I contacted Ami at AD Garage Doors and Locks who came across to me as honest, well versed, and experienced. His technician Tom inspected the lock the next day and found that the mechanism had broken to open and close the deadbolt and had to be replaced. Because it was an older wood door and lock, Ami and Tom recommended replacing the original 5" Kwikset deadbolt with a 5" Schlage deadbolt latch that would fit the pre-drilled holes in the door. Tom was able to secure a large enough plate to cover the extra pre-drilled hole in the door and give us a functioning front door lock. AD Garage Doors and Locks completely met my expectations at a reasonable price and I highly recommend them in the Chicago area.

They didn't come during the window and finally arrived almost 2 hours later. The subcontractor who arrived for the job replaced the motor & openers and said the springs also needed replaced but he didn't have them, couldn't get them that day, wouldn't agree to come the next day, we would have to call the company. So we paid him for the work. Expensive at $1350. When requesting service we asked if they take cc and checks. Yes, we were told. The subcontractor said no checks & a 5% fee for cc. The company wouldn't call us back that day to schedule the spring replacement. We scheduled the next day, was given a 2hr window. Late again. A different subcontractor arrived not knowing what work needed to be done, no springs on hand and could not get them that day. So what? Make a 3rd appointment to not get the work completed? No thank you. We will go with someone else.
