Parking lot is full but the store isn't...
    Daniel P.

Apparently there are at least four floor plans for the Lions of Food and this is the other "classic" design. Biggest difference is that wine is with beer on the other end of the store as you are heading to the checkout instead of on your left going from produce to meats. That being said the property is well kept and tidy throughout. The doors open and close as expected and the roof-windows-walls keep the weather outside where it belongs while the indoor climate stays nicely controlled. Deli case is well stocked with slice to order meats and cheese and there's plenty of packaged goods around the corner if you want to go that route. Produce selections are sufficient for my culinary skills (and occasional forays into healthy snacking) with organic options available for many items. Plenty of meat and fish available cold or frozen and you have some latitude in GMO-ness, organicity, and pasturage. The help is helpful and friendly; shelves well stocked and tidy; cases and coolers are clean. The cashiers step up to help unload your shopping cart and remind you to thing your card and save some cash. Not much to complain about here.

If you're from New England - it's kind of like a smaller Shaw's.

Harris Teeter, depending on the neighborhood they served, varied somewhat. This is one of the more upscale ones serving a rather upscale area. That said, with a lot of competition, they have one of the lowest price structures in the Harris Teeter chain, This is particulary true if you use their loyalty card call a VIC card. The deal with Kroger was only consumated back in May but already, things have changed. A large number of items have had their price reduced and Kroger/Harris Teeter is making a statement that they are going to be competitive in the long run. That said, we have been shopping at this store since it opened probably 15 years ago. Selection is excellent and the staff is great. If they are out of something or you can't find something within the store, they make sure it is on the next truck and if not a normal item, will pass on the request to the pertainent buyers. The pharmacy staff is also excellent and have been responsive to every need. One more point and that is they just finished a store removation and now they offer a lot more from an in house deli, breakfast bar, pizza bar, salad bar etc. Only thing missing is a place to eat it, otherwise you have to take it out.

The decline in food quality and inattentive service have removed this restaurant from our rotation.

They're PACKED on Wednesday nights because it's wine night so if you're coming for just food I would avoid Wednesdays. Their servers are all so friendly and great at making recommendations. I've liked everything I've ordered here except for Salmon -- so I would just stick to steak in the future. Even their coleslaw is amazing! We've come several times and have always been pleased. Prices are great, it's nice to be able to go somewhere for a nice steak but it's still in a casual environment.

None of the sandwiches I've tried have blown me away. Theyre not bad, but not memorable. Limited selection in the prepared foods counter. Service is okay. The people who take your order are friendly but the woman who checked me out kinda wasn't. For an Italian deli (and I'm Italian with high expectations) this is a no from me.

Find another case with a variety of steaks ready to be cut - ribeye and NY strip were just a few examples. The cases have oils and spices to enhance your cooking. At lunchtime on Saturday there was a line to order sandwiches but it moved pretty quickly. The meats, peppers, seasoning, and bread far surpass anything you'd get at a chain sub shop. Half a sandwich filled me up which meant I got to enjoy the rest for lunch the next day. Between cold cuts, paninis, and hot sandwiches there are a variety of sandwich options. Grab one of the tables inside or sit at a table on the sidewalk on a nice day and enjoy a great lunch at Ferrucci's.
