they are just great people. My family has been coming here for YEARS, since the late 80's. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn to drive and to be calm on the road. read more

I used formula one for my son and daughter and I have only great things to say! They just took my daughter for a lesson and then brought her to the road test right after the lesson and she felt calm and so comfortable. They were extremely understanding when we had to cancel a lesson right before the pandemic. When we didn't feel comfortable being in close proximity. When they were allowed to open they had all the safety protocol at the ready. Wouldn't use any other driving school!!! read more

I have had a wonderful experience with Formula One Driving School and my instructor Eugene. I initially was unsure about what amount of lessons to take, I did an evaluation lesson which was one hour. From that point I felt comfortable with the school's recommendation of 10 lessons. From scheduling the lessons and road test, to the five hour class I feel that Formula One has been incredibly helpful. I was called every week to remind me of my upcoming lesson and always called by the instructor when he arrived at my door. Before driving with Eugene, my instructor, I was very nervous while driving. I would lose confidence easily and did not feel comfortable. After only a few lessons with Eugene I began to feel much more confident driving. He was very calm, put me at ease and we had great conversation. I learned everything I needed to for the exam, and he answered all of my questions. Finally, when it came time for my test I was very nervous. Eugene told me, " Just drive how you do during the lesson, and you will be great." I passed!!! not worth the money. I went to watch my 5 hour course and the tv "wasn't working" so I had to sit and listen to a guy speak for 5 hours never got to watch the video. Bought the $199 pack which includes a 1 hour driving class and pickup/drop off to the road test. Initially thought it was expensive but last minute tips and pointers to really avoid was quite helpful. I'm sure everyone going in knows how to drive but those who fail usually get deducted on small things. read more

I had the pleasure working with my driving instructor, Ira. I am a cooperative student, but I am not a very intuitive learner by nature. I came to him after failing my first road test with an instructor (from a different school) that I did not enjoy very much. Ira is a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point type of teacher. He MADE SURE I was ready before taking the road test. With over 30 years of teaching experience, he has figured out all the science behind the wheels, so he made everything so easy to understand. When he criticized me, it was always in a constructive way with helpful tips. He even made a fool-proof sheet on parallel parking for all his students! He has an intelligent way of building his students' driving skill as well as their confidence and mental security, which are extremely crucial if you tend to get nervous for tests like me. He may be a bit old school for some people, but he reminds me of a caring teacher who really wants the best for his students. I passed the test. Thank you, Ira and Formula One School! Jose also worked with my son and gave him many tips on being a safe driver and helping him pass his road test on the first try. i really have to say that starting off, this is my second time taking my permit test over, last time i did it was in high school, i have been going on a three year battle to get it back, not that i have, i couldnt think of a better place to have taken the five hour course, from the first phone call i was handled with such great service, mind you i had called around and there werent any open appointments until october, yes at first i was wait listed but because of their organizalitional skills, i got the call that i was in, i arrived early as thats when i could come, the class went great, ira was so funny and informational as teacher, mind you ive been driving for ten years, and there were things i didnt know..im thrilled to have everything done and i am using them for my road test as well, cant wait wish me luck! read more

Very disappointing experience. Depending on who you get on the phone you get conflicting information. I paid 500 of and 800 package and before 1/2 way through was going to call to expand the lessons. I found out without my permission they charged my credit card the balance owed without me authorizing the charge. When I called they said it is automatic. Would have been nice if I was told or at lest called. Instructor was OK. Office is a nightmare..My son failed road test by 5 point. . I do not blame them for that. I do blame them for lack of communication and consistency from the staff in office. Confusion from the very first day! look around.
