I have hated almost every interaction I've had with the Fora team. I rarely write reviews. I have waited 3 months since the birth of my son to post this to see if I would feel differently.
I'm not sure if poor bedside manner, no organization, no attention to details and being downright rude are qualifications for working here, but that's what it seems like on the receiving end. For context, I'm not a super sensitive person. I am a forward communicator and even I thought Dr. Skillern had really awful bedside manner but the IVF clinic i started with was acquired, and then that one merged and by the time I wound up at what is now called Aspire, I just wanted to get started and not start back at square 1, so I decided to proceed with Dr. Skillern and Rikki (her assistant) and that's where we had our first issue at Aspire.
Rikki didn't call in meds in time and I was left rushing around getting meds last minute which could have really messed up my trigger shot. Luckily everything ended up ok and when I brought up the lack of organization to Dr. Skillern she gave some lame excuse when really all I wanted to hear was "I'm sorry this won't happen again". We did a total of 5 retrievals and there was constant issues with administrative stuff.
There was the time that Rikki didn't show up for one of the online meetings. Then it's not telling you everything that needs to be done before a retrieval or implantation can be scheduled. So we'd do the mammogram, only to then be told you have to watch this online class. We'd watch the online class only to be then told we had to do a blood lab for STDS. We'd do the lab only to be told another thing that needs to be done. Zero organization and this led to a lot of frustration trying to just plan your life around these cycle (I did 5 retrievals so this is a lot).
Issues with meds, systems not working, not being able to login, etc and when I would bring this up I was treated like I was the problem.
I then hear the Dr. Skillern is starting Fora, my husband and I had a call with her where she insinuated that a lot of those issues we had were b/c of Aspire, and not specifically because she and Rikki are the worst. I've since come to find out they in fact are the worst.
Then I was brought in for a procedure where they mapped my uterus with saline. I was never told "hey this may be painful". The procedure was incredibly painful, I ended up calling my husband from the car and sobbing because I was so traumatized.
The next procedure that I went in for was during Covid. Granted they sent a text message saying that masks were going to be enforced (which I totally understand) but I was so nervous from the previous procedure that I forgot my entire purse at home that had my mask. When I walked in, everyone was wearing masks, I explained I forgot my purse at home and the woman was super rude and told me that I'd have to leave and drive to a gas station and purchase a mask there. This was a moment where she could have been kind and given me one of the many masks they had in the office but instead she was super rude when I was already on edge and nervous during a pandemic trying to have a baby. Where was her humanity?
Once I had to see Dr. Crawford. Rude, dismissive and super put out to have to answer ?'s. Her persona online is super nice but in person she's like the pretty girl in high school that's mean to everyone. Yeah, you know the type.
I put up with all of this nonsense because we wanted a baby, had already invested so much, and didn't want to start over, but our recent experience was the straw that broke the camels back.
Our insurance, that covered 100%, was about to change. We long ago decided we weren't going to do any further retrievals/implantations with Fora but thought we'd take advantage of fertilizing a batch of eggs. Almost 2 months in advance I reached being very clear about the timeline.
They couldn't have moved more slowly. I'm told to watch 1 class online, then sign a consent form. Which I had already done previously but their new system didn't have record of it. Time goes by still no news, I follow up with Rikki and am told that I have other classes to watch. Watch them, no news, follow up, am told I need to take a STD test, which we didn't b/c we were using frozen sperm that's already been tested, that takes days to sort out. Finally get everything done and I'm then told that the fertilization won't be done by the time my insurance runs out, but they'd love to charge us $10k to do it anyway. Seriously?
Fora has an awful reputation. My OB has a negative opinion. My acupuncturist, same. I'm at a party and 3 women are talking about their awful IVF experience, sure enough it's Dr. Skillern. Also I would ask if any of their MDs have caused life threatening injury during an implantation.
They've barely been open two years and they have the same number of 1 star reviews as Texas Fertility that's been open for decades. read more
