I did read the reviews prior to returning for a checkup and was really surprised to find the 1-Star reviews were right on the mark. The Pros , they saw me right away even though I arrived early, The cons , a hurry up quick look and a lot of liquid nitrogen sprayed all over my scalp and face. Told Mohs surgery was a must and told her assistant to set it up. Doc left the room. Went to the front counter to schedule an appointment (which had to be done elsewhere) where the discussion led to the fact that they could not do it through the other party. Both the woman at the front desk and the Doc's assistant stared at each other for a while before they said someone would have to call me. That's when I decided to see another dematology center where I was given an appointment 6 days later and they did everything in house. I'm sorry to say, the 1-star reviews were right. I had made an appt with dr schaeffer based on her reviews that spoke highly of her knowledge and expertise. When it came time for my appt, all went swimmingly. The check-in process was swift and painless and even waiting to be roomed was a quick turnaround. I was led back by a medical assistant (or nurse?), of the position I am unsure as no one was wearing a badge. Yes they introduced themselves, but I have no idea how to refer to them. She asked me the questions and handed me a gown to change into, straightforward and fine. Now, as a healthcare worker myself, I knew what a full body skin check all entailed but when it came time to meet Dr Schaeffer I was a little taken aback. She introduced herself rapidly and just got right to it. It was while she was still introducing herself that she started touching me right away for her exam. No warning, no eye contact, just hands deep in my hair while still just meeting me for the first time. I shared my concerns all the while she moved to different parts of my body for her check but not really explaining the areas she was checking. Now in my experience, when it comes to a vulnerable exam, there is a little bit more tenderness and patience that is required to make the patient not feel violated or rushed. This was anything but that. Now, while I commend her in her speed, it was palpable that she wasn't really there for her patient. There was no small talk or genuine concern for the backstories of the patient (and honestly it was kind of distracting that she was hands on assessing me while having me explain the history). I will also commend her technique as I did have a skin sample taken at that appointment and did not feel a thing, not even the burning of the lidocaine injection. After she was done collecting her sample, I got a "keep it covered with vaseline, results in 2 weeks. Okay, you are good to go" and before I could even think about follow-up questions, she and her assistant were out the door. I was left sitting on the exam table and they hadn't even closed the door all the way (and mind you I was still in a gown and needed to change). By the time I had changed and thought of questions, like how long do I keep it covered? Can I shower? Pools? There was no one to be found. So like a lost puppy I found my way to the waiting room lobby and left the office. Needless to say, the experience was a unique one and if a "wam bam thank you maam" is your kind of style then she is a great fit. I am not saying that I want someone to pour my life onto for 45 minutes but a little common courtesy and bedside manner goes a long way, especially when assessing the more private areas of a person. read more

Unsafe! Ignore any positive reviews. It's not worth a fast appointment to trade unsafe care. Easy to get seen but no follow up or way to contact a HCP in case of problems. I'll be reporting them for the lack of REMS protocol adherence. If you need fast, cosmetic care & no actual derm/medical care -go here. Fast & easy. Think of it like ULTA for RX skin care. Anything else -RUN! Your safety isn't worth the quick appointment. read more

Zero stars. Worst medical provider experience I've ever had. This is the first time in my life I've ever felt compelled to leave a negative review-I can be extremely forgiving and understanding. But the level of egregiousness reflected in the policies of this business is consistently baffling to me, and I feel I should chime in with how stressful this place is to deal with so maybe someone new can save themselves the grief. The first available appointment with a competent practice wasn't until January, so until I can transfer there I'll be putting up with managing my condition at Forefront. The patient rooms are never really clean. Every time I'm there, there's open syringes, used ointments and bandages, etc. sitting on the counter. If you need to contact a nurse at the location that works with your doctor to discuss anything about your care or ask questions, forget it. When you call, you're routed to a central call "center" (wfh employees scattered all over the world). IF you manage to get an employee who knows how to transfer you "to the location", you MIGHT be able to leave a voicemail (if it doesn't just disconnect the call), but they'll never call you back. Worst of all, they screw up communications with insurance providers and make it near impossible to communicate with anyone about it. No one knows how to take responsibility for what communications need to happen in order for a prior authorization to be submitted, and my doctor's only advice for getting ahold of anyone was literally to "show up here". That's ridiculous that I have to take time and gas and drive to ask someone a simple question in 2025! But then I leave work early and do show up and no one has any answers!!! Currently dealing with being blocked from filling my medication because my insurance "needs more information" to verify the prior authorization (it's not even a first time prior auth. Just a renewal!) and no one at Forefront can figure out what information to give them or how. Can't wait for January and I can be done with this place. read more

