This is the Mini Combo- perfectly satisfying!
Christine B.

It pains me to be changing my review but after multiple visits I have no choice. Unfortunately the quality here is now lacking. They are always extremely stingy with the Cheese Wiz, which is the best part of the sandwich. The bun always seems to be right on the cusp of turning stale. And the fries have that taste of being cooked in old oil that needs to be changed out. I wish I could say differently but this has been the case every time I visit now. We still have an excellent experience at the Tempe location so it just seems to happen here. It's unfortunate since this location is closer to us and we really do love Forefather's.

Cheesesteak and Onion Rings

Stopped by on an impulse today for lunch, and I'm glad that I did. Food was great. Location was simple, yet nice, and very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The sandwiches are completely customized how you want them made up. You pick your protein of steak or chicken, choose what type of cheese, and choose what you want mixed in. I chose onion rings as a side, and they were marvelous, exactly the type of onion rings I hope for When I'm at a restaurant. Because food seems to just be getting more and more expensive these days, I went with a large sandwich, because it was only a few dollars more, and I could save the second half for lunch tomorrow. Makes it a little bit easier to justify a kind of pricey lunch, if I can turn it into two lunches instead of just one. This place is not overpriced, that's just my complaint about how expensive things have gotten in general.

I can't speak on the cheesesteak sandwiches but from what my kids said, it's pretty good. The fries were crispy and tasty when dipped in the cheese sauce. I had the tomato basil bisque and side salad. It's basic, but was filling for me. My husband saw on Yelp that there was grilled cheese sandwiches, be aware that it is no longer on the menu.

Large Steak salad, regular cheesesteak, fries and onion rings

Tasty food! It was our first time trying Forefathers and we will definitely be back. The steak salad was a perfect mix of steak, cheese and salad. My husband had the steak sandwich. He's boring, steak, cheese and bun only but, In his words, it's all about the bun.

Now hiring! 2/16/21

Last night we decided we'd try a new Philly Cheesesteak place than our usual spot in Mesa. The reviews were pretty good so I thought "Why not?" Bf inadvertently drove us to the Scottsdale location which seems further than the Tempe one. It was quite the trek for us (~20 minutes LOL). The lobby was empty. We scanned the menu and placed our orders: one regular grilled steak ($11) cheesesteak with cheese wiz, grilled onions, grilled green peppers, jalapeños, and grilled mushrooms, a regular fry ($3.50), a large grilled chicken sandwich ($14) with provolone, grilled onions, and mushrooms, and sweet potato fries ($4). You get a free drink when you order a sandwich and fry. The difference between the regular and large is about 6 inches according to the worker (regular, 6 inches, large, 12 inches). The order came out quick enough and we headed back home before digging into our sandwiches. Yes, the cheesesteak is good; as bf says however, it is hard to mess up a cheesesteak. My grip would be the size (6 inches) to cost ($11). Rather on the expensive side and the sandwich wasn't brimming full either. It left me desiring another half, easily. The chicken was bland. I'd definitely skip the chicken. The fry was good, the taste was reminiscent of onion/onion powder somehow? I like the Fry sauce. Brother compared it to Cane's sauce but I don't think it's quite on par. The sweet potato fries were good as well. Again, both were rather expensive for the size. Overall Forefathers is good but won't be replacing my Philly cheesesteak place.

Decent food but I hope the expensive price will go toward funding new decor for the ugly interior.

Go to DeFalco's and forget all this nonsense. Nowhere close to authentic. Philly Steaks or Philly's Famous are good also.

I ended up at Corleone's Cheesesteaks in Phoenix, AZ purely out of necessity and mild desperation…read more I was staying in the most random part of town, and for reasons I still don't understand, my hotel did not have a real restaurant. Well... it technically did, but it was a BBQ spot and I just wasn't in the mood. So, naturally, I turned to Yelp like the modern traveler I am. After scrolling through nearby options, nothing really spoke to me... except cheesesteaks. And once that idea entered my brain, there was no turning back. I immediately thought, "Heck yeah, I'm in." Keys were grabbed. Car was started. Mission accepted. When I arrived, I noticed it was a smaller shop, but that's usually a good sign. I walked in and was immediately distracted by the pizzas displayed in the window and the massive pizza oven in the back, very promising. Then I checked out the menu and locked in my order: a regular cheesesteak with Whiz, onions, and green peppers, plus a side of fries. Simple. Classic. Correct. The fries came out first, and let me tell you, hot, crispy, and exactly what fries should be. No soggy nonsense here. Then came the cheesesteak. I asked the manager for some pepperoncini's, and instead of just handing me a few, he pointed me to this full-on condiment bar. I'm talking pepperoncini's, pickles, and a whole lineup of extras. A choose-your-own-adventure, but for sandwiches. Loved it. The cheesesteak itself was really good, flavorful, satisfying, and hit the spot perfectly. Paired with those fries, it was exactly what I needed after a long day of travel and questionable hotel choices. I will say the service was not that great and not very friendly. I felt like I was imposing on them when I walked in to the time I left. Perhaps they were all having a "moment" that day. Bottom line: great cheesesteaks, excellent fries, and zero regrets. If you find yourself in the area and craving something hearty and comforting, Corleone's will not disappoint.
