I even found pani puris in this small place on a small street in Las Ramblas. Something that I dearly miss here in Dublin. Let me say, this is more of an Indian/Pakistani shop than asian. The owner is nice and helpful to find stuff, answer questions. They speak Spanish, English and Hindi just in case you need translation of some specific ingredient names. The shop is very reasonably priced and if you come here often and buy in bulk, you can ask for a discount. I got some. Would highly recommend it!

If you're Catalan and you're looking for food that you can only find in America this is also your deal. Great selection of Candy (like Nerds and Reese's) along with special holiday items, and cake mixes, baking supplies, barbecue sauce, chocolate chips, baking pans, pastries, sodas, tortilla chips, maple syrup, etc. The people at the counter are pretty nice, which is good. The food is a little expensive, but being imported there's not much you can change about that. In a really nice neighborhood, on a pretty busy street, right near the ferrocarrils, so it's pretty simple to get here. Awesome stop!

We were unawares of this and had gone there looking for some gourmet snacks to bring home to relatives. The bottom floor holds the liquors while the upstairs holds the wines. Very large selection of liquors (even Japanese surprisingly). In a corner, in the back (on the bottom floor) there is a very small selection of cheeses & prosciutto if you have guests over and don't have time to make another stop to grab some snacks to go with your drinks. In the front by the cashier, there is also a small selection of cookies, biscuits, and canned goods (sardines, olives, etc). We bought 2 bottles of wine that were reasonably priced to make sangria and it turned out great! Definitely stop by if you need some wine/liquors.

Me: Let's get a glass One thing we've discovered is that almost every place we've had wine at, we have never been disappointed, even from the cheap happy hour wines. This is something places in the U.S. can learn from. We took our glasses and stood at this barrel. There were several in front and used as small tables. Me: I'll be back. I went to the bakery next door and bought a baguette. 80 cents. I then went back into the Boqueria and bought a wedge of brie cheese and two chicken empanadas. After I came back, we got another couple of glasses of wine and proceeded to enjoy a simple lunch. Lots of tourists roaming around, and a few stared at what we were doing. The only downside is that a couple of homeless people came by begging for money. A firm "NO" usually discourages them, and as long as you don't smile or look them in the eye, they'll go away. If you start saying, 'Oh, I'm sorry, I don't have any change," you're opening the door to a conversation. The partner does this and I just laugh because he just keeps telling them "no" in that polite way, and they won't leave. I miss Barcelona! (I'll be saying this about every town we were in)

At Vins Xic Gourmet, their wine selection in the back room is especially good (see photos here & on their Facebook page). If you happen to find yourself staying on Carrer de Casp (which we did), this is a good neighborhood gourmet food place to visit, for just about anything you might need. The owner is also very nice & friendly ^_^
