Buses are often late and sometimes skip runs all together, leaving customers waiting for hours. Their drivers don't always understand how paying fares and putting transfers on fare cards is supposed to work, and they often do it wrong, leaving the customer with no transfer when they get on their next bus. They do run a lot of routes and are useful for getting around the area, but leave lots of extra time to get to your destination. read more

This is a review on the customer service helpline as well as the directions; they were so lackluster it wasn't even funny. When they received my call I listened to a 5 minute conversation about people going to a party only to be waiting on the line for nothing. Don't trust googlemaps If you're heading from mt sac to brea mall take the 190 to the 482 to the 286 you'll thank me later. Foothill transit is looking pretty shoddy compared to mta and octa its a shame especially on the customer service end. The bus drivers though are nice and courteous its a real shame. read more

The only reason I'm giving Foothill Transit 1 star because I can't give them 0. Tonight one bus drove right past me, so I caught another and then saw two other buses broken down on the side of the road. And this isn't an isolated incident. I can't understand why they can't seem to keep their fleet running. Over the years I've been on 2 buses that have broken down on other services. I've lost count with Foothill Transit over the past few months. So, the jist is this: Very nice, clean buses - that are frequently late or broken down. Compared to other services Foothill Transit is like toddlers dressed up as adults. It's all and elaborate fantasy of being a proper transit system that people indulge them in. read more

Bus is always late and the buses are always dirty. I have been riding for about a month since my car broke down. Then today I got on the bus and realized I didn't have exact change. I put in $1.20 and then the bus driver said "I'm sorry sir but the fair is $1.50 or you'll have to get off." She was going to kick me off for .30 cents when I pay a ton to ride every day. So, I put in another $1.00 so it was $2.20. The thing is, it costs more to take the bus than it is to just pay for gas. I pay $1.50 to get on and $1.50 to transfer and then $1.75 for the final transfer. And have to do this twice a day. read more

Many of their buses are new and clean with cushioned seats. This is one of the few public transits in the area that uses electric buses.

I don't care what anyone says, I have been using public transport for over 10 yrs now and this HAS TO BE THE WORST company for such a thing. With the exception of the silver streak and a few other long distance rides. Nothing runs on time, they can just toss those schedules in the flames cause they are a waste. Don't get me started on the dreadful 272! Looooooong eye roll. Constantly, no-showing, late, passing passengers etc. Runs once on the hour and has the NERVE TO NOT be perfect?!!! Thank you so much for raising your fares, it's nice to know I'll be paying more for horrible service. Yesterday the bus was literally jumping up and down as if we were on a trampoline, no one with a bad back would have been able to take it. A pregnant woman would not have been able to ride it, that's how bad it was. It actually hurt my back for a few hours after I got off. How that bus is still in service I don't understand, thank God there wasn't a disabled or elderly person on the bus, I am not exaggerating. I've ridden the bus around 3,000 times in my life and this was the worse in terms of a rough ride. It was literally like being on a roller coaster. But keep charging us more. read more

Foothill Transit-WORST bus co.!!! Today, March 19, the 493 going west was 20 minutes late at the Puente Hills Mall. There was one supposed to arrive at 5:52. Then, 2 consecutive ones arrive at 6:05. i took they 188 bus in azusa and it blew my mind away! the smell and the cleanliness is amazing, especially coming from using city buses in downtown. now if only the students and people who don't know better, can understand that this bus is actually is a treat and should appreciate it. hopefully all buses can be like this one. read more

Yeah, The Foothill Buses are still late and haven't improved the timelyness of there service. Recently, I wanted to catch the FT282 to Puente Hills and I was at El Monte Station to catch the one I wanted. It never showed up and I had to wait to catch two buses later. Foothill transit really needs to get their shit together. We usually ALWAYS end up waiting atleast an hour for the bus. Sometimes we think, I guess we're just not lucky today... but that tends to happen way more often than not when taking foothill transit buses. We've also had experiences of foothill transit buses not stopping for us that just drove right on by. Not to mention an hour after you've been waiting for your bus to come, you'll have seen 3 of that line going the opposite way? I am very disappointed in the 185 going to Puente hills. I understand that it is a new route, but people depend on public transportation every day, and when I am late every day to class, it gets really unbelievable that 'the bus was late again. Sometime, the bus come late for 20 minutes. A disaster this past Saturday for the Rose Bowl shuttles from Old Town Pasadena. We arrived and began waiting in line at 2:45 for the 3:30 shuttle start time. By 3:45 the buses still did not arrive and the Foothill Transit staff provided NO information regarding the delay. In fact, they were sarcastic and belligerent when asked when the shuttles would be arriving. Staff with radios had no information and displayed a lack of any concern. Foothill Executives: I have been a 498 commuter from West Covina for over 25 years. But how times have changed. There are more and more commuters and its becoming increasingly difficult most days to either connect as you wait in line of over 30-40 people to just get on a bus into DTLA as scheduled during peak hours between 7-8 am. Not to mention we've been in line for over 10-15 minutes, just to wait another 10 minutes. Reasons are because of the buses not arriving at their scheduled time or the bus at West Covina WB into DTLA is to capacity. Passengers have no choice but to stand in on a bus just to get to work on time. I feel this is a liability and dangerous to not have a passenger seat. Shame on you Foothill !! it is apparent that more and more people are taking public transportation and we need more buses during peak morning and evening hours. Please add more 498 buses. When my sister left her wallet on the bus 2/27/15 (on Friday night--the worst possible time), they went way beyond the call of duty and tracked it down at the bus yard in Pomona, where we were able to get it that night. I made an account just so I can write this review. I've taken Foothill transit from years now over 8 years. I think the silver streak is pretty on point on the schedule, but in order for me to take that bus, I have to take the 178. This 178 bus is the worst bus I've ever taken in my life. It is ALWAYS late. Never on time. If they arrive too early at the stop, they won't stop there and leave at the scheduled time, they will just keep going leaving the people who goes by the schedule left out, having to wait for at least 40 minutes! The 178 was suppose to come 30 minutes ago already and it NEVER came! When I checked the online tracking thing after waiting 40 minutes already, it says that the next one is gonna be coming in 33 minutes! What is this?! So out of patience, I called the Foothill transit to ask about the really accuracy of the bus location and even they couldn't find the bus! They said that the bus must of have their GPS off and that they have no idea where it went and why it didn't pass by my stop. I've waited over 1hr and 20 minutes for this ridiculous bus. I pay the monthly pass for the silver streak rate, the least Foothill Transit can do is give the right schedule or at least know where there busses are at!!! It is so unprofessional! It's a terrible experience!! Plus, one of the bus drivers didn't want to let in any more people in the bus just cause he closed the door, but the bus was still art the stop. He opened it eventually to yell at the passengers trying to get in and saying "Catch the next bus, this one is full!!" Which was a lie, everyone can see that the bus was half empty!! He was so rude! One of the many I've encountered with. The only reason why I gave this 2 stars is because some of drivers are actually really nice and friendly and because of the silver streak being reliable and on time at most cases. i am reviewing them as a driver who uses the same roads as their bus drivers. i had a very bad and scary experience with one of their drivers today. she was trying to pass me on a single lane carriageway. imagine a huge oversized vehicle squeezing a little sedan out in a single lane road! isn't this road bullying?!! what if she caused an accident and someone got hurt or died! i have since reported this to their office as well as sent an email to their board members. i really hope they take action against such irresponsible drivers. i suggest ... riders, if you can manage with other transportation means ... avoid foothill transit ... till they buck up and provide better training for their drivers and do not put the safety of passengers and fellow road users at risk. read more

