He offered us to taste his organic wines, see the photo. They were all fresh and crisp. We started with the Xarel-lo grape. Xarel·lo is a white grape variety of Spanish origin specially grown in Catalonia. we then tasted the Garnache rose grape. 3rd glass was the Tempranillo, and the final was the Vermouth. The Vermouth was not sweet as i thought it might be. Very much more like a digestif. He was very helpful and we appreciated the experience.

However, there are genuine contenders like Mercat de Sant Antoni housed in a beautiful, mid-19th-century octagon-shaped building (review: https://yelp.to/QfoN2pYfE_) and this one just rebuilt in 2005 with a kaleidoscopic roof designed as a ceramic wave. It's a more modern space inside with fresh seafood and produce stands alternating with spice purveyors and prepared food counters. All of it looked appetizing though there wasn't much seating on the premises. Through its various iterations in the atmospheric La Ribera neighborhood, the market has been here since 1848.
