Shawna greeted me as soon as I entered the store and proceeded to tell me about sales and their inventory room out back. When I explained what gift I was looking for she showed me a few items and then offered an idea which was something I hadn't thought about before. Finding just the right size and color took a bit of time-- who knew lux cotton could be so so elegant! Shawna stuck with me and offered opinions and recommendations. Finally- ended up with a unique and very special gift. Thank you Shawna!

Location was nice and you can see the Old Harbor outside. but as you enter - my goodness was the scent so heavenly and relaxing!! I immediately drifted to the soap bar shelf and had the best time smelling them lol The scents were amazing and the soap packaging was beautiful. If you plan to give them for gifts, they are all ready to hand out! I love that there is a "portsmouth" soap sleeve and its cute that they named some of the soaps after things or areas around the town such "prescott gardens", "whaleback lighthouse" etc. There are other things to choose from there aside from soaps and have plenty of accessories and gift items as well. The staff was very pleasant during our visit and we actually enjoyed chatting about how she was from NY, moved to NH and loved it. Very tempting thought lol anyway, you have got to check this shop out whenever you're in Portsmouth and hopefully you'll love it as much as I did.

Stopping in at this Tuscan Village location was the first time I was aware of this store brand. It…read morewas an awesome shop to check out and I appreciate their mission. Creating less harsh plant based soaps and other products. My wife and I both have been trying to be more thoughtful in our shower products and soaps as well. So this brand is a great example of what is available. You step foot indoor and your nose is greeted with a variety of scents immediately. We then browsed their wide variety of products that included hand soaps, bath bombs, candles, body wash, laundry products, and the most abundant seemed to be their soap bars. Everything had a ton of scent options and especially their soap bars had a ton of color variety with a lot of them being bright and intense. Prices seemed reasonable for what you got for most things. As you may know typically healthy stuff with less additives and less harsh usually cost more as they aren't as mass produced. While we didn't buy anything this particular visit it's a brand I will remember in the future. The real reason for the knock down of a star to 4 instead of 5 comes down to the customer service or should I say lack of. We checked out a lot of places during our visit to Tuscan Village and almost every place multiple people greeted us with a "hello" or "hey how is it going" with the only exception being here. Not even an acknowledgment when walking in, or offering to answer any questions. Both people working seemed much too focused on their computers than to care for customer interaction. A little effort can go a long way in this aspect. In the end I like the goal of Buff City Soap and their products seemed awesome just could work on their customer service.

She asked us questions to understand our needs and then showed us products to help. She and the rest of the crew were so warm and friendly! We had a wonderful experience. After using the products at home in CA for a few months, I knew I'd fallen in love. I've placed several orders since my trip last year both for myself and loved ones. Each time I order, I'm shocked by how quickly I receive my products seeing as they have to come all the way across the country to reach me. Each order has had a hand-written personal note from Sophie thanking me for my purchase. So sweet! I also have sent a few emails asking questions or for recommendations and always get a kind, thoughtful and thorough response. It's so different from most commercial businesses and I love it so very much. It's these types of little touches, the extra care and effort, that keep me constantly looking forward to when I can visit again in person.
