L.L.Bean, I love this brand now in my backyard! The name is from the founder, Leon Leonwood Bean. Leon Leonwood? A few things about this American, privately held company. Founded 1912 in Freeport Maine, L.L.Bean is known for their very generous return policy. They also specialize in clothing and outdoor recreation equipment. Like Duck Boots? I own a pair (Not from Leon Leonwood, another brand) which were invented by L.L.Bean. This store is a hikers and outdoors person dream store. The quality of the clothing is paramount, I came in last night to buy some wick tees and outdoor pants. There are great sales on heavy clothing, something I don't need but what I noticed was the different style rain coats. Beautiful looking coats that can be used for kayaking, hunting, hiking and more importantly, Disneyworld. L.L.Bean, the only Long Island location. Enjoy it folks! read more

I walked into the store (Smith Haven Mall) and was greeted by a person who said hello and welcomed me. Two seconds lady a woman came over to help me . (amazing now a days)I explained that I needed a jacket for a trip to Ireland. She then called another associate over because she was more knowledgable about raincoats. Her name was Stephanie and not only did she "know her raincoats" she listened to my needs and had some immediate choices. She had just been there herself and it was lovely speaking with her. She helped me pick the perfect jacket! The cashiers were even very friendly. I now also have an LLBEAN credit card. It is so rare now a days to get such personal service. Well this is the 2nd Bean Store experience for myself. All the usual goodies here and inside a nice mall.

Just learned about there weekly in store FREE clinics. We went for the kids and camping class. Got a lot of really great ideas. Richard ran the class and it was great. He was very informative and a natural teacher. They didn't push you to buy any thing. The store was clean, well layed out the staff was very friendly and not pushy. The employees don't know anything (really clueless, it is quite astonishing,) merchandise is way too expensive, and they are constantly trying to get you to sign up for their credit card. If you like small selection and crazy prices then this is your place. Not much "outdoor" equipment other than a couple shelves that look like they never get any attention. read more

i am a big fan of LL Bean and having a store on LI has been very helpful. i live in queens but do a lot of hiking and nature walking on LI and lots of shopping on LI as well. prior to this store opening, i had to drive either to yonkers or to one of the NJ locations to get what i needed. i am a person who wants to try everything on before buying, so online shopping doesn't really make me too happy. now that this store is on LI i would say i make a purchase here at least once or twice a month, and my overall rate of purchases has probably tripled since this store opened. the store itself isn't as large as the one in yonkers or marlton NJ but it definitely has all the necessities and i don't have to pay a toll to get there. purchased here so far are high zip up leather boots (westport i think), several of the womens beansport suede sneakers, several types of jeans and trail pants, the fisherman tunic sweater, lots of accessories, and mens shirts and shoes, and a wayside crossbody bag which was great for recent travels to a theme park. the staff is always very helpful. the lines move quickly. the store opens early even on sunday when the mall itself opens later. the ladies dressing room is large and very clean with a nice little seating area too. there is always a clearance rack although it is generally way out of season which is to be expected. i have nothing negative to say at all. the employees have offered info a few times on classes given as well. the only thing preventing the 5th star is the smaller size of the store, but the fact that this ins't a free-standing store like marlton is probably the reason - they had to work with the space that was provided and they did a great job. all in all, this is a great store and i am thrilled to have an LL Bean on LI. i hope they never leave! read more
