Foodism Catering's truck stopped out in front of my place of business and seemed like it was just the ticket. Placed an order for chicken tenders and fries only to receive a sorry pile of "food" burning through a styrofoam plate. The fries were mostly edible but the tenders swept me down memory lane to elementary school lunchtime. McDonalds can serve real meat chicken for pennies, yet this place can get away with selling six pieces of fluffy, mystery meat nuggets masquerading as tenders for $10?!? They even managed to burn the hell out of whatever form of protein/cardboard they are currently hawking out of the back of this truck. Post script - a coworker ordered the nachos and was equally unimpressed as the chicken was covered in the unmistakable smell of sea food. Nice. read more

Sigh..I try to avoid places with mediocre reviews, but I was short on time and this truck was right outside my office. I ended up getting nacho with pulled pork and green salsa, and I was not satisfied at all. Portion was good, but the proportion was quite bad. I never thought i would ever dislike a dish with too much meat, but this place completely overloaded on the pork, with little tomatoes and onions. Cheese was sufficient, but the nachos probably would have been better with more ingredients. Also, the salsa was quite nonexistent (or maybe the pork covered all the tasted). For $13, i would not say it was worth- service was pretty fast though. read more

I've been straight up slapped with deliciousness. This unassuming truck manned by a golden haired, chilled out surfer dude blew my expectations out of the water. The theme is very Cali, with a focus on seafood, some Mexican, with heavy emphasis on fresh tasting ingredients. Although I initially balked at the prices (8-10 per entree), I realize it's cause he serves up huge portions of quality food. The Hawaiian poke was a sriracha mayo poke with ginger, onions, cucumber, tomato on a bed of al dente white and red rices. The flavor profile was bright, spicy, sweet. The texture of the rice and vegetables really contrasted with the ahi tuna and kept the meal interesting. I also got the carne asada nachos. This thing is HUGE. Enough for two hungry guys. The meat is tender and flavorful. The cart has a big selection of hot sauces and free tortilla chips, as well as sodas, coconut juice, etc. Definitely trying this place again soon. read more

Tried Foodism food truck for the first time today. I was very excited to see healthy options in their menu, compared to all the other food trucks. However, I must say I was quite disappointed. Started with a 45 minute wait to order and get our food and the line wasn't even that long. We ordered a Cajun seabass with rice and veggies, Cajun chicken burrito a seasoned fries. All three items were insanely salty and spicy, and not good spicy. There was no flavor, just heat. Don't get me wrong, we love spicy food but the spice cannot overpower the entire flavor. They have a lot of potential, just need to adjust the seasoning. read more

Got the carne asada nachos. $10.90 (posted prices do not include tax). The portion was enough for three people. HUGE. I will probably eat the rest for dinner. I had wanted to try their Poke, but when I got to the truck I saw the price had gone up to $14. Yikes... Kind of a strange combination of things on the menu. Many burgers, then the taco truck style stuff like burritos, tacos, and nachos. Then seafood stuff like fresh fish plates and of course their poke bowl. Some of the burgers were like $14, but I didn't read closely enough to see what ingredients justified those prices. Service was quick. Next time I'll try the poke, just hope it's close to pay day. read more

Ok. Here we go. A solid 3 star review here for various reasons and I was really exicted to try this truck too. Purely for the Poke. Now, I understand being a food truck and all you have limited supply of product. Makes sense. There's only so much room but to run out of everything and to have a somewhat rude demeanor besides just completely kills it. Things to note: -they run out of ingredients for dishes. Be sure to get to the truck on the earlier side of the shift to have a wider menu selection. - no this can be special orders. Pick a dish and that's it. Food allergies, too bad. - the cook is kinda dirty... - the poke is spicy. And my co worker didn't feel great after but she has a sensitive stomach. - kinda over priced for the service but you deal. Overall, if they're around again and I feel like spending. $9-13 for lunch I'll check it out but with whole foods poke master down the street it's a harder sell. They have other island inspired dishes too but I opted for poke. read more

