Normally I go to Cambria bike but thought I would try another store in town. They charged me half a grand and didn't fix my bike. Was supposed to be a full cleaning and reset and they didn't even lube the headset. I came in because of a noise my bike was making, they told me they couldn't reproduce it but the next shop I went to did it easily. I have a friend who stopped by here with a flat tire on her way to school and they told her they didn't have a pump to help her. At a bike shop... come on. I am used to these types of stores having very friendly and helpful employees. Not impressed by this one, won't be going back. On the positive- the service was quick and their communication was decent. read more

Charged me 20 plus's the cost of the tube to change a tube when the tire was off the bike and the old tube was already out. Literally took 3 minutes when he said he could help me out. read more

Customer Service--the definition of great customer service is Foothill Cyclery! My journey with them started over 10 years ago when I was looking for a place to service my Rad Rover e-bike. I first took it to CBO (it was downhill from my house) but they stuck their noses up in the air--they were not going to work on a silly ebike! I rode over to Foothill, and talked with the staff there about what I wanted to do, and they were happy to help me. About $1000 later my Rad was super Rad, and Foothill had a customer for life. Since then I have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars there--purchased 4 bikes (so far) from them and a whole slew of accessories--all because Josh and the staff were willing to talk to an e-bike kook. No matter how crazy an idea I have for my bikes, the gang there will listen, weigh out the pros and cons of my decision (many times saving me from myself), and then execute! So if you are looking for a new bike, or need your old bike serviced, look no further than Foothill Cyclery! read more

100% recommend this place. When my grandmother's wheelchair wheel came off during our trip, we were in a real pinch and needed a quick fix. Josh and the team at Foothill Cyclery went above and beyond to help us out--they wouldn't let us leave until the problem was fully solved, even though they didn't have the exact part on hand. Their kindness, patience, and dedication meant so much to us. We are incredibly thankful and truly appreciative of their help. read more

This particular time I was able to get right in for a rather quick fix. Tech was communicative and friendly

Nice big store with lots of inventory of everything and all kinds of bikes. But if you are looking for BIKE RENTAL beware. If you plan to rent but are riding on a Sunday or Wednesday then make other plans. The shop is closed on Sun and Wed and you will be charged for the days that the shop is closed. In other words, if you pick up the bikes at closing on Saturday and want to ride Sunday and then return the bikes in less than 24 hours you will be screwed. You will have to pay for 48 hours because the shop is closed. So even though you are not riding the bike Sunday afternoon - Monday, and the shop is not able to rent the bike during that time, you will be charged for it. If you want to rent a bike over a Sunday or Wednesday I recommend you contact Art's Cyclery near downtown. read more

Had a great experience renting an e-mountain bike from Foothill Cyclery. Bike was in perfect condition and the staff was really helpful. My daughter is not as excited about mountain biking as the rest of the family so the e-bike option was a great idea so that we could all enjoy the trails together. We are not from the area. The staff at the shop was really helpful recommending a trail that was suitable for our whole family. They knew all about the trails in the area and we had a great time!!! They took extra time to make sure my daughter was fitted to the bike and knew how to operate the electric boost. This is a great shop. Knowledgeable staff and a couple of cozy chairs for others to hang out while we got the bike. Really recommend this bike shop near San Luis Obispo!!! read more

So when I attended Cal Poly before yelp, like over two decades ago, I bought various parts for a road bike, later a mountain bike bought there, including tires, inner tubes, tools, etc.... I have always received great service and advice there. Even with a recent visit, I bought spare inner rubes and a tire, after destroying back tire on Poly Canyon. When you visit there, there are some tools and a floor pump near the front door available for you to use. Sales people are prompt and found me the items I needed since I was 250 miles away from my home base. Even over the span of two decades, it's still the same and part of the reason I still visit this shop. read more

Josh, Sam, and the boys (and girls) at Foothill Cyclery are simply the best. I bought a bike on-line, brought it to them for service and right away they were super helpful (unlike two of the other bike shops in town that shunned me like I was a leper.) Since then I've bought 3 bikes from them, and have all of my bikes serviced there. They are my bike shop for sure-you should make it yours! read more

Foothill Cyclery - Bike Rentals Near Me - San Luis Obispo, California

We were very clear about our needs, 2 ebikes for gently sloping and flat dirt roads on a ranch. I was quoted $2,300 each and pd a deposit. When I picked them up 4 days later, I was charged $2,700 each. (I agreed to pay the correct price). When we got the bikes home, we took them out of the truck and rode 1 bike up a dirt road for approx 10 min. The ride was so bumpy, I deemed it somewhat dangerous and certainly not pleasant. The headlight rattled off the handlebars and the bike made sounds like something was mechanically off balance, so I walked the bike back to the truck. Never road bike #2. When I returned the bikes, I was charged $500 restocking fee! Based on the fact that I was very clear about my needs and the fact that the bike seemed to be rattling apart during the first 10 min ride, I feel this is totally unreasonable. So, if you buy a bike from this company, I highly recommend test driving it before you buy. My test drive cost me $500. read more