I cannot and do NOT recommend Foot Hill Transit as a viable and reliable transportation source for people who do not have a car or access to other transportation! These people NEVER stick to their posted schedules and time and time again have made me sit at the bus stop at Golden Springs and Sabana Dr. for more than 30 minutes with no bus in sight. Like today, when I went to go to my job and was waiting on the bus. I got there at about 1:20. Six minutes later, I check my phone, 1:26--no bus. I said to myself, "Okay, I know their posted time of arrival is 1:41 at Diamond Bar Blvd and Golden Springs so they should be here at 1:43 or 1:45. I'll wait." 1:45 passes; 1:50 passes. Finally, it's 1:54 and I was like "I have to be at work in 6 minutes." I finally had to get a ride with Uber and they were to me in 3 minutes or less! I have written at least one complaint email to these folks at least a year ago regarding this issue. Ever since then, I have logged all the times they've been late and plan to write another complaint email once I finish this review. Add to the fact that I have cerebral palsy and have trouble commuting for work as it is. Again, I cannot recommend anyone riding with Foothill transit because of the amount of times they've either been late or skipped busses when late. They have also left me when I was two seconds from them. Not good! That is not how a business is supposed to be run, especially one where you have the city relying on you! When you post a time schedule, please arrive within 5-10 minutes of the scheduled time--not 30! read more

My husband had an appointment a few days ago to get fitted for a new power chair, which was a very important thing that he needed to do. They were 30 minutes late, so he called them and was given the runaround by a bunch of different rude people. Finally, he was told that someone called posing as him, claiming his heart wasn't feeling good and he didn't want to come. So, either the bus driver didn't feel like coming and made up a lie, or something else stupid happened, but treating someone like dirt that needs help just because you don't feel like helping them is absolutely unacceptable. So now, all of the medical professionals that were involved in this appointment have been put out, with their time wasted and ours too. Plus, with my husband's condition, the cold actually hurts him, not that this company cares. Also, he could hear them grumbling about him on the phone when they put him on hold, sounding very annoyed with him. I've never seen such an unprofessional, low quality bunch of people at a company in my whole life. Why would you even be in a business that serves disabled people if you don't really care? The dispatchers are egotistical maniacs. Yesterday I was waiting for the foothill 480. My mom called them and asked them when the next 480 was going to come because we wanted to go to west Covina mall. The dispatch said the bus would be there at 3:06. We waited awhile it was now 3:12 I called dispatch and asked them where the 3:06 bus was and they put me on hold so they could track the bus by gps. The man at dispatch came back on and told me the 480 just barely left the pomona transit center. That it should be there in 15-20 mins. At 3:25 I call again and ask when the 3:06 bus is going to get here. They put me on hold so they could track the bus on gps. The same man at dispatch that spoke to me ten mins. ago told me that the 480 just left the Pomona transit center. I told him he just told me this 10 mins. ago. Then he said, well it just left Pomona transit center right now. I get angry and fed up so finally I say: "This is unacceptable that you cannot be responsible enough to have your busses arrive here on schedule. The schedule says the 480 will be here at 3:06 and it is now after 3:20 if your drivers cannot be responsible enough to be here on schedule, they should be fired let me talk to a supervisor, I would like to file for a complaint." Then the man at dispatch said that I would have to leave my name and number and he will have the supervisor call me back. I kept on insisting on talking to a supervisor until eventaully the dispatch just hung up on me. They are egotistical maniacs and I am ashamed to be a customer. The only reason why I keep using this lousy bus is because I am unable to drive. read more
