Best homemade fried chicken we had. My wife and I were on our way home from Norfolk, VA to…read moreBaltimore and we found this hidden gem (market/deli) through Yelp reviews. Ladies cooking the chicken were moms and grandmas. We got bake apples, coleslaw and potato wedges, along with a 20 piece chicken. Excellent dinner. Plus being a market they had cold A&W diet root beers in bottles for us. They also had other cold beverages available, including beer. Recommend this place for families. A park with picnic tables in nearby, next to post office.

This review is for the fried chicken ONLY. The rest of the food in the counter looks just fine, but…read moreI've never had it. Hometown Pride, a seemingly modest country store, hides a wonderful secret. This place has, bar none, the best fried chicken you will ever have in your life. Dead serious. I live in Washington DC, but whenever I'm on the Shore visiting the parents I order a 20 piece to take home back with me. I have no idea what those ladies behind the counter do their poultry, but it's pure magic. Salty and crispy and reheats really well in the oven. I've eaten at most of the upscale-country places here in DC and none of them hold a candle to the fried chicken at Hometown Pride. If you're passing through the Shore on 50 and can make a 15 minute detour to East New Market, do yourself a favor and grab some of their chicken. You will not be sorry. Also, for some reason the Yelp map puts this place in Secretary, which is way off. Use Google Maps or something else instead.

Wow! This place is a straight up banger, 10/10! I ordered the gyro and fries and was expecting just…read morea normal, run-of-the-mill gyro but was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. Fresh ingredients, perfect level of heat and PACKED with flavor. The pita was cooked perfectly, and the lamb was both tender and flavorful. It's been a long time since I've had a gyro this good. The guys behind the counter were super polite and cool and the whole establishment was very clean and neat. Plenty of parking as well. I will be returning again and again if the food is this great. A++++++++ across the board.

Good is pretty good in taste but prices are unreasonable. Now I hated the former owner of the…read moreestablishment but the new owners that remade it into a Halal place aren't squeaky clean. They give cans of soda instead of cups, despite there still being the old soda fountain from before. The prices are higher for the food than it is on the menu. The gyros went from $9.99 to 10.99. I mean I felt like I could tolerate them being $10, but they're not worth more than that. I think they weren't worth kore than $8 if I am being honest. The halal over rice was on the board for $11.99 but I got charged $12.99. They don't let you eat in there despite there being a dine in area in it. I feel like the $6 for the fries appetizer was a bit too much. Also the fries seasoning on the table looked filthy and unsanitary. I meant to do this review days back. Though unfortunately I live on a budget so eating out is more of a luxury so prices may not matter much to someone on a higher income.
