I received a positive test for a sexually transmitted infection in my online chart along with…read moreminimal notes, so I called the office and asked to briefly speak with Dr. Johnson as I had a few questions about my results... I expected the doctor to call me back at the end of the day or perhaps the next day, as doctors usually do with an abnormal test. Instead, the receptionist snapped "WHAT questions??" and then stated that I would need to make another appointment and pay again in order to get to speak with the doctor at all. I was stunned to have someone in healthcare snap at me unprovoked. The verbal cruelty was disturbing and left me feeling vulnerable on top of worrying about my health and prognosis. When I finally heard from the doctor (via email) she was presumptuous, wrote condescending notes about how non-dirty and non-loose I am, and told me that patients only "hear" what they want to hear, which is why she doesn't talk to patients over the phone. (!) At this point I hadn't even yet told her what my actual concerns were. I had questions based on my medical history of autoimmune disease, as well as questions about how this might affect my partner and what precautions I should take. I also didn't fully understand how the infection gets transmitted as I tested negative in the past with the same partner. I was bizarrely mistreated and condescended to. I've never had this level of disrespect happen at a doctor's office before. The doctor finally did call and immediately started talking about social stigma (again, not a concern to me at all... Should it have been??), made more assumptions, didn't listen, interrupted, and answered questions I didn't ask. The doctor billed the 15 min conversation as a virtual office visit. She waived the copay since I sounded upset, which was nice... The conversation should have lasted about 3 minutes if she simply answered my questions. Of all specialists, why would a gynecologist coddle their patients and treat them as though they are immature and irrational?

I have a ton of family and family friends in medicine so there's always a plethora of knowledge around me; and different opinions. I went on my insurance website and took down bios for about 20 doctors. From there, I vetted them by specialty, location and reviews.I wanted someone personable, who I could relate to, and most importantly- someone smart who knew what they were talking about. I found everything and more in Dr. Daniel. Dr. Daniel is not only smart but she's fantastic at explaining the chemical processes going on in your body. She teaches for Swedish Covenant so she's well versed in all the common questions (that her residents have). She also believes firmly in the osteopathic approach to medicine. That pretty much means she believes in the "whole body" approach instead of just focusing on the body as separate organs. She has an open mind and believes with going with what works. Finally she is personable and encouraging. We talked about random stuff and she made me feel so comfortable. Making an appointment was simple and the office did not feel like a typical medical office. It's located at a former office/administrative building so there is a ton of marble and wall sconces. The staff is really nice as well. Dr. Daniel definitely has your back- and everything else as well.

I started with Dr. Dhali as my Endocrinologist last year when I moved to Chicago…read more True- her bedside manner is not great, but she is very on point and even though I have had hypothyroidism for years, she explained my thyroid issues to me in a clear, understandable, and detailed manner. She is thorough and checks my levels every few months. She called me personally (multiple times to avoid just leaving a message) to explain the change in my thyroid levels and why she wanted me to change my medication dosage. I have seen many doctors in the last 5 years, and I hardly ever get calls from the doctor themselves! Her nurse and office staff are great- they remember my name/medical history when I call in and are as accommodating as they can be. I plan on switching to her as my PCP as well.

I wound up admitted through the ER after having a hypertensive crisis and wasn't even there for anything having to do with endocrinology. However, because I was on thyroid medication, as well as hydrocortisone after having surgery to remove a pituitary tumor, the medical team in charge of my care consulted with Dr. Dhali. She completely changed crucial medication, was condescending, and downright incompetent. She also placed notes in my file saying she suspected I was lying about my medical history. Absolutely outrageous. Once I got out of there I went to see my endocrinologist at Northwestern ASAP who had been managing my care successfully for 4 years and immediately corrected Dr. Dhali's dangerous medication changes. My endocrinologist was absolutely appalled that Dr. Dhali made such drastic changes without knowing or receiving my medical history from Northwestern. This woman is a kook and your health is in danger in her "care." The ONLY reason I ended up at Swedish Covenant ER was because I had a hypertensive crisis and it was the nearest hospital so the ambulance took me there. The goal was to get my blood pressure under control so that I wouldn't have a damn stroke. The cardiologist was great and he did get my blood pressure under control and ran appropriate test. There was no need for Dr. Dhali to bombard in and start messing with my crucial hormone medication (thyroid and hydrocortisone). By the way they don't even carry hydrocortisone. What kind of hospital doesn't carry hydrocortisone? Please, please for your own sake. If you have any endocrine conditions, go elsewhere. I believe Dr. Dhali is a danger to the public!!!!

He has a fantastic sense of humor, never rushes his patients, listens carefully, and does not have a big ego like some other physicians I've worked with. He really allows his patients to be partners, and shows respect for research they've done, also understanding they may know their own bodies well. Our impression is that he errs on the side of caution, and will order tests to rule out conditions, even if he thinks issues are unlikely. We love Dr. Ebihara, and have recommended him to many people. Our son is now old enough to see him, too, and we are glad.