Do NOT expect your SCHEDULED time to be respected by Tracy the receptionist. Do NOT ask her if you are really checked in as you observe later appointments for same Dr getting called back before you. Her brilliant response was, "It's just the way the papers fall." Very callous & degrading. Do NOT ask the nurse-like lady what she's talking about when you don't understand her, this will make her angry and slam doors. And, if you have a mental illness like me (Panic Disorder), the slamming of doors (twice) can trigger a panic attack. I began shaking and crying and feeling VERY UNSAFE. I had to request that she NOT return to my room. Do NOT call the phone numbers they provide when you have an extremely negative experience as Forefront has fired all Americans and outsourced their call center to another country where they do NOT speak English or understand it. At some point Yelp needs to let us give 0 stars because this clinic deserves 0 stars. I didn't like the Dermatologist I saw. I don't feel like my concerns were taken seriously. My appointment seemed very rushed. The Dermatologist seemed like they'd rather be somewhere else instead of helping me. The Dermatologist seemed very annoyed. The room they had me in was not clean. The sink, where they wash their hands, was filthy. That was shocking considering it's a medical facility. I will NEVER return. But on a positive note: The Medical Assistant was fabulous. UPDATE: It is 3 days later and they never called in the prescriptions to the pharmacy. The incompetence at this clinic is worse than I thought. read more

The Wauwatosa office has been very difficult to work with. They misapplied our insurance in January 2024. They created a new account, merged my sons account with my husbands and in that process never correctly billed our insurance. I patiently waited for their "IS" department to correct our accounts, checking back monthly, but was never notified and then without ever reaching out to me sent our bills to a collection agency. it has been a mess. In addition, my son's appointments were at 7am and the receptionist was never ready. She often blamed the computers but had she gotten there on time she could have resolved those problems before our appointments. I've left numerous messages for office managers, I tried to reach out to a different location just for support and I never received any call backs. I asked to speak to the Dr but was told that wasn't possible. I have no issues with the Dr care we received but the office, finance and support staff was horrible. It is a shame that the providers do not see this as it represents them as a whole. I would definitely not go to this location. read more

I have been going there for about year, and for the most part I have been pleased. The Doctor I saw I was pleased with. The problem I had with them is getting a respond when I left a message. I had a procedure done on my back. I called on Friday and left a message telling them it was not healing. I called and left a message again on Monday and again on Tuesday. when they finally called me back they said I couldn't get in for appointment on September 16th. That was almost 3 weeks, that I would have to wait to get a resolve for an open sore that they inflicted on me. Then they called me on Thursday (4 days ) after I called them to renew a prescription. read more

This is the worst run business. I've never felt the need to leave a review but I genuinely don't get how they run their practice. Had a referral for a doctor at this location (which is an hour away from where I live). Went in and was completely dismissed within 10 minutes. The products I was recommended were from their private pharmacy so I had to purchase there. When I tried to call to see if I could pick up a refill at a closer forefront location they said they couldn't because my doctor was the one writing it. Again not sure how that matters when it's within the parent company and my doctor would still be the one signing off on it. But they wouldn't, so I drove over an hour on a Friday to get the prescription and when I got there their office was so closed with no note. So they just make up their own hours and aren't liable to anyone. Additionally they have no voicemail services. I tried getting transferred to the nurse line 3 times and no one answered and you could not leave a message. Would never recommend this doctor or practice. read more

The Doctor was good. The post appointment follow up was terrible. I was prescribed a medication that required my insurance approval. I contacted the office multiple times to check on the status of the prescription and they NEVER returned my calls. It's bad enough you can never get in touch with a human by phone, but the fact they NEVER returned any of my calls is completely unacceptable. Go to a different dermatologist that values your patronage. read more

They are terrible at getting beck to you regarding concerns. They state they are open at 7:30 and I've tried calling several times and it says the office is closed. I'm very disappointed as I have been a patient with the facility for quite some time now and I now believe I have to change providers. read more