Why so salty?? The poke was salty, and the 5 chips they give you with your poke were coated in salt. The portions were ok, but still very pricey. If you're getting poke get the wasabi poke since it comes with avocado vs the regular poke, which would cost $18 if you add avocado (OUTRAGEOUS!). Another food truck dud. read more

This truck comes by office every week or so. We don't have many options in the neighborhood so I gave them a shot despite the high prices. As a poke lover I am inclined to get it whenever I see it on a menu. For 15$, I expected something really great - the truck also advertises itself in a way that the food looks like it might be refined. Overall, I wasn't very impressed. I'm giving this 3 stars because it looks like they put work into the presentation of the meal with cute dashes of spicy mayo and various little toppings as well as the large poke that I received, but if I was judging on quality and taste, this review would probably me more of a 2. The spicyness in the food kind of threw off the taste and there weren't very many base ingredients. My biggest complaint though was that some of the pieces of tuna were still frozen.... it wasn't many, but it was enough to leave a bad taste frozen in my mouth. read more

There's a LOT of negative reviews on here and I'm not really sure why. I'll give the break down from my experience. This truck was conveniently parked right in front of my office building, so I decided to walk on over. I saw maybe 3-5 people waiting for their food. I looked at the menu and was shocked to see that all the items on the menu are about $3-7 more than what it would normally cost at a brick and mortar. Regardless, it was that or walk further out to get food. Right underneath the order window was a small whiteboard with the words "Bacon Cheeseburger w/ Fries - $14" I thought this was pretty darn expensive, but I gave it a go! Comes with a LARGE juicy meat patty perfectly seasoned (salt and pepper), SIX bacon strips, cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce (SO good) lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. I was shocked. It was REALLY good. I mean yes, it was $14 dollars, but this is what it would've cost me at a gourmet burger restaurant at half the size. Can I just remind you that I mentioned there were SIX bacon strips? A regular bacon burger comes with 2 strips of bacon and any additional is around $2, so think of it as a $10 bacon cheeseburger w/ fries + adding 4 extra strips of bacon. :D read more

Saw this food truck on a Melrose outside of the Fairfax high school flea market, there every Sunday! The Hawaiian Poké was AMAZING!! So much fish, perfect sauce, great ratio of tomatoes and rice and onions. Their menu had a lot of delicious sounding items and the food truck seems to have a lot of love with a long line and excited customers. As I first timer, I was pleasantly surprised to see food this fresh and delicious come out of a food truck!! Give it a try yourself. read more

I have had this truck multiple times in the past and it has always been decent, although slightly overpriced. I finally realized that the difference in price between the regular burger and the "hot and spicy" (which I have had multiple times) is $5 for a few inexpensive toppings. After mentioning it, I was told "you don't have to get it then" in a very rude manner. I decided to go with it anyways because I have always enjoyed it on past occasions. As I picked up my food I was told that I could pickup a drink 'on the house.' I originally credited this to the fact that he may have realized that he was a little over the top while ordering my food. However I quickly realized that this was most likely due to another reason. I got home and took one bite into the burger. My mouth and face lit up like I have never experienced. I am someone who can stand spicy food well above the average person. I have had their hot and spicy burger AND their ghost pepper burger (which is supposedly spicier). It was so bad that I had to run to the bathroom to throw up. The pain was practically unbearable for close to an hour. When I removed the bun from the burger I saw that they had, most likely on purpose, spread pure ghost pepper sauce all over the patty. It was not the mix that they use in the actual ghost pepper burger, but the pure concentrate. The guys working this food truck purposely sabotaged my food because I pointed out their unfair pricing scheme. I was going to return to the truck to confront them and the Fresco Community Market that recruits them, but realized that this is an easily deniable claim or could be said to have been a 'mistake.' Save yourself the trouble and avoid this truck at all costs. read more

