The manager of the oil change place claimed that my car was old and that it wasn't their fault. I initially took my car to a different shop for a diagnostic, and that shop claimed the oil cooler was broken, and quoted me $3700 to fix it. I was floored by this, because the online quote from the same shop was $500-650. After they refused to budge, I found Ernie's who gave me a far more reasonable quote for the same repair. I had my car towed there, and got a call from Ernie's almost immediately. Imagine my surprise when Ernie's said that whoever had changed my oil had left the o ring off, and that's why it was leaking oil. The first shop had missed this obvious issue, and proceeded to quote me an exorbitant amount for a repair my car didn't need. Ernie's fixed it and I picked my car up the same day. I have had no other problems. Total repair was $16. Unfortunately for Ernie's they now have a customer for life. :) Save your time and come here first. They have always been very reasonably priced and have never tried to convince me i needed more work than i really did (age old shop scam)... In reality, they've done the opposite and talked me out of spending money for work that didnt need done (ex: i asked them to put new plugs in while having something else done, he said he would if i insisted, but would feel guilty knowing that my plugs were perfectly fine).. I really appreciated that as im on 'fixed income'.. So nice to know there's still people out there that can see customers as other people and not just dollar signs :) I give a full 5 stars and will continue using them as my primary mechanic for as ling as they're open, and I'm still living in town :)

A Motorcraft water pump sells for $52.99 on Rock Auto. "While we are in there, may as well replace timing belt, tensioner and accessory drive belt." My Ford owners manual says to replace timing belt at 150K but ok, it is an ugly job. Gave me a matter of a fact quote for $2400+. I had a brand new Gates accessory belt which he refused to use. I have 2 kids at University and was just just trying to defray some cost. Now I know why, I was charged at least 3x the retail cost on all parts. $70 for Napa coolant and I kid you not $5 for a screw?I am a capitalist and a car guy but 3x cost on parts seems like price gouging. I was hoping to save a few dollars with an independent shop. Not at all, Ford dealer would have done it for that price and after the fact, Tuffy quoted me $1900 but just an estimate. I had Harris do the work and am appreciative that it was done the next day as my wife needs her car but will not be back, not impressed by the service nor the price. I did have a 10% off labor coupon so that helped. Just my experience and opinion.

Second repair, he also tore down my mower before even giving me a new estimate. When I asked for it back as is, he said he'd have to charge me just to put it back together.