Specifically made appointment with a new doc to burn or cut a wart off. Was amazing specific that the 5 other appointments for their recommended treatments of frog venom and liquid nitrogen didn't work and the receptions assured me they had other options including cutting out or burning out so I agreed stating as long as its not what hasn't worked for over $1,000 in charges, for a small wart!. Went in and they had a PA insisting she could use the nitrogen to get rid of it. Shameful, we walked out and they had the gall to charge us the same amount its we saw an actual Doctor, not an assistant. Very snotty and condescending when I complained about the bill for no service. Although my charge was only $10 I called my insurance company to tell them they were being gamed. read more

I have been to see a doctor there several times. 3 or 4 of those times was for a rash on my foot. 3 years later, the rash is still there. The doctor, even after negative results from testing for fungus 2 or 3 times, gave me creams for fungus. I was willing to give them another chance (that doctor retired). So I went to their website and twice tried to schedule online, only to receive a phone messsage asking me to call if I still want an appointment. I have some crazy work hours and that is why I tried to schedule online. Whoa...if you are going to offer online "scheduling" as an option, make it truly online. Or at least email. read more

This is just one big money scam. I went in to have a few red spots on my face evaluated for cancer. They assured me that I had precancerous melanoma and it needed to be treated aggressively, along with a larger area on my arm and behind my knee. I was given the choice of burning the areas with liquid nitrogen or undergoing a Blue Light treatment. The Blue light seemed less invasive, so I chose for that option. I was scheduled for the first available appointment. Fast forward to the Friday night before my Monday treatment...I received a phone call notifying me that they no were no longer a provider under my insurance and I could be self pay. Why did they wait until the day before my procedure to tell me? Did they think I was desperate enough to just write a check? I had a second opinion with a real dermatologist. They told me that my condition was very mild and could be treated with a cream and a vitamin supplement. They also told me that most private insurance does not cover Blue Light and the two larger "cancer" spots were actually just moles!! On top of it, they "sold" me a $175 special vitamin C syrem that only they sell (could have purchased same concentration somewhere else for a lot less). Boy was I sold. Run away from these scam artists!!!!! read more

If I could give negative starts, I would. I went in for a cosmetic mole removal and I've never felt more humiliated and shamed. I literally left in tears. The doctor stayed in the room for less than 5 minutes (3 of which she just stared into nothing) and was basically telling me nothing was wrong. She made me feel like I was wasting her time and was trying to talk me out of it, telling me she didnt have time to do it that day (we were 15 minutes into my hour appointment - and the procedure was going to take 20 minutes). The mole is on my face, I understand its cosmetic, but how about let me decide how I'd like to deal with it? I immediately went to a new doctor (NOT FOREFRONT) and told them about my experience, multiple clients of theirs had similar problems with Forefront and apologized FOR them. On top of it all - I'm being charged $150 for the appointment, after insurance, for this woman to spend 5 minutes with me and tell me I'm wasting her time. Avoid this place at all cost. read more

i had what i thought was a cancerous moles (melonoma) on my toes. i was scared to death. so the doc opened the waiting room door and was barely in the room say 8' away and said "no problem it's not cancerous" but you do have foot fungus. i said to him forget that we are talking cancer won't you take a closer look at these moles to be sure.? he seemed reluctant but did look closely with a magnifying glass and said no cancer due to "cell configuration" or something. ///// 1 he did not have the human touch generally especially per my fears of cancer 2 he was very cold all he wanted was to get the exam done as fast as he could. one minute would have been all he took if i had not pressed him. all he was was money money./////now their scheduling staff was great. the clinic was 8 miles from me and all i had was a bike. scheduled appointment 5 days ahead. at the time did not know we'd have a record low for the date & 0 wind chill. the schedulers changed times for me or offered to about 3-4 times as my situation changed due to the cold. /////forefront clinics seems to try for volume and money rather than taking pride in the medical care they provide. much of their business is cosmetic surgery i understand. maybe your best bet for serious problems like i had is an outpatient hospital operation rather than clinics. the reason i used clinics here is they had a short waiting time. i'll tell you one thing i would not want this doctor to stage my care if i'd had cancer. he acted more like a businessman than a doctor. read more
