All of our kids love the campus and the teachers. The curriculum is challenging but the school is always finding new ways to make learning fun. VCS encourage family unity and there are many social events for families. We feel like VCS is our second home and we have made many friends there, friends that we actually like to hang out with outside of school. As a parent I am always worried if the curriculum isn't challenging enough so when other kids come to Village I ask the parents if their children find the work too easy or more challenging. I have yet to hear of one parent tell me it is easier than their previous school. The teachers and staff alike truly care about these kids and love God. It is evident the moment you set foot on campus. VCS promotes college at an early age and will guide your children through the entire process and hold their hand every step of the way. They focus on what the children like and what they want to study. VCS is a wonderful school and we are so thankful our children have the opportunity to attend.

Their program provided the extra support our son needed alongside the reading intervention he was receiving at school, helping him accelerate to reading at grade level. The learning environment kept him engaged, especially the token reward system. He loved earning tokens and was motivated to save for the top-shelf prizes, which was a great lesson in delayed gratification and working toward a bigger goal. The most rewarding part of the experience was watching his confidence grow. As his reading skills improved, so did his belief in himself. Seeing him reach the point where he no longer needed additional reading support at school was an incredible milestone and something we're so proud of. We're grateful to the Sylvan team for helping him achieve such a tremendous accomplishment.

From the very beginning, the director, Ani, has been amazing--she guided me through the whole enrollment process with patience, care, and so much flexibility. What I really appreciate is how accommodating and understanding the entire team is. They truly make you feel supported, not just like another customer walking in the door. Ani in particular goes above and beyond to make sure my son gets exactly what he needs to succeed. If you're looking for a place where your child can get quality tutoring in a welcoming, supportive environment, I highly recommend Sylvan. The difference in how my son feels about reading and writing is already noticeable, and I'm grateful for the extra effort they put into making this a positive experience for both of us.

It's a small school in a beautiful neighborhood. I've personally heard staff and principal lead weekly assemblies, and they use empowering language and examples which I am grateful my daughter is exposed to. This principle leads his staff and students with the ideals of the Golden Rule in mind. They talk about fairness and equality. They talk about diversity in respectful, factual, and age-appropriate ways. They do a lot of school spirit and community engagement/ service events. (Examples: Local H.S. Football games, spirit weeks, food drives).... I know I said it, but it's worth repeating , they are very good at keeping the parents informed... Not only about upcoming events, community outreach programs/ opportunities, parent surveys, how to get in on district meetings; but also have kept us very well informed about everything from Covid protocols/updates/ cases, to the day to day incidences that have happened during the school day . I've never been surprised with so much as why my kid has come home with a scrape on her knee. They are really laying the groundwork for creating a culture of accountability, kindness, safety, and good academics. It's November 2021 and during this time of the year, we can say we are truly grateful for this fantastic community gem. Go Brainard Bees!

For the longest time, nursing school lived in the same category as "I'll get to it eventually."…read moreEventually turned into 6-7 years of postponing, doubting myself, and wondering if I was really cut out for it. Ironically, what finally pushed me to take the leap was watching a coworker graduate from West Coast University. Did she vent about the program being stressful? Absolutely. Did she ever have a bad thing to say about the professors or staff? Not once. That spoke volumes. Nursing school isn't supposed to be easy. Caring for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives isn't easy, so why should the preparation be? Hearing about the challenges didn't discourage me, it reassured me that the program was doing exactly what it was meant to do. So, after attending an information session for the second time in two years, I finally decided to stop flirting with the idea of nursing school and commit. What stood out to me immediately was the transparency! From day one, everything was laid out clearly: what was required for admission, what resources were available, and what steps needed to be taken to succeed. There were no surprises, no sugarcoating, just straightforward guidance and support. Then began the adventure of getting all my "stuff" together. I would be remiss if I didn't give a special shout-out to David Gallardo, who is low-key one of the biggest reasons my application was completed at all. During the application process, I was navigating some personal challenges while helping care for my mother. Throughout it all, David remained patient, encouraging, and consistently supportive. More importantly, he always started our conversations by asking how I was doing, not just where I was in the application process. That may seem like a small thing, but it meant a lot. His kindness and reassurance gave me confidence when mine was running low. If first impressions truly matter, David was the perfect first impression of West Coast University. Now, as I prepare to begin this journey, I won't pretend I'm not nervous. I have moments where I wonder whether I have what it takes. But I also know that West Coast University has already shown me that support, resources, and dedicated advisors are available every step of the way. At that point, the responsibility shifts to me to use those resources and keep moving forward. So here I am, equal parts anxious and determined, looking forward to the long study sessions, sleepless nights, and study-group marathons. Two years from now, I plan to walk across that stage knowing that earning my degree wasn't easy, but it was worth it. And when that day comes, I'll happily become an unofficial ambassador for West Coast University, completely pro bono lol. If I can help encourage even one person who has been sitting on the fence the way I did for 6-7 years, wondering whether they're capable or whether the timing is ever going to be right, then I'll gladly share my experience. Sometimes all it takes is seeing someone else take the leap to realize you can do it too. For now, though, it's time to get to work. See y'all in two years! GM.

The positive experience I had working with her left a lasting impression and I am incredibly grateful for everything she did to help me begin this journey.