This food truck is terrible. They run out of food constantly. It's not like it's 4pm at a food truck festival. If you don't have any food at 1pm outside of an office building during everyone's lunch hour, why even bother coming? I literally paid for something, they accepted the order, then ran out of it, but gave people who ordered after me what I ordered because their's was done first, and then told me that they "already told [me] that we don't have that." Really, then why did you charge me for it? I watched multiple people after me come up and order stuff and then get turned away because they didn't have it. Again, this was at the very beginning of lunch time. Also, enough with food trucks that have 1000 things on the menu, maybe just do a few things right and keep them in stock. If you have 1000 things on the menu and take longer than 10 mins, open a restaurant, not a food truck. read more

I cannot comment on the food...yet...but I can comment on the the menu variety, prices, and customer service. First, Kurt was super friendly and attentive (we were vendors working at the Melrose Outpost); hint hint: his truck is there every Sunday...and he came up to us and offered us a beverage and / or a snack because it was hot out (how sweet)... Next, it looked like they had a great variety on the menu and there was quite the line! I'm super excited to try the "awesome nachos" and "poke" ... We (my friend and I ) were working and were not that hungry but the water and watermelon (super cold and fresh), was such a nice touch, we will definitely be back again soon... Finally, he said goodbye to us and asked us to come back again! I highly recommend ! read more

By far my favorite food truck out there. The caveat is I'm a TRUE spicy addict and these guys are not shy about laying on the spice! If Tabasco sauce makes you sweat, you don't actually like spicy food like you claim. I don't know what Matt O.'s problem is below - he says he eats ghost pepper sauces, but he may just be thinking that because he ate a ghost pepper burrito from Taco Bell. If you order a ghost pepper burger and it's so hot that you have to puke, 1. You may be a pussy. 2. You definitely can't complain because you got what you paid for! I only ever get the spicy carne asada burrito and it's amazing. It's one of the only dishes from a food truck (or really any restaurant) that truly tests my fortitude and strength of will to finish it because they make it so hot! As I'm typing this review there are literally drops of sweat on my desk from today's burrito! If you want a gourmet type foodie experience, this isn't the truck for you. It's definitely So Cal beach bum comfort food, but unlike other trucks that just throw some pickled jalapenos in a dish and call it "spicy", then offer up tapatio or sriacha when you ask for more heat, these guys bring the fucking heat. read more

These guys come to our campus pretty regularly, once every one or two weeks. So you'd think they'd have a decent handle on the supply/demand levels, right? Wrong. They are scheduled here from 12pm. On their last visit, they had run out of burritos, pork, chicken, tuna and pastrami by 1pm. Running out of burritos is a theme and has happened the last two times before my most recent visit. When you can actually get a burrito, they're really nice, probably four stars. But it's actually astounding they keep showing up here without enough food - very few other trucks that visit here have that problem. read more

This truck stopped in front of my work building on Wilshire. I wish I could say good things about this truck, but unfortunately my pulled pork sandwich had a very long piece of hair in it which was COMPLETELY REPULSIVE. I could not eat my food after that. All i could think about was the fact that these guys have super long hair and should at least wear hair nets. I also ordered the grilled vegetables and they pretty much tasted like charcoal. What a waste of $15. read more

Found a great burger in Malibu, yesterday while driving on the PCH. Foodism chef said he used to surf this beach. We talked old school surfing, ate lunch by the ocean with an amazing view. I would have a hard time believing that the truck's owner is with these guys, as they're so unbelievably rude to customers that we all left the line, and I abandoned my order that I had already paid for, because after the confrontation I was afraid they probably would tamper with it anyway. A guy comes up and asks a simple question, "hi, does the burger come with fries?" (some items on the menu are specified to come with fries, some items don't specify. The worker responds "no, what kind of question is that? the burger comes as a burger, the fries are another option, look at the menu over there". The patient person refers back to the menu, while the worker goes back inside the truck and starts ranting to his coworkers loud and clear for every customer to overhear.. "who asks that? What kind of a question is that? does the burger come with fries.. that's like me going into a car dealership, and asking the guy hey does this car come with a trailer? what an idiot. what a dumb question". This obviously led to an uncomfortable interaction with the customer he was talking about, who was still standing three feet away. read more

Possibly my least favorite food truck in LA. I feel it's mediocre at best food at what I consider to be not a great price.

