The foothills rising along the far side of the creek were beautiful, and there were many young families enjoying the beautiful weather and kids splashing in the creek. We saw several people fly fishing, people picnicking at several tables, and a bunch of happy dogs. Map signs of the park indicated that there are more difficult hiking trails available. After our visit we had a terrific lunch at the lovely Blackbird Cafe in Kittredge, about a mile to the west.

This park claims that it is accessible. Reality is...I'm not an able bodied person. I use a walker/rollator to help me get around. Without it, I might as well be in a wheelchair. With it I can navigate the local stores and activities. This park has some accessible parking spots. One in each lot. There is a break in the fence wide enough for a wheelchair to make it through. But in reality no wheelchair will be able to access the pit toilets available for use here. You have to enter through a half door that can swing back and forth and then make a sharp turn to access the toilet. No regular wheelchair could make that turn. You'd have to have one of those electric scooters that can turn on a dime. But to even get to the bathrooms you have to make it out of the loose dirt and rocky parking lot. Then maneuver the uneven dirt/grass ground to the bathrooms. My rollator walker didn't stand a chance to even make it to the bathrooms let alone anywhere else in the park I couldn't access with our car. My husband looked up this place after our daughter came here on a school outing and loved it. He saw that it is listed as accessible, but the truth is, it is not. I wanted to make sure anyone who is disabled or injured could read my review and make a decision based on it. I gave the park a rating of two because my husband and daughter still enjoyed themselves. My husband isn't super able bodied (he uses a cane), so by using his walking/hiking poles he could get around nicely.

The equipment was a little wore out, but still fun. There were 4 slides (a double slide, a wavy slide and 1 twisty slide), swings, a seesaw and a lot of climbing elements. My son enjoyed his time here but the park was a little small for him as a 5 year old. They do have restrooms right nearby which is great (although we didn't use them so I can't comment on how they are). The sidewalks were very wide here too which is great for if a kid wants to ride their bike or something without disturbing walkers. My friends actually were riding skateboards up and down the street while we were here and never got in the way of others. All in all, it was a nice little park for a quick visit.

The park itself is surrounded by beautiful trails and open space with views of Red Rocks! There is one smaller playground structure offering a few different sized slides for all ages. 2 baby swings and 2 big kid swings, and some teeter totter equipment as well. There is also a basketball court and wonderfully kept softball field here. The parking lot is a good size and I see there are bathrooms but they seem to be locked quite often. There are a couple porta-potties next to those as back up.

Every morning I go to meditate at this park, I see dogs being walked at 6AM with little flashlights and watch couples walk every night, if I happen to be out with my Aspen Pretty Eyes. The beauty of this park are the Tennis courts, walkability, TREES many Beautiful Trees, 2 ball parks, rentable grills and tables for large parties. Many come once annually for a gathering, it is traditional. People are friendly, so are the squirrels, give them peanuts early in the morning, they are so cute. Please be sure to clean up after your dog/s and say hello to those you see often and smile. There are picnic tables everywhere, a pool during the summer, with exercise course, the bathrooms are not to great, visit your own at home. Enjoy nature in its beauty here, there are many parks around, this is one special place.

There are a few shaded benches under mature trees which are comfortable. There's also a small shelter with a picnic table and trash can. The area was picked up and looked clean. There wasn't trash laying about or graffiti on anything. One of the nice things about the playground is it's of the old fashioned wood and metal construction. No crummy plastic here (except for the space ship rocker thing, which is nicely located in the shade). There's the bouncy bridge that is fun and hard to walk across, especially with people who like to jump on it. There are three slides of various heights, although you have to be careful to not get burned, because those suckers can get hot! The only thing I don't like about the structure is that there are 3 fireman poles, so it's heart attack inducing when your little kid veers over to check them out, not noticing there's a 10 foot drop to the ground. There's actual gravel around the structure, instead of sand or wood chips. The only thing this playground area doesn't have are swings, but that's okay.

You may not even know if the newly built West Woods Community/Police Station just to the south of the park. I barely noticed the park when biking past its entrance. I only went seeking it out when I heard kids on the playground. They've got an extensive walking path around the outside of the park, with interspersed rock, paths in the center connecting the covered picnic areas and the playground. The playground includes two 'rock' boulders with a rope between the two, a couple swing sets, and a dinky slide. Adjacent to the playground, though, is a decently sized grass field. There's also a horseshoe pit on the northside of the grass field with a covered area for seating. It's a hidden gem, with plenty to offer.

Great park in a random neighborhood. We actually spent about 2 hours here with the kiddos running all over. They speed to and from the park - typically 3-5 students per car - and smoke pot, usually leaving trash behind on the ground despite the close proximity of multiple trash cans. There is also some sort of "fight club" situation where 20 to 30 teenagers are circled around two other kids who are fighting. These entitled little brats show absolutely ZERO respect for park goers or mothers with their children at the playground. During school season this is pretty much an every day thing. There are usually homeless people living in their cars on the street next to the playground. I'm looking out my window at one as I write this.
