Updating my decade-old review: Foo Luck has had mixed quality in the past year, despite being so consistently great in the beforetimes. Not sure what happened after Covid but some quality tightening would go a long way! Their standard chicken & broccoli is still the best in the area for the taste and portion, and their hot and sour soup is unrivaled, particularly the broth. But sometimes the chicken has come in a weirdly colored sauce or a tougher consistency. Their sushi station has declined in the past several years--they weren't able to reliably fill sushi orders for a while--and recovered. It's still my favorite Chinese food in the area but I'm hopeful that some quality control fixes would make it even better. read more

This is my favorite Chinese take-out place! My fam and I get excited for Chinese night every week knowing that we're going to put an order in at Foo Luck. It's my strong belief that any Chinese take-out place can be assessed on its delivery of the staples - and the chicken and broccoli here does not disappoint. The hot and sour soup is UNMATCHED by any H&S in the northeast. It's delicious. Thick, spicy, flavorful. I don't know how they do it, but damn, do they ever do it!!!!! Please be very careful when ordering from this restaurant me and my family ordered a huge order tonight and we found two roaches in the soup. The other night they had forgotten our ribs and refused to give us a refund or offer us the forgotten food. But after tonight, we will never eat Chinese food again and we will be alerting the health department first thing in the morning. read more

This place used to be better but I've decided not to go back mainly because the meat inside the wontons is always black.

Food is not all that good but what really turned me off to them is that they twice ripped my family off on gift cards . They were taking the full amount of gift card on partial purchases and would not correct their errors claiming there was no record of gift cards.so I left 45$worth of food on their counter. My co-worker and I got the hunan beef lunch special yesterday. Good lord it was awful. 3 bites in and I threw it away. It didn't look right - it looked like really cheap meet (I truly hope it was meet but we are questioning it) that looked like it was pounded thing with a mallet and it tasted like a meet/fish mixture which made no sense. I've been coming here since I was a kid and it used to be really great. Now when you go it's really hit or miss, which is sad. Most of the time the boneless spareribs are burnt even when you've requested that they aren't so well done. One thing that's great is they serve the lunch special everyday of the week. Most Chinese restaurants don't offer the lunch special on weekends and this sets Foo Luck apart from the rest. I ordered pickup from here today and there were a lot less boneless spareribs than they normally give with the lunch special and they didn't drain the grease so my rice was a bit soggy. I love their wonton soup, it's always consistent with the taste. I'm hoping they step their game back up because I know the potential of this takeout spot. read more

Well, this afternoon's dinner changes some of that. Standard takeout from Foo Luck in Commack. Hot and sour soup, egg roll, shrimp w lobster sauce and pork fried rice - yum. My first problem was no noodles for the soup. Annoying but no big deal. The real problem came a few minutes later. Something hard in the shrimp dish. Oh well, probably just a shell. Oh no, it was someone's fingernail. Kinda made me lose my appetite after that discovery and the rest of the food went directly into the garbage. So, why the 2 stars? Listen, this is not the best Chinese food I've ever had but when you give them special instructions, they follow them they're very friendly when you call and the food is very good when you sit down to eat it's a very small, quaint place not exactly a romantic spot but again the food is very good and so is the service. I've never been so dissatisfied with a delivery order as much as I was tonight. The main component of the dish we ordered (pork chow mein) the noodles were missing from the bag. I called and let them know that our order was incomplete and they realized they had left the noodles out. At this point we had started eating as it was the first meal we were having all day after work and they proceed to tell us that they wouldn't be able to get my noodles to me because they didn't know when the driver was going to be back and they would just give me the noodles next time I went, assuming I would be going back or ever ordering this meal again. I said it was my first time trying the dish from their restaurant and honestly didn't want to count on "maybe" ordering it next time and I paid for the full dish. I asked for a partial refund and they said the only way they could do the refund is if they got the food back. Finding this repulsive I explained that I didn't know if I'd ever even order this dish again and i wanted what i paid for. Then a woman gets on the phone and starts telling me that i needed to understand that they were trying to fix the problem by offering me noodles next time, waiting half an hour for the driver to bring them, or she could do an egg roll next time instead (as if thats the same value as the meal i had just purchased). Attached is a picture of the order of "NOODLES" they say is supposed to go in this dish. IvI am appalled. I've worked in the restaurant industry for a while now and If a to go order is EVER messed up we make sure the guest receives proper compensation back and refund them for the value of whatever is messed up. In my experience, when ordering from a Chinese restaurant, you know how much food to expect at a certain price point. So, when I saw such a low price next to a classic like Beef with Brocolli, I assumed it was a smaller portion. They do mention Pint or Quart, but I was worried it wouldn't be enough food so I went with a Quart for every entree ordered, for 4 people. I threw in some lo mein and fried rice and called it a day. The bill came to about $60 which is really reasonable. But when my boyfriend came out with this box filled with our food as well as 2 Quart sized wonton soups, I protested! "They got the order wrong! There pork fried rice is one of the Best I have ever had as well as their egg rolls and fried dumplings!! Theit egg rolls alone can be a meal itself, they are huge and delicious! The portion of rice in a large is massive and soo good! However, I am not a fan at all of their chicken dishes, the meat is very chewy and weird. I've been here many times over the years, and usually have a decent experience. Today, however, was different. We ordered take out since they wouldn't deliver to my house (5 minutes from there). Five minutes later, called back and added a few things onto the order. Got to the place after the time they told us it would be ready and still had to wait. Once we got home, we realized that they had completely forgotten about the added on items. But when we called to ask, they just told us it wasn't in the system. It is Saturday night, but why have staff who can't take orders at all answer the phone? And they didn't offer to remake it or even apologize for their error and lack of attention. And the worst part was the food. Egg rolls were soggy and chewy, basically inedible. Chicken and eggplant was swimming in sauce. Wontons were rubbery and just tasted ... off. Chicken rice soup - can't mess that up, right? Wrong. I got a pint of rice with two slivers of chicken and barely any broth at all. The poor quality of the food can be forgiven, but the bad attitude and inattentive staff lost them some customers tonight. read more
