Heres the security guard guarding anybody trying to go in...
    Josh G.

Just got blocked from going in the store 17 minutes before they close.. which by the way is listed on the wall as 10pm but online says midnite. The employees all want to be walking out by 10pm. This store is the biggest joke of a store ive ever been too. Id never come back if it wasnt 30 seconds from my house. The employees are rude and i actually watched a cashier try to fight their own security guard about 2 weeks ago. Id not recommend this store to anybody but an enemy. 0 stars if it was an option. After writing this theres still 9minutes until they close and theyve turned away atleast ten people already...

Store hours WRONG. Why does it say that the store closes at 12 midnight and I'm here at 948pm and the security is pulling in carts and locking the door. Waste of time gas. Terrible.

    Lines wrapped around the store.

The aisles are wide. The selections are immense. And the price is right. However they never have any cashiers. For this to be a warehouse grocery store, there needs to be more than three cashiers. Who is running this business? This is why i stopped shopping at food maxx.

We deserve a grocery store with working shopping carts! I only gave y'all 2 stars because I love the checkers.

FoodMaxx isn't a force to be reckoned with. ---except for their ridiculous prices on certain products being sold at their store. It's not a bad store, but it's also not all that special (good) either. This store is to be considered in the middle. I have been going to this store for years, and nothing really changed except for their logo and store name. Although, this grocery store is extremely convenient for those who are near East Oakland and for the residents in San Leandro. If you're too lazy to waste cash on expensive artisan items at Safeway, then head down over to FoodMaxx. There's at least a little bit of everything for everyone. ... But don't expect an artisan item like Hummus being sold at FoodMaxx. It's not there. FoodMaxx tends to have a sale on their produce, chips, and soft beverage drinks like the AriZona brand. Make sure to keep an eye out for those whenever you enter the store. They also want to please the Latino community by offering various pastries, baked bread, drinks, and the like. Other than that, the lines are pretty long when it's the afternoon on a weekday. There are times where you are being passively forced to go to a different line if a certain check out aisle closes. But oh well. You gotta deal with it once that happens. Overall, it's a decent convenient grocery store. P.S: Sunnyside Farms is the "brand" being sold at FoodMaxx and nowhere else, folks.

So many good looking meats and varieties of sausages. I wish we could shop here more often, but it's totally out of our price range. We came here on a whim. We were in town for a couple of days and needed lunch later that day without having time to go out. We looked at their inhouse prepackaged refrigerated meals and picked out some eggplant parmesan and went to the prepared food table and took home a half a quart of butternut squash soup. Lunch was warm and filling on a nice chilly day. I was happily surprised that the eggplant parmesan came out so well. It was nicely breaded and wasn't soggy and was very flavorful and not mushy. It was just like a restaurant, other then we had to heat it up ourselves in our toaster oven. The dishes come in tin containers. This is not a place I can shop in regularly, but when I can it's a treat.

The place had a farmers market/Sprouts kind of feel and carried predominantly organic produce. They have almost every type of product but maybe only 1-2 brands for each. I liked that there were many plant-based options, from cream cheese to frozen meals or sweets, but I was disappointed that they specifically didn't have nondairy yogurt which is one of my go-to's for breakfast. Almost everything is organic, and the price reflects that; a regular 15oz can of tomato sauce was $4. Besides that, it seems like a safe and convenient place to shop with their wide selections. The staff member helping at check-out was also very friendly.

But there's a reason for my continued patronage at this store: it slashes my grocery budget by at least 50 percent, if not more. It makes a big difference during these inflationary times. I used to stick with packaged goods, but in more recent years I've also been getting as much produce as possible at this GO. It's quite a bit less than at the other grocery store I often frequent, a family-run business in the Dimond district. It's not hard to find quality produce here, and they have a respectable amount of organics. The one thing that keeps me from giving this store a full five stars is the fact that they allow signature gatherers to set up shop by the front door, and these people thrust their their damn clipboards and pens in your face when you try to walk in. Today, when I politely declined to fork over my signature, the woman told me, "You should try to give a hoot about this," which was quite annoying. I'm not going to put my signature on something I haven't researched beforehand. These things are not always what they seem to be. In any case, I go to Grocery Outlet to do my shopping, not to debate ballot initiatives with people I do not know, and certainly not to be shamed by them when I don't give them what they want. I really, really wish the GO would not allow these signature gatherers to harass their customers, who are not there to engage in political discussions. In fact, I wish they wouldn't allow these people on the property AT ALL.
