This place is nothing like what it started as. I give them a year or two before they go out of business. I went there looking for looking for two specific items that I know they sell. I found both but neither one had a price tag and of course there was no one around to ask. You know who was there? People riding laps around the second floor on bikes and kids playing volleyball in the aisle. It was as if management took the day off and nobody cared at all about how the place was run. read more

So now I understand the negative reviews. After coming here a few times, finding an employee to willfully help is like winning the lottery. You cannot find anyone. I literally feel like I'm chasing them between racks to come help me. Finally found someone and he told me to meet him across the floor. Five minutes. Ten minutes. No dude. Somehow, found another. She said they didn't even sell what I had asked about. She said she would have someone else come over. Five minutes. Didn't wait any longer. Found one small item I needed and only purchased it because I had a gift card. Third person never showed up. The staff is completely unfriendly, NOT helpful, and could not be bothered to work. I will not be shopping here again unless there is something I cannot find somewhere else. I can't imagine whatever I need isn't on Amazon. The prices are no bargain here anyway. Save your time and your dollars. They stink. read more

Came in today for hockey (dek and ice equipmnet) for my 10 y/o son. we were lucky to work with Austin who took hia time educating us as well as showing all the options and answering our many questions. He even suggested sneakers for better ankle support which wasn't something on my radar. He was friendly and included my son in whole process. My son was in heaven and the smile on his face walking out was priceless. My son wanted to thank Austin ans trying giving him $20 gift card that he refused and insisted my son keep for him. Very refreshing experience as we will definitely be back! read more

This place is a joke. I was directed by one of the 4 people who did not greet me when I walked. I was told just go upstairs there are right there. I saw some employs walking around and one man directed me to a section and then walked away. The coat section has mens and women's mixed together. I shouldn't have to arrange your stock or spend my time looking through every single jacket and guess what size it is or if it's a man or a women's jacket. NEVER AGAIN!I read more

New Year.. new resolutions- found myself in Dicks in Lake Grove. Originally looking at treadmills, met Sam in fitness dept. She was absolutely wonderful to say the least! She introduced me to a popular spin bike sold in store. After buying bike online, picked up in Riverhead store- to find a smashed screen. Contacted company which I will not name, as company spin bike made from customer service needs extensive improvement. Frustrated to say least, called Dicks in Lake Grove, to fortunately speak to Sam once again, who with her manager Will made it right. Thank you so much!!!! Professional, courteous & an absolute asset to your store. Thank you so much Sam!!!! read more

Yes it is very good I have been here with my sons for sports and they love it definitely recommend it

We had a great experience when we came to Dick's one night to pick up the bikes my husband ordered for himself and my son. The staff was very helpful and the bikes were assembled and ready to go. We basically drove 90-minutes for a ten minute transaction. We had some questions about the bikes and the gentleman that assisted us was very knowledgeable and gave us some good suggestions for accessories since hubby and I have been trying to make biking a regular hobby in our lives. My son and husband love their bikes and we love riding the Westchester trails that traverse the county. read more

DICK'S Sporting Goods - The perfect gifting for any celebration - Outdoor Gear Near Me - Lake Grove, New York

Three stars for their wide variety of sporting good. It lost two stars because there were no sales people to help with questions and the checkout line, with only one register, was very long. No call for an additional cashier, even after being on line for 15 minutes. Under-staffing may be a great way to save money but as a business practice, it's poor management. It sends customers away! read more

Best place for anything active recreational enthusiasts are looking for, I get everything from there!! Yah Dick's

This place sucks!!!!!!!!!!! Don't bother coming here. Here's my story: I decided to come and get a paddleboard and a kayak here for their big sail. Meanwhile I reserved it on a Monday and picked it up on a Saturday. NO JOKE. I spent my whole day off here roaming for employees to help me put a kayak and a paddleboard on my cars roof. When they finally did help me they put it in the middle of my minivan and now I can't see to my right. If I couldn't get out of the parking lot I wouldn't be able to get home. So I go back. Kiss another 3-4 hours goodbye. Eventually after waiting for help I just left the paddleboard their and just took the kayak home. So the next day I come back and get the paddleboard when I got car straps from another place. Don't come here!!!!!!!!!!! Boycotted read more