I rented a bike online from Foothill (Trek road bike). and the process was simple. I showed up, bike got minor adjustments, pedals and off I went. The local shop pro was kind enough to direct me to a couple local rides that would give me a good work out and some sweet pretty views - both didn't disappoint. The bike was in good working order, shifted when I asked & the Foothill waterbottle was a nice momento of the experience. I'm very happy with the whole experience! read more

I Bought a bike for my daughters 7th birthday from target after putting together I had little bit of difficulty with the front brake, brought it into foothill Cyclery to see if they could help me adjust it and double check that it is safe. They did the best they could with that braking system, which isn't the greatest. I appreciate their time and friendly staff. read more

WOW - I don't even know where to start. I walked in to Foothill Cyclery with my brother who had just had his bike tire stollen. So needless to say he was in a low place not very happy with the cards he was delt that day. We were greeted by Josh and from there our whole day just shifted... in the best way possible. Josh has a quick whit and inviting pretense about him. He began to tell us a story that I will never, ever forget. It made my brother and I laugh so hard... I'm still laughing about it. He was real. It wasn't forced it was to the core REAL customer service. Customer service is not a job it's a choice. To receive some of the best customer service in a bike shop.... my mind is absolutely blown. I worked directly with Josh, Tim, and Hunter. Not necessarily in that order but damn as I'm writing this I want to go buy a bike just to hang out with these people. They care about their product, their job, and obviously their work environment because everyone worked as a team. Ok I could go on and on but I will leave you with this: just walk in there even if you aren't looking for a bike say hello and see where that takes ya, you will be blown away. Thank you FootHill Cyclery especially to Josh, Tim, and Hunter. Your kindness and passion changed my world. read more

We just bought a Yuba cargo bike from them and from start to finish, I loved every bit of the experience. I worked with Josh over the phone to first order the bike and all the accessories we wanted included. He helped me get parts that were backordered and was quick to inform me if there was an item he couldn't get. He checked in often about the bike and they held onto it for an extra week or so to assemble a part that didn't come till later and I greatly appreciated that. When we drove up from Santa Barbara on a Saturday, we got to the shop and both guys at the front were helpful and knowledgeable. We had no idea what the bike would be like size wise, so we didn't have any straps on hand and the guy let us borrow some tie downs (he actually was letting us take them but we wanted to return them) so we could go to the nearest hardware store to purchase some of our own. I would 100% make the 1.5 hr drive to buy a bike from them again. I love when people love their jobs because they make the shops atmosphere that much more pleasant and you could tell everyone we worked with loved their jobs. read more

I recently purchased a new Trek ebike from Josh. He and his team went above and beyond to make sure I was completely satisfied with the purchase; including making sure I had the right saddle, handlebars, pedals, etc. There were many things about this bike that I that I have not delt with before such as the electronics, tubeless tires, disc brakes. Josh spent time going through everything and answering all my questions. He also made any adjustments needed after my first ride. I love my new bike and so happy that I bought it from Foothill. read more

Had to pick up a bike that we bought from here for my little brother for Christmas. The people here were super respectful and helpful.

Really great bike shop in SLO. Excellent customer service beginning to end. I called them to see if they had any Hybrids in stock and they did so I drove 3 hours to get one. When I arrived they were busy but acknowledged my presence and said they would be with me in a few minutes (totally get it as all bikes shops!). The girl that ended up helping me out was super nice. She let us ride it behind the store which was nice. They also checked it out before letting me take it home. You can tell they all take a lot of pride in their shop and love sharing local trail tips etc. I highly recommend this shop! read more

We are new to the area so I did not have a bike shop yet. I came in here in a bind...needing quick service and hoping not to have to pay too much. I couldn't be happier with the service and prices. They had everything we needed right in the shop. It's not a huge shop with hundreds of bikes, but it is big enough and has enough qualified bike professionals to have what you need. I am happy to have found a good bike shop! read more

Foothill Cyclery - Love my bike. - Bike Rentals Near Me - San Luis Obispo, California

Foothill Cyclery was the closest store to me with the bike I wanted in-stock (Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 - 5 stars on the bike too!). I drove down from SF to take it for a ride and ended up buying it. They may have thought I was a little crazy for making that drive to get a bike but I'm glad I did. Great service the whole time, friendly folks and they even recommended a local ride called 'the loop' that was an awesome way to break in the bike. Check them out if you need (or want) a new bike. Their MTB rentals looked awesome too. read more

Super great! Not only did the guy help me get me top notch service he also asked me about myself and how my day was going. Once they evaluated my bike, the technician told me all the things that should be fixed in order of "necessary" to "can wait". Fantastic service. Will be back again. read more

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's where I send all who ask where to get started buying a bike.

I came here with my boyfriend to rent my first mountain bike! My boyfriend is an avid mountain-biker and I thought I'd join him one day. Seeing as bikes are crazy expensive, renting one seemed like the best option. The staff here were awesome. They taught me about the bike and gave me all the gear I could possibly need. The bikes available for rent are demos and are some of the best of the best bikes available. I paid about $50 for a half day ride. I don't have anything to compare this too but considering how much the bikes are worth (upwards of 2-4K), the cost seemed reasonable. It is definitely an expensive sport but so much fun. read more
