It was time for some breakfast last weekend and Forked at waterside was in our sights. The ambiance was typical diner/ breakfast restaurant at its best which was what I look for when it comes to a comfortable place for breakfast. The service was decent no long wait etc, the waitress shared her suggestions etc. Now the food: we ordered chicken and waffles and the waffle was cooked just right but the chicken had no good crunchy batter and was bland, eggs Benedict was ok but the hollandaise lacked that silky buttery lemon flavor that makes a hollandaise stand out the cheesy hash browns were ok once I added some ketchup and the pancakes were your basic pancakes which is ok, but no wow factor. Overall if you want to have a basic no frills breakfast this spot would be for you, but for me it was a little too bland. Food 7.0 Ambiance 7.5 Service 8.0

Atmosphere is fresh and bright with farmhouse vibes, clean lines and Simplistic decor. Inside is about 25 to 30 seating arrangements. Exposed industrial ceilings with plenty of lighting with white exposed brick. Lots of great items for breakfast and lunch here got things from crepes and pancakes to more traditional things like omelettes. Fresh pressed orange juice hot tea just to name a few. Service is also good!

I was so excited to try this place! It is so cute inside and they had a live performer during Saturday breakfast who was phenomenal. Unfortunately, the food here was not very good for anyone I went with. All of us tried the Forked Benedict but we all of us had issues with it. All of us had frozen or cold hash browns, basically hard boiled (not poached) eggs, and soggy English muffins. The hollandaise was not very good either. It tasted like it was made from a powder. We also had espresso drinks and those were good but the latte had more foam than the cappuccino. We told our server, who was very kind about it, and he brought me pancakes to replace the hash browns and brought my friend a new English muffin. However for this price, I will not be returning.

The place is charming. The service is goods there's street parking here and the place is adorable. It can get pretty busy on weekends. The food and drinks here are pretty great. Also we were pretty impressed on how fast the food came out. And they were busy. Even then the food came out real fast and so did the drinks. We had some French toast and some apresso martinis. Overall the taste was perfect. This place makes real nice food.

Loud and good We had a good visit to Forked, starting before we even arrived. Thanks to one of the reviews on Yelp we learned we could call ahead and get added to their waitlist, shaving 20 minutes off of what would have been a 40 minute wait. It was also Sunday so after checking in we spent the other 20 minutes walking around the Farmers Market at Waterside. The time passed quickly. I had checked out their menu online and looked forward to trying their Let's Hash It Out, a corned beef hash dish with two eggs, hash browns or fruit, and toast or pancakes. I picked fruit because I'm trying to eat healthier, and the pancakes so I can soak them in syrup, a decidedly less healthy decision. It was a very good breakfast. The food took about 10 minutes to arrive, a good time for a restaurant that was busy. I was a little surprised with the hash. I typically see cubed or even smaller pieces of corn beef combined with potato and maybe other ingredients like onion or green pepper. Not at Forked, it was a pile of shredded corned beef with very few potato cubes. There was no question the dish had lots of savory corned beef. Different than usual. Parking in the area was challenging partly because of the Farmers Market, but we got a spot that was being vacated. The restaurant was loud. Service was great, from the pleasant hostess who remembered us from when we checked in when it was our turn to be seated, to our helpful server who did a perfect job.

Second visit was a huge disappointment. Walked in, maybe 5 tables with guest, and counter completely empty. I'm alone, asked if counter was open. I'm figuring you'll get better service at the counter if you're all by yourself. Hostess ask what I would like to drink? Off to a good start. Hostess brings my water and coffee no spoon no cream and walks away quicker than I could ask for either one. I figure it's OK. My server will be right up six minutes later no one has come by the counter. In fact, I only saw one server who was busy bringing refill drinks to another table. Got up to see hostess, no hostess. Guess no food for me. Off I go to eat elsewhere. Food pics are from my first visit. Drink special menu is from today's July 2024 disappointment visit.