Excellent store and staff members are always very helpful. I come here often to buy sports clothes and gear and they've always helped me find what I need. read more

While this store has everything you could possibly need, their staff isn't the most helpful. I came here looking for a gift for my father and aimlessly wandered the building because no one bothered to ask me if I needed help. Eventually I interrupted two employees' conversation to find what I needed. At time of checkout, the line was pretty lengthy, and they only had two registers open. For such a large store with a good amount of traffic, I'm surprised their staff isn't larger or at least better managed. If you're a pretty independent shopper and don't mind the treasure hunt, this Dick's will be just fine. If you lack some patience (like me...), you might find yourself getting easily frustrated here. read more

Why do I bother? Stopped in here looking for Jets gear on my pilgrimage to New York. Found a whole section, but it all appeared to be kids stuff. I made the mistake of asking for help. I find Dick's to be just a step above Sports Authority...although your still dealing with very generic sporting equipment. Apparel selection is better, and with two floors to work with they seem to have large specialty departments, camping, golf, etc. We were in the store looking for soccer cleats for my young daughter, sitting in one are for no less than 30 minutes, trying on different cleats. Not one sale person came over to ask if we needed any help. Granted, we didn't the help. But just an idea of the type of service you may get if you stop into this particular store. And it was not a particularly busy day. We found what we were looking for (moderately price soccer cleats) and picked up a couple pairs of flip-flops that were on sale (impulse buy). I would definitely recommend this store over the Sports Authority, just because they have more variety of product to choose from. read more

Went on a Sunday evening and didn't realize they closed early... I barely got up to the door to try and read the hours sign when a worker unlocked it to let other workers out and said, "See you tomorrow." It was so shockingly rude that my boyfriend didn't catch it, and began asking if they were closed. "See you tomorrow" repeated the worker, rudely. We couldn't even tell if he was being rude right to us, or completely ignoring us and saying it to the other workers. I mean really, have some dignity and a better work ethic. It wouldn't hurt you to say, "Sorry, we're closed, but we open tomorrow from 10-10 (or whatever)" We went to Sports Authority and got what we needed for a good price, and with the help of a friendly staff. Dick's indeed. read more

Ever since WE lost Golfsmith in Lake Grove I have had a need for the same level of personal service and quality in expertise that I used to get with Golfsmith. I am so happy that Mike and Carlo are the golf professionals at Dick's here in Lake Grove that truly make for an exceptional customer experience. Thank you guys for restoring my faith in Dick's Sporting Goods and being that resource for all golfers. It's that level of service that takes one's game to the next level. THANK YOU. read more

I really like this store. Some people complain that they are overpriced, but they price match. So go shopping, find what you like, and then do a quick Google search on your phone. If you find a better price, they'll give it to you. A lot of stores advertise price matching but when it comes down to it they make it a big hassle or create some reason why the item you want is an exclusion. I've never had that problem here. The staff is always friendly, the store is well stocked, and if you sign up for their rewards program, you get a $10 certificate for every $300 you spend. They also send you coupons in the mail and emails regarding their flash sales. I've gotten a lot of great deals at Dick's both in the brick and mortar and online. They stock the brands we love and they are one of the few stores where when we shop we actually have fun! You can also find what you want online and then check its availability before driving to the store. This is a big time saver. We bought a fishing rod here over the Summer and we were able to apply for and acquire fishing permits the same day. I didn't realize you needed a fishing permit to go fishing off the beach. But, their staff knew and hooked us up:) We are big fans of North Face and Patagonia. Dick's is one of the few stores I know of that carries both brands and doesn't exclude them from their promos/coupons. What can I say? I love Dick's. Yes. I realize how that sounds;) Get your mind out of the gutter. Haha! read more

The store is really clean, and the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Larger and cheaper than Commack for the items I'm interested in, so no question on which one to patronize. Ordered a lacrosse stick last week and my grandson wanted it strung in sachem colors. Christmas gift. I was told it will be ready Tuesday . My husband and I were looking for a specific Crosman air rifle and scope. We had questions the Manager DAN at the Smith Haven Lake Grove New York mall was excellent, patient and gave us a demonstrations on the new scope and the replaced scope on an older air rifle we brought in for servicing.. it made up for the misinformation we received the evening by a part timer who said they didn't sell rifles at Dick's Sporting Goods. We called again the next day and asked for the Store manager and that's when we were referred to DAN and we were very pleased with the second experience.. read more

