I used this company when I purchased my co-op and I spent thousands. The work was done well and the price seemed a little high but was comparable to others. I called them recently because I had an issue with an GFI plug that tripped and wouldn't come back on. I thought i checked the circuit breaker correctly but apparently did not. F.H. Electrical reset the circuit breaker and attached the plug back into the wall all done in 10 minutes. I got an invoice the next day for $ 321.00!!! My bad for trusting that they wouldn't do something like this and so I never asked the cost upfront. I have to take some blame for this I guess... read more

my panel got submerged from flood water and FHEC recommended that they replace a bunch of my breakers that were rusted. some wiring was also not done properly from past work. Beshuan replaced 7 breakers quickly. I asked if there was any other remediation I needed due to the flood problems (i replaced outlets myself already) and he said no, I'm all good. I had to call 5 different electrical contractors to do work in my co-op. I found some off of Angie's list and home advisor. I had contractors who never showed up, people who never got back to me after showing up. Some quotes were lower, and one quote was higher. At the end of the day Beshaun was on time, prepared, professional and provided a detailed estimate. He showed up fully prepared to do the work. His workers were professional. They got the job done in time as promised and cleaned up after themselves. I felt comfortable enough to leave them in my home while I was at work. I had him install 4 sets of track lights, and over head lights in 2 closets and one room that had none, along with a ceiling fan. All new wiring had to be run for everything. read more

We had a wonderful recent experience contracting with Forest Hills Electrical. I called Paul right before the New Year, and he was able to come a few days later to visit our place to walk through our needs and would later provide an estimate. He showed up with one of his guys, told him what we wanted, and he walked me and my wife through how he would approach the project, what type of material he would recommend, and how long he think it might take. A few days later Paul emailed me as promised. I had several questions and his responses were prompt. When we settled on the scope of work and I signed the paperwork, he provided all the necessary paperwork my co-op requires to have work performed. Once it was all approved, he scheduled a date for the work to be performed. A week before the scheduled date, I re-confirmed our appointment and again he promptly replied. Fast forward to the date of work, Paul and his crew show up on time as promised. They came in 30 minutes before work could officially start in the building to survey the apartment and prep. They helped move furniture that needed to be moved, covered every surface of furniture and flooring. Paul explained what was going to happen at each major turn and received my opinion when needed (e.g. where to place a light switch). They were incredibly efficient and for all the dirt and dust they drew up, incredibly neat as well. They finished their work within the time frame originally anticipated and were out of the apartment by 3pm. Paul and his crew were really great. We now have the new lighting we wanted, it looks professionally done, and other than the patches for the small holes they made that will eventually be painted, you could never tell that a crew of four guys were running around my apartment all day running wire, making holes, etc. I would highly recommend Forest Hills Electrical Contracting to anyone. I met Paul (owner) for an estimate to upgrade my electrical panel from fuse to circuit breakers (100amp) plus install a exhaust fan in the bathroom also fix my door bell. The estimate was reasonable and fair. I also asked him to have the City inspect electrical panel. NO Problem he said. Permit was filed by him, copy given to me and posted. They showed up on time, work was completed on time. Paul and his men are very professional, respectful of my home furnishing (protection). They broom swept all work locations. Paul scheduled inspection by the City, kept me informed by phone and email. Inspection day the City showed up and Paul. Paul even told them to wipe their feet as they entered my home. He kept me informed of what has happening. IN THE END THE CITY PASSED THE WORK HE PERFORMED. I picked a very professional electrician. I am very pleased with his work. He will be the only 1 I will call for all my electrical needs. The only Con I can think of is they didn't wear booties over their boots to protect my carpet.. Like a lot of reviews on here, we had been using a different contractor who was extremely disappointing - you nearly had to beg him to do the job he said he was going to do. I needed a quick dining room light change (which we had attempted to do ourselves but ended up blowing a fuse) and after weeks of waiting for our other contractor to show up, I finally had enough and contacted these guys at Forest Hills Electrical. I should have done this from the start - I made an appointment for the very next day, they showed up on time, were fast and courteous, and the price was in line with my expectations. I'm not exactly sure what the deal is with this company. A few years ago they did a fine job on some kitchen lighting. Today, I had doorbell trouble. Called the same number, got an answer immediately but it was a different fellow who came and did fix the bell at a somewhat inflated price. He came by train and cab. He told me that FHEC farms out to different electricians and someone in charge takes a portion of the bill. Bottom line is you can't be sure of who or what you're getting. P.S- the mechanic just called to tell me he lost the check... this adventure continues. read more

