Just a teeny bit shy of the 5' mark, finding jeans is always a huge pain in the butt - but finding shoes and boots in my size is the bane of my existence. For the last several years, I have been on the hunt for a pair of knee high boots that come in my midget foot size (5-5.5, or a kid's 3-4) and actually come up to my knee, not four inches or more past. You see, the world wasn't made for us vertically challenged folk. When I have managed to find my small size in a boot, they have come way past my knee and I look like a little kid playing dress-up, or worse yet - like puss-in-boots, and I am about to go fence some scoundrel. Apparently small-footed individuals are also of Amazonian height. Lo and behold, Steve Madden. I saw a pair of shoes on their website, and called the store to see if they had them in my size in stock. As luck would have it, there was one lone pair, and it was soon to be mine. The man on the phone, Matt, was super nice and pleasant, and answered all of my questions, and was able to hold them for me until I could come to the store later that night. I dragged my friend out in the rain (I'm a girl, I need the friend fashion approval and the boy was all, um please take your friend because, yeah, I'm a boy, they're boots, I'm sure they're nice, yada yada yada). Matt was super nice and super friendly in person as was the other guy working there that night (Rohan). They brought out my boots and they were FABULOUS. They are delicious and beautiful and all mine - and the first knee-high boots I have ever worn/owned in my life. When you'e used to buying kid shoes that hit mid-calf, this is a great achievement and a boot victory. Sadly, they are for X-mas and since I was helping Santa play elf this year I will just have to wait - but it's worth it. They offered advice on how to care for it and all that good stuff, and the store was matching the web sale (20-25% off) which was just an added bonus. Since my friend was drooling over another pair of boots, I get her a pair as well that she loves - but she too will have to wait until Old King Cole comes on down that chimney. A+ for customer service on the phone and in store, and A+ for making good quality boots that are spunky and fun, and come in sizes to fit all needs.
