We kept the doctor updated regarding the medication's success. But after my the prescription ran out and five phone calls requesting a refill and explaining that we' had had a terrible financial year and a huge deductible, Ewing refused to call in more medication. She insisted that we scheduled another appointment and we had to wait 3 months because she is booked up. My daughter's acne returned with a vengeance while we waited to see the doctor. Then I had to pay $200 to sit in her office so she could hand me the RX I had requested months earlier. This is why health care reform is so critical. Dr Ewing gets the cash and we get screwed.

I expected the doctor to call me back at the end of the day or perhaps the next day, as doctors usually do with an abnormal test. Instead, the receptionist snapped "WHAT questions??" and then stated that I would need to make another appointment and pay again in order to get to speak with the doctor at all. I was stunned to have someone in healthcare snap at me unprovoked. The verbal cruelty was disturbing and left me feeling vulnerable on top of worrying about my health and prognosis. When I finally heard from the doctor (via email) she was presumptuous, wrote condescending notes about how non-dirty and non-loose I am, and told me that patients only "hear" what they want to hear, which is why she doesn't talk to patients over the phone. (!) At this point I hadn't even yet told her what my actual concerns were. I had questions based on my medical history of autoimmune disease, as well as questions about how this might affect my partner and what precautions I should take. I also didn't fully understand how the infection gets transmitted as I tested negative in the past with the same partner. I was bizarrely mistreated and condescended to. I've never had this level of disrespect happen at a doctor's office before. The doctor finally did call and immediately started talking about social stigma (again, not a concern to me at all... Should it have been??), made more assumptions, didn't listen, interrupted, and answered questions I didn't ask. The doctor billed the 15 min conversation as a virtual office visit. She waived the copay since I sounded upset, which was nice... The conversation should have lasted about 3 minutes if she simply answered my questions. Of all specialists, why would a gynecologist coddle their patients and treat them as though they are immature and irrational?

Took me multiple requests, over a period of more than 3 years to get my medical records transferred to my new doctor, which were finally transferred as of this year, 2025. Good Lord. Sep 9, 2022Previous review After being a patient in this practice, long before it became MCWHC, like two decades long, my previous doctors retired, one after the other. Since the changes in doctors in this office, that for me began this year, it was a nightmare to get an appointment, no one seemed to know who was where and when. Had a procedure scheduled for March and received a call 3 days prior regarding the meds and was told that the procedure needed to be pre-paid, even though I have very good insurance. Was 'allowed' to make arrangements since I hadn't been notified and providing that I pay a portion up front. Subsequent billing to my insurance company was submitted with my name reading two different ways and insurance company processed the claims as two different people with two different deductibles. While in direct contact with the billing department, it took me 4 months to get it straight with the insurance company. All along, I continued to make monthly payments since I didn't originally know where the fault lay. Once I discovered it was the bill submissions that caused the errors and delay in payment, the claims were corrected by the insurance company. The very same day that I receive the corrected statement from insurance, I received a voice mail that I was being sent to collection. I returned the call and told them to do whatever they felt was necessary. Not one time did I receive an apology for the months of agony dealing with the insurance company that had to go through every single claim from every single provider this year to resolve the issue. The billing department of MCWHC further claimed that I had not made a payment since March when, in fact, I had paid over $800 while all of this was happening. After receiving nonsense responses from billing, telling me where to look on their website but in no way providing confirmation of my payments, I finally began sending emails directly to Dr. Clear to no avail. My emails have gone completely ignored. Last communication I had with her was that she was going to reach out to my oncology gyne for a consult and get back to me, that's right, oncology. Never heard another word. Maybe I am dying, I guess I won't know from Dr. Clear. The last email I sent to Dr. Clear, I made it clear that no response is a response. After reading all of the complaints here on Yelp, I could not agree more with the rudeness of the billing office and the office staff. They could care less about your health, they are all in for the money. I told Dr. Clear that it is unfortunate that she and others came into a practice that was built long and hard by others that they are destroying day by day. Very sad. Even better, both of them answer my lists of questions that I bring to each visit. They even answer immediate questions via email through the ENH network and return phone calls right away, too. Throughout my first trimester of our first child, I've always felt like my hand was held every time I had a question or gave me thorough explanations for everything. I even got an extra ultrasound done when I was concerned about the baby. Now, during my second trimester, I've been told how lucky that Dr. Shisler let me videotape the baby's heartbeat and how she listens to the baby's heartbeat for a full minute instead of a couple seconds. She has wonderful bedside manner and has made this whole pregnancy a wonderful experience so far. She even has an ultrasound technician come to her office at least once a week so you can schedule those important appointments right there in their office. I saw Dr. Purdy a few years ago when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during my first pregnancy. I am sure she knew what she was doing from a medication management and treatment point of view because everything went well, apart from the pain and inconvenience related to the condition that is. But her bedside manner left a lot to be desired. I found her too abrupt and not empathetic at all. She phrased things very harshly, and at times I felt that she was trying to scare me into complying with the treatment. I feel that my experience with the diabetes could have been so much better with a physician who understood the emotional underpinnings that often accompany any medical illness. That was a difficult time for me, and Dr. Purdy did not help the situation at all.