I can not say enough good things about this company and the employes. I had gotten 2 estimates from other area electricians , the proposals included work they said i needed and the quotes were staggering. Forest hills electrical was the last quote , they arrived to the minute expected . took a look explained what i REALLY needed and gave me an estimate on the spot . I tried to hide my shock as they were 4 times less !!!!. That night they emailed me as promised a contract and we booked the appointment , They showed on time did all the work , cleaned up totally the area they worked in the basement and in the tenants apartment . First time this tenant did not complain . These guys are fast, efficient, professional, and most of all, they want to work. We had been contacting a contractor to oversee all the work we wanted done in our house, in addition to electrical, but we were chasing the man down, trying to get a straight answer, a specific start date, a solid estimate. Fed up with that idiot, we were led to this company. I think we were dealing with Beshaun? (spelling?) And what a noticeable difference-- he treated us like we were valuable customers. He communicated with us openly and quickly. When they said they were going to show up, they did, and usually early. Emails sent to them were responded to within a few hours, if even. Their estimate was clear and detailed, so everything made sense. Best of all, during the actual consultation, he didn't just make notes of what needed to be done, but he gave us his professional input, such as what work would be done, what positions for the recess lights would be most practical. He asked us where we wanted the new outlets to be depending on the set up of our new kitchen. Then to the bedrooms, which were a mess -- extension cords were run into the outlets -- and our original contractor would have charged us over $400 to yank those wires out. To be fair...we had no idea the extent of the electrical work or damage, so we couldn't argue the price. He also ran new AC lines in the bedroom and living room down the breaker box. These guys just did it, because it literally took no extra effort. Also Beshaun was honest and upfront -- he said the outlets were fine, and he wasn't going to replace something that was working perfectly. I was stunned -- the douchebag contractor we were going to hire didn't tell us that! Instead he was going to charge us an arm and a leg for it, just so he could get more money out of the entire job. I can't rave enough about these guys. On the day of the job they show up right on time, if not a bit early. They get started working right away, having a set plan of action, and they are bustling about. By 1: 30....they are done. They had said it would be a one day job, but we didn't know it would be completed within a few hours. They walked us through everything and everything looked great. We are definitely planning to use this company again. We couldn't do any kitchen electrical work because we wanted to rip down the old cabinets, and Beshaun advised us that everything would fall out anyway, so it didn't make sense to redo the work twice and waste time and money. Again, love their honesty. So that's our plan. Once we finish the cabinets, we are going to call these guys up, because they give you good quality work, good prices, and they're people you can rely on, ask questions, discuss. Called these folks on the recommendation of someone who used them several years ago. It seems ownership has changed hands or they are contracting work outside. Hide them to fix and outlet which has not worked in several years. It took no time, a simple job. The cost and labor were not the issue. I live in a coop as do many people and I'm sure many of there customers do. The management co requires a copy of their license and insurance emailed. They charged us extra , 1/2 labor for their office to take care of a 2 minute email. Furious but they were already there so...I had called their office early in the am to ask the office to tend to this. They said they didn't see me on the schedule at all. Something really not ok happening here. The outlet works and I paid $250 for the work of which more than 50 of it included sending the email. DON'T use this company. Very shady read more

