He indicated achilles surgery might be needed. Then he joined a medical group, and we sort of wandered away. The second podiatrist went straight to surgery, which we consented to. Basically, detach the achilles, file down the spur, and reattach. After all that, the problem isn't any better than it was. Enter Dr Rowe. He evaluated the foot, and then ordered a series of MRI images to be taken. In hindsight, I have to wonder why the previous guys didn't do that! His conclusion: of course the achilles surgery didn't work because the calf muscle is a bit too short. So the spur is growing again because the underlying problem wasn't fixed. The calf needs to be lengthened. He was very up-front, very friendly, and not rushed. He stayed until all our questions were answered. We've declined for now, but I was impressed that he wanted detailed pictures to see what was really going on, and then made a suggestion that made sense. I think we have a new podiatrist. I suspect that surgery will happen, but for now we're going to live with it.

I actually have added this office to Yelp, and the review below is repeated for the office entry…read more I don't know how long it will take Yelp to display the Dobson office. Hopefully not long. I think it important to have the office since there are TWO doctors there, and Dr Discont is one of them. Anyway, my review of the office is repeated below: My wife has had foot problems for a few years now. Initially it was a neuroma which was diagnosed by Dr Discont. The orthotics he had made fixed her problem. However, recently, she began having severe pain. X-rays revealed she had bone spurs which led to plantar's fasciitis. For this she saw Dr Krahn. Initially I was concerned that Dr Discont was not available (he was booked out several weeks). But Dr Krahn has proven to be a knowledgeable, patient, and thorough physician. He methodically applies treatments, and if results are not satisfactory, he moves to an elevated treatment. Surgery is his last resort, and so far my wife has managed to avoid it. She is still battling her problem, but progress is being made. Dr Krahn is pleased with it, and thinks we will be able to avoid surgery. And now our daughter, the soccer player, is seeing Dr Krahn for foot pain and ankle spraining. It's too early to tell, but the x-rays showed her feet were fine. She is getting therapy to strengthen her ankles, and we are hopeful that the foot pain was just because her cleats were a bit too small (even though she thought they fit fine). I definitely can recommend this office. And while both doctors are good, I'm really liking Dr Krahn.

During the procedure, I received a big-toe joint replacement in addition to the bunion repair. After surgery and rehabilitation, my big toe continued to bruise, ache, and cause persistent pain. I returned to the office several times, but was repeatedly told by Dr. Discont, who has sinced retired, to "give it time and we may need to have surgery again and make adjustments." I later learned from other members of the same practice that the joint replacement may not have been the best option for my condition or for my goals as a runner. I eventually spoke with Dr. Levitt who told me that joint replacement probably wasn't the best surgery for me and that a bone infusion would have been the best way to go. Dr. Levitt seemed to be the only honest, and caring physician in that practice. Next, I saw Dr. Freestone, the lead physician. He explained that correcting the problem now would require a bone graft and approximately six months of medical care, with no guarantee of success. However, I was then told that this office does not perform that type of surgery. I was given no treatment plan or meaningful referral and was essentially left to figure out the next steps on my own. I found the communication and follow-up extremely disappointing. To this day, I continue to experience swelling, bruising, and daily pain in my big toe. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. Honestly, I do not believe the doctors at this practce care.

I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED by how reports of SEXUAL HARASSMENT toward medical staff have been…read morehandled at this organization. A medical assistant has repeatedly experienced inappropriate and sexually harassing behavior from patients and has brought these concerns directly to the physicians and leadership responsible for supporting her. Despite communicating the seriousness of the situation, there has been little to no meaningful action to protect her or address the broader issue. What is especially concerning is that the response has apparently included telling the employee that she should stop wearing makeup, rather than addressing the inappropriate behavior of the patients responsible for the harassment. An employee's appearance is not an invitation for sexual harassment, and the responsibility for inappropriate behavior should not be placed on the person experiencing it. Employees should not have to repeatedly advocate for basic safety and respect in their workplace. There should be a clear process for reporting patient harassment, appropriate intervention when incidents occur, and meaningful support from the physicians and leadership overseeing these employees. I am intentionally not identifying the employee involved because this is not about putting her name on the internet. It is about bringing attention to a serious workplace issue that needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY. Leadership needs to take reports of sexual harassment seriously, communicate clearly about how employees can report these incidents, and take appropriate steps to protect their staff.

I went to another podiatrist who looked at my foot for pain I had for over a year. I had tried all…read moreof the standard protocols and many others. Hot/cold packs, anti-inflammatory meds, elevating, massage, ankle brace, wore a boot for 8 weeks etc. They had a MRI done and said I had a torn piece in my foot due to age and more importantly flat feet. They wanted to do shots to fix it, but that wouldn't fix my flat feet, the main issue causing the problem. After much research I landed on the hyprocure device and decided that was the best route to go to fix the main issue. I left the podiatrist office I originally had been seeing and went over to Dr Discont. Dr Discont took multiple xrays from multiple angles. He was worried about the scar tissue buildup in my sinus tarsi and not being able to open it enough for the Hyprocure device to fit in properly. After more research on his part, and a couple other xrays forcing the sinus tarsi to fully open he decided there was enough room. He and his staff aided me in receiving approval from my insurance company (Aetna) who normally doesn't cover the Hyprocure procedure. But due to the fact it was impacting other parts of my foot, as well as a miserable quality of life they approved it. I had the surgery on March 22, 2019. I woke up and of course was still under pain medication. Overall there really wasn't much pain unless I tried putting any weight on it. I was in my boot for a 2 month period. Dr Discont wanted to be extra cautious due to my weight, as well as slower than normal recovery issues. We did several follow up appointments. They ordered orthopedic inserts for my shoes. We are now 4 months out. Dr Discont said everything looks really good. 95% pain free. Only a slight bit left where my foot is adjusting to actually having an arch instead of flat feet, as well as the insert for the shoe. He wants to see me in another 6 months to review how I am doing. I felt Dr Discont was completely straight forward about everything. I had done lots and lots of research so what he was telling me was exactly what I knew to be true from researching the procedure. I felt his staff was extremely on top of their work, and appointments. They were all very nice and helpful. They offered appointment cards. They texted reminders to me, as well as I received email with appointment attachments which could be added to my calendar in my phone or computer. I would say it's one of the few offices I have been in where the staff had all bases covered for all the ways people like to remind themselves of appointments. Thank you for all your help. I highly recommend Dr Discont. It's important as a patient to ask questions. Do lots of research. Dr are not mind readers and can't account for every possible scenario running through your mind. No matter how dumb you think it maybe, just ask them. Don't go writing bad reviews because they can't think of that one little thing you thought they should have told you. You are just as responsible for your treatment as they are.