We decided to stop in Sarasota for a quick lunch halfway through our recent road trip and…read morediscovered the beautiful Waterside Place neighborhood. There are quite a few restaurants to choose from in this little area, and Allswell caught our eye. It is a elevated gastrobar and Irish pub serving up comfort food favorites. The interior has a vintage art deco feel and it was pretty chill on a late Sunday afternoon. We got a table inside -- they also have a large outdoor patio, but it's too hot right now. The service was quick which we appreciated. I started with the zero-proof "Spritz Me Softly" (lyres italian aperitif, sparkling lemonade, fever tree elderflower tonic, & citrus) which was light and refreshing. For food, we ordered the French onion soup and the classic fish & chips. Both were delicious and their fries are perfection. They have really mastered the French onion soup. My reason for giving 4 stars is that they seem to have a fly problem inside, which made the experience much less enjoyable. We were being swarmed by tons of flies throughout our entire meal, constantly swatting them away. They kept landing on my husband & son's heads. We were seated at the table nearest to the kitchen. All the doors & windows were closed, so it was a bit concerning that there were so many. Hopefully they get that issue sorted out.

AGAIN, another awesome experience at Allswell! Went yesterday for Mother's Day and enjoyed another…read moregreat meal! Had no problem getting reservations a few dates before, had a great outdoor table that was definitely better than being inside. Our server-Makayla, arrived immediately, helped us through their brunch menu and returned shortly with our drinks. I have to tell ya that their "limitless" Bloody Marys and Mimosas for only $25 is a great deal!! Of course we had to order their FAMOUS Banana Old Fashioned, a Bloody Mary and a Hugo Spritz. We ordered the following brunch entrees: -Truffle Mushroom Omelette -Signature Allswell Burger -Full Monty Sandwich -Chicken & Waffle Stack EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, HOT AND VERY TASTY! Job WELL DONE the Vicky and her ENTIRE team! This place is definitely my new go to place to eat. Can't wait to see their new restaurant concept that's going into the old McGrath's location on Main Street in LWR. If they do as good of a job there as they do in Waterside, I'll definitely have another place to add to my 'regular' places to go!

From Our Favorite Weekly Date Night to a Restaurant We Won't Be Returning To…read more For the past three months, my wife and I have made Zoto our Thursday night tradition. Every single Thursday, without missing a week, we've chosen this restaurant for our date night. We typically spend $150-$200 per visit, sometimes even coming twice in the same week. Unfortunately, what was once a place we genuinely enjoyed has become an increasingly disappointing experience. Over the past month, the quality of service has deteriorated to an unacceptable level. Waiting 30 minutes for a simple drink has become frustratingly common. What makes it worse isn't just the wait--it's the complete lack of acknowledgment. No apology, no explanation, not even a basic courtesy to let us know what's happening. And this is happening even when the restaurant is nowhere near full. The cleanliness and overall atmosphere are equally concerning. The countertops near the high-chair seating area are visibly dusty, which is disappointing for a restaurant positioning itself as an upscale dining destination. Adding to the unwelcoming atmosphere is a chef who regularly works in full view of guests with an unpleasant, seemingly irritated expression. While I don't expect anyone to smile constantly, I do expect a restaurant to create an environment where guests feel welcome rather than uncomfortable. The most disappointing part is that we genuinely wanted to keep coming back. We weren't occasional visitors who happened to have one bad experience. We were loyal, weekly customers who consistently chose Zoto over countless other dining options in Sarasota. That loyalty, however, seems to mean very little. At $150-$200 per visit, I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect attentive service, basic cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere. Price alone doesn't make a restaurant upscale. Hospitality, consistency, and attention to detail do. After giving Zoto multiple chances over the past several weeks, we've finally decided to take our Thursday date nights elsewhere--somewhere our business feels appreciated and the food and service justify the price. A beautiful restaurant can attract customers once. Only exceptional hospitality makes them want to return. Unfortunately, Zoto seems to have forgotten that. What a shame to see a place we once loved become somewhere we no longer look forward to visiting.
