That shows that they are willing to plan with us as opposed to others we have worked with that only does what they know how to do. They provided the itemized estimate/invoice, which is what we look for in contracted jobs. Check. And they were coherent in their emails, which is also a plus. It's nice to be able to physically walk into a location and talk to someone there. We are still on the contract stage but we liked what we see so far, even tho the price is a bit higher than other ones we've got. However, they seem to not have seen a contract before which is a bit surprising to us. We are waiting to see if their big boss agree with what we had down in paper, which protects both parties. I will update if we both decide to move forward with the job. Update: GFS responded to us saying they don't want to sign the contract. This kinda makes us raise an eye brow, because our generic AI drafted contract is super reasonable. Stuff like if there are any changes, it has to be communicated in writing. I don't get why. I think their refusal to agree in writing really makes us worry and doubt their reliability... we ain't about to drop $20k when there's no reassurance! When they finally did come, it was pouring rain and had been raining for days, I noticed some problems right away. Driveway has lumps/Ripples/ Divots, Asphalt is breaking away. Driveway is less than a year old and is already cracking & Splitting ( which is why we decided to replace the old driveway) The owner told me to wait it out and it would smooth out. I sent them a 2 page letter including pictures, clearly stating the issues. Shocking, as times gone on it's gotten worse. Owner told me he sees nothing wrong with the driveway. I asked him to at least adjust the final bill based on these issues. Nope! Said he wouldn't do it. Now put a Mechanics Lein so he can get paid the remainder of his money with an increase every month. You should've reflected on the points I had raised to better improve yourself. Yet you come across as an arrogant and stiff-necked individual. Now let's go over some of the things you stated in your review. 1) Rather than reprimanding the lady who was rude to me, you completely ignored all that. I have been in customer service all my life; if I ever acted in that tone with my customers or clients I would have been seriously reprimanded for my behavior. You completely ignored all that. 2) Let's talk about the gas prices you keep talking about how the gas prices have had an impact on your prices. If memory serves me right, the gas prices rose in the last 4 - 6 weeks. Before that things were normal, in fact, for the last 10 or so years gas prices have been fairly moderate and balanced. So just in the last 4 - 6 weeks, gas prices have risen, it has had such a HUGE impact on your business that you had to quadruple your prices? so what about the revenues generated by your business in the last 10/20 years!? There is nothing to show for? Or are you going to keep on crying about the gas prices that have hit us in the last 4 - to 6 weeks and that has had such a drastic effect on your business that you have skyrocketed your prices? That's is an extremely weak justification for your ruthless business practices. 3) Now let's come to the prices you charge your customers. You charged me $150 for each spring. Now one spring was completely fine. But you still recommended replacing it for "full" price. You could have stated that, hey, since we are replacing both the springs, and one of them is good, I'll charge you $100 for each. You didn't. Now if you are truly an honest individual why don't you show us how much you paid (whole-sale) for these springs? You pay wholesale right? See I have done my homework folks, the best quality springs out there are around $50 to $60 bucks at retail prices. This individual buys them at wholesale prices so he literally gets them for pennies on the dollar. Yet he charges his customers a healthy premium. (his excuse, gas prices) 4) Yes, you tightened up some nuts, bolts and did some minor adjustments. (Do you actually think you did any favors?) You charged me 150 for just showing up. And you stated it's for an hour's worth of work. You were done in 25 minutes so if you did tighten up some nuts and bolts, along the way you did not do me any favors. You charged me 200 percent for it. 5) And yes, you should have asked before taking the good spring. If the customer gives you permission, take it, fine, otherwise, you don't have the authority on your own to make that decision. Ethically, you should only take broken parts. Not the parts that are in good working order. 6) You go again in length about the price of gas. I have addressed this but still, let's do the math. Your business is in Libertyville, I'm in Vernon Hills. That is less than 10 miles. Say the cost of a gallon is $4.50. And your van does 10 miles to a gallon (this is extreme, I know it does better than that, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt) it merely takes you a gallon to get to my place. Let's say two gallons to be extreme, that is still less than 10 bucks. Even if your drive was longer, it doesn't come up to the numbers you are stating. 7) You talk about going to the grocery store and having to pay more, boohoo, that is called inflation. And a gallon of milk is still around $2.50, not $10 dollars. In the end, I'm just going to say to the larger community. Please do your research and choose carefully. My experience with Bashert Contractors was, overall, terrible. I had contacted Bashert based on a…read morerecommendation from the home inspector I used for my home purchase, as there were several projects my wife and I wanted to have done soon after moving in. The experience with Bashert started off well enough, we walked through the space and explained what we wanted done, and they said 'no problem' for all of it. But then the actual work started, and it all went downhill from there. The first noticeable issue was their electrician. For one, he had no experience terminating category cables, and was not able to follow the simple instructions even when watching a YouTube video of how to complete it. Beyond that, even with high-voltage, he worked on what seemed to be a process of elimination, connecting random wires and tripping circuits until he found the right combination that worked. The second issue was with one of the simplest tasks I had asked Bashert to complete - replacement of two support slats for a futon, as the slats had become damaged over many years of use and several disassembles and reassembles. The slats involved only providing a piece of wood of the same dimensions, and boring four holes at each end for the screws and anchors. Scott said 'no problem', and the proceeded to lead me on over the next two months, providing three attempts at replacement slats that looked nothing like what I had given him, and in the process also ruining one of my original slats. Finally Scott sent an email stating "sorry to mislead you, but we're not furniture builders". The final, and most important problem that we ran into was communication, both between Scott and his crews, and between Scott and myself. Though Scott was the manager/owner, was the person on the walk through when I described everything we wanted done, and was the only person I had a contact number for, he was very rarely on site, and left out significant details when informing his work crews of what needed to be done (e.g. we wanted an outdoor light installed with a switch to control it - the installer was only told about the light and just hardwired it in without a switch so it was always on). This created a number of delays and reworks. The even more significant problem was communication between Scott and myself. As soon as Scott had received our checks for the majority of the project costs, but while several significant items were still incomplete, he started ignoring my calls and emails. I had to resort to calling and leaving a voicemail every 45 minutes through most of a day for him to finally cave and call me back, and from then on he completely ignored my calls, and only sent me one-sentence cryptic emails every few days that contained no details of when we should expect the remaining tasks to be taken care of. In the end, there are still outstanding items that were never taken care of, and my wife and I have just cut our losses and found others to complete the work satisfactorily. I would never recommend this company for any work, no matter how limited, and would definitely suggest to anyone that does have to use them, to not give them more than 25% of the costs until after the work is fully completed.
