Nick arrived to provide an estimate for a repaint of a number of interior walls and trim, and to address a peeling paint problem on a bathroom ceiling painted by a different company, a few years ago. It wasn't resisting the high moisture environment created by the shower with marginal venting. Initially, what sold me on Nick, and Gibson & Son Painting, was Nick's manners and respect for my home. Before setting foot inside the front door, he removed his shoes. I hadn't said a word about it, and the floors that can be seen from where he stood are rustic slate (not carpeting). I had a couple of other painting contractors provide estimates previously. But none had demonstrated anything close to that kind of courtesy. A small thing, perhaps. But as it turned out, just a sample of good things to come, and of how he and his crew operate. Speaking of which, all members are exceptional in their own right. Also, Nick's attention to the details of the job, as we went over the scope of work, and his extensive knowledge of how to address potential problems, impressed me. He closely examined surfaces and their existing paint to determine the appropriate approach to achieve the best results. Again, something that separated him from the other painting contractors bidding on the job. Nick's estimate was provided to me promptly, and was described in great detail. Of the three bids I received, his was not the least expensive. However, the confidence that Nick instilled in me through his diligence in defining the job, as well as his respectful, personable manner, made the choice easy. The work was done with a great attitude. Great team. Nice people! The communication to coordinate the work and the general process was excellent. First off I had written…read morea review approximately 10 months ago, which was a good review for some " Handyman work" Florberto had done for us. I do not doubt that he is a good handyman. The problem I had was when Florberto was here he had pointed out to me the rotting wood around the exterior front window of our home and that he could fix it. Being naïve that I was and not realizing that a license contractor should do a job like this i hired him. A few days went by when he was here and I noticed sheet rock chunks breaking off of the interior wall because of all the hard pounding he was doing which was concerning. I ordered a window (per his advice) to replace the one around the wood rot and he told me to call him when the window comes in so I assumed he had finished what he could do until that time. About a day later, I had another Handyman come to put up a barn door and he pointed out to me that I was going to have a huge problem because it was in the forecast to rain for the next five days and he showed me the open spaces all around the window where the wood rot had been. I found out that Florberto had taken some of the wood rot off and left everything completely exposed and with the rain coming it was going to be soaking into the interior walls and cause even more damaged than there was before. I was shocked that he left everything unfinished. I ended up having to hire, which I should've done in the first place a licensed contracting company who had to take everything that he had done off because it was done incorrectly, and correct his mistakes and then do the job. It cost me $9000 which because of the rain there was only so much we could do to protect the exposed openings all around the window until the contractors could start. This was a big lesson for me and Florberto should never have started something that first off he is not licensed to do and I believe he got in way over his head.If he would have just been honest with me and let me know that we needed to get somebody to fix everything it would've definitely saved me some money and stress. I have posted some photos of how he left the job. Luckily, I had not paid him much even though I not realizing until the contractors got here how poorly the work he did was.

Asked Oscar to repair a small retaining wall next to the driveway that had a short bulging section…read morecaused by tree roots. In addition, fix the broken concrete at the driveway curb. The fix for the wall was to dig out the soil next to the bowed section, cut back the roots and push the section back into alignment with the rest of the wall, then backfill the dirt. This was in lieu of rebuilding the wall section using new but mismatching cinder blocks. The curb fix involved breaking out the old concrete and replacing with two large rubber curb ramps. The final result ended up very good as can be seen in the photos. There were some snags along the way so this should be a 4.5 star review. Any customer should work closely with Oscar and any hired subcontractor and be present on site or check frequently while the work is being done.

They originally installed the drainage PVC pipe way too high and piled the dirt to high up on the side of the wall so moisture and water was leaking into the house causing wood floors to buckle.