The 3 star rating of this seems to be spot on. It's... Ok. The main issue with food trucks is that you have to feel like you're getting something special, the selection is pared down to food that can be done well - not a diner in a truck. This seems to be the latter. They have cheeseburgers, roast beef sandwiches, poke and ceviche. There's something about that that makes me not trust it. The cheeseburger was pretty good and rather large. My friend had the poke which was also a large portion - as it should be for $14. But the prices were daunting to say the least. You can't find anything substantial for less than $10. It does the job as far as filling you up, but its image is lacking - and not in the cool way. In the questionable way. read more

Went to eat at this truck during the Great Family Day. Waited at least 20 minutes in line and then another 5 just standing at the window. Finally when we go to order, they don't even have what we ordered. I get it's at an event but if you don't have something or run out, PUT A SIGN UP! It's a family/kid event so there's A LOT of cranky hungry kids. And if you advertise your having food trucks then not everyone is going to bring their own food. So yes they were busy but they work events all the time so they should have a procedure on what to do at these things. read more

I see a lot of hater reviews of this truck; I ordered the poke bowl for lunch when I saw the truck outside my office. Big portions, delcious, and lots of tuna. They got the flavors down right. I like ginger and felt it could have used MORE ginger. The poke bowl, at $10, could feed two people. I docked a star, cause the menu signs were super ghetto. Usually I wouldn't dock stars for non-food related things, but it was super ghetto. read more

The chef obviously LOVES everything SPICY. My first time, I got the poke bowl, "not spicy" so they took out the sirracha sauce and jalapeno peppers. It was pretty good, although I was surprised there would be two sources of extreme spice in a poke bowl. My next time, I got the wasabi bowl, and I asked if it was spicy. She said "not spicy at all, unless you consider wasabi to be spicy." I do not. However, it had more than just wasabi. It had a sauce of wasabi and an extremely spicy mustard mixed in. I put the tuna and avocado into a separate bowl and rinsed them in water until there was no sauce left. Wow! Can you imagine if a Japanese restaurant served spicy mustard on something that's supposed to have wasabi? It would never happen. The hand-written sign at eye level when you order that says "add jalapenos to anything for 50 cents" should have given it away. It should be called "the spicy truck". read more

My co-workers and I normally get the poke anytime this truck parks in front of our building. One co-worker (female) always orders the poke and asks the cashier to cut the poke into smaller pieces which he happily does. Anyway, I recently went down to pick up lunch for the two of us for her birthday and she requested her usual order. When I went down to order her poke, the same cashier says, "that's not how it comes" which I then explained that it wasn't for me and that she normally gets it that way with no problem. He then says, "okay" and shakes his head while I walk away. When I get back to my office and we sit down to eat, we found that they hadn't even bothered with the request. I've had most things on their menu and the poke is by far the best, but being such an a-hole ensured that I will never come back. Don't even waste your time with this place! read more

I had the LA's Best Nachos - chicken with green sauce and was disappointed. The salsa was good but everything else was subpar.

I had peanut coconut curry chicken plate and it was delicious! They were quick and friendly! I loved all of the flavors.

I ordered the Poke, and it was just a rip off. At first when I got my food I was impressed with how much food they gave me. But as I dug into it, it was basically rice with only a little bit of fish. The whole purpose of me getting that was because I LOVE poke but there was barely any in there. The GINGER in the poke was also an issue. There was just soooo much, and if you don't like ginger like me, then I would not even dare to eat this dish. All in all, it was just a bunch of tomatoes, and other fillers to make it seem like there was so much fish in there but DO NOT BE FOOLED! and they cooked the rice with too much water. read more