Called after a stormy night (also saw their van in my block that day coincidentally). Some of the circuits in our house was damaged - where the circuits had power, but low power so that lights on it were dim, and any electronics plugged on it did not turn on at all. Called FH Electrical Contracting and left 2 voicemails. Paul contacted me back in 2-3 hours, and told me that he was in the neighborhood and worked on a neighbor's home - same issue. He told me that he found out that its a Con Edison issue where some of their breakers external to the homes were fried. He told me i didnt need an electrician and it'll be a waste of money. He advised me to wait it out, unplug my electronics, and gave me a coned service ticket number that he (or his customer) opened today. I called Con ed and reported the issue, and when i got home that night, a con ed truck was outside temporarily fixing neighbors that were experiencing the partial blackout on the block. The business is honest, modest and friendly. They saved me money (but not coming in to "check" my issue) and pointed me with the right guidance on fixing it (ConEd + service ticket number) read more

I contacted this company about having extensive work done in our apartment, and Paul came out right away and spent a good deal of time discussing the work, what it would entail and was very friendly. He promised me an estimate by email the next day (this was in mid-October). The estimate never arrived. A few weeks later I tried following up and finally, after a few tries by email and phone, Paul called me back last week and apologized -- it seemed very sincerely -- for having forgotten about me and promised he'd look up his notes and get back to me. He didn't. I called today (Dec. 10) to see what was up. Paul answered the phone, said "I'm sorry but we're not going to be able to do the job," and hung up on me before I could ask why. These guys are terrific. First off my co-op is really picky about credentials for any contractors, and FH Electrical submitted everything fast and correct, and it was OK'd immediately. Then, they were on time (early, even!) with a good attitude and got right to work. In two hours I had the outlets installed that I've needed for years. (Why did I wait so long??) I live in a prewar building and the electrical wires aren't so great, but that's been no problem for the jobs I've had FHE do. They know how to get the work done safely as well as efficiently. Last but not least, they patched everything and cleaned up so well that the place looks cleaner than it did before they arrived. I have used this company twice so far. I had a shortage and heard crackling noises from my ceiling light fixture. I called to set up an appointment. They came over the next day and fixed the shortage and installed two light fixtures. The two electricians are punctual and work efficiently. Very professional! Fixed a horrible job that was done on a ceiling fan today. They explained so many things I didn't even know about how houses are set up in so many different ways with the electric etc. and just did an excellent job with everything. I called and requested an estimate for hallway lighting. When he came I asked him if he could put in a dimmer switch. He did it in two minutes, charged me $155 for the job. $20 for the dimmer switch and $135 for the service call? Super shady and not that smart. Said he was going to send me an estimate and never did. I have used Paul Gennaro and his team from Forest Hills Electric for many jobs, both big and small over the years. They always did great quality work at a price which was high, but fair. It appears that Paul has sold the business and moved on. When I recently had them do a couple of non-emergency jobs at my house, I found the new owner was just as polite and prompt as ever. However, the comprehension of the job was not as good as before, and the price charged was more exorbitant than fair. Finally, I found the finish on one of the jobs to be quite unprofessional, and a subsequent attempt to resolve it with the owner was less than satisfying. I'll keep using them in the future but will make sure pricing and expectations are clearly set out before the job is begun. read more

I invested a lot of time with this Electrical Contracting company after they agreed to do work for a agreed price. A contract was generated, and agreed upon. I cancelled out all other contractors after I proceeded with this contractor. I waited around, had to call several times to find out what the status was after the paperwork went thru my building landlord. The contractor came out and tried to inflate the price, since he said permits and additional paperwork are needed. The requirements is something I let the contractor know beforehand and is also written in contract he sent me. He asked for an $800 increase for him to include his insurance. I again called him, and he informed me he could do it something next month to stall the process since he knows I need the work to be done asap. Beware of contractor, he did not resolve issue even when I gave him the opportunity to correct the issue. Abandoning a customer after a deal is made is not professional. read more