It's over priced and staff is rude but since sports authority is closing down Dicks will take advantage of this and rip customers off even more now. Would I go here? As a soccer mom, the struggle to find the right cleats several times a year for my ever growing teenager (turf or grass or futsal, depending on the season) is much harder than I ever imagined! Especially with no "soccer stores " in Suffolk county. But much to my surprise, the shoe department at Dick's at the Smith Haven Mall is staffed by a knowledgeable young man, who was both helpful and understanding of my sons desire to have the "latest model" of cleats (who knew the kids paid attention to that sort of thing). He was able to accurately measure my sons foot, then he had a handheld device that tells him immediately if they have his size in stock. I would definitely recommend this newly renovated store. read more

Went their to buy shoes, as I was looking at the displays and touching them to see which one I liked, one of the workers came up to me and ripped the shoe out of my hand and told me that I wasn't allowed to touch or wear the shoes on display. She was very nasty. But this was weird because another worker had brought me a pair of shoes from the back room for me to try on, but he said the only other pair they had was the one on display. So he told me to wear the right shoe in the box and the left shoe from the one on display. I was very confused after I was told to wear the shoe on display but then the girl worker said I can not even touch the shoes on display. read more

My wife and I went there to purchase a rain jacket could not believe the overpriced items they had for sale. Twice I have made the mistake of trying to buy something from these idiots, well... never again. This time I was made to wait fifteen minutes in the gun section only to ask for a caliber of ammo that I was told, in an abrupt, terse manner, they didn't have, and while offering no additional information. Maybe something like "we'll be getting more in next week" or "let me check if we have some in another store" or some other courteous response you might normally use in dealing with a customer if you ever want them to return to your store again, would have been appreciated. Instead I get "no - we don't have any" and then a blank stare. And it's too bad for these jerks because while I was waiting I thought to myself that if they didn't have the caliber I needed in stock I would buy a new, different caliber ($1000) rifle along with ammo/accessories, which I had been thinking about anyway. And they had the rifle I wanted on display so i was all set to buy it, but after dealing with this @sshole I just walked away, never to return again. Nice job -- DICKS !!! read more

Don't bother getting skates sharpened here. I am new to skating and had new skates in the car as I passed Dicks, figured I'd get them sharpened. Big mistake. The guy had no idea what he was doing and couldn't figure the machine out. Another fellow came over and said figure skates are done by hand. Off to the back they went and "sharpened" them. I went out on the ice and almost hurt myself as my skates slipped out sideways underneath me. Took them to the store at the rink and was told they were flat. Woman even ran her hand over them to show they were not sharp. Paid again at the rink to get them done correctly. read more

Nice big organized sporting goods store. My problem, prices! There are no sales or promotions at Dick's. Customer service is great but prices here just don't appeal to me. The apparel, exercise equipment, etc is just out of my price range. The one area I do like to check out is their baseball equipment. Their selection is much better than Modell's and The Sports Authority. They carry a nice range of mitts, bats, etc. read more

First off, this is with the Dicks company and not so much an individual store. I Bought a fitbit online, because I am physically handicapped, and unable to stand long time in line. They had a promotion of $25 dicks cash to be sent by email on Dec.28th, to be used between Dec.25th to Jan.7th( I know how can you use it before the 28th when they send it??) Anyway the 29th comes and I don't get code, so I write customer service. I never get an answer back, but do get an email from dicks with the $25 code a day late, but ok. I then goto store to use it, and guess what, its no good expired!!! How can that be? I just got it in email 6 hours before going to store. I waited on a line which is not easy for me to do, and winded up paying for item, being that the code they sent is no good. This is the 3rd time in 2 months that dicks has screwed me, with points, never getting coupons, flat out lying to me, and yet people still deal with them. I just want what they owe me, and will never buy anything from them again! read more
