Hollister Roofing - Re-Roof with composition shingles

Hollister Roofing

(11 reviews)

This was our second roof with Hollister Roofing (HRI). We wanted to go with a local business. Our…read morefirst experience with HRI was the roof on our newly built workshop. It was so good we called HRI when our home needed a new roof. Owner, Barry Perdue picked up when we called about getting an estimate. He made appointment to come to our home. He was on time and he delivered the detailed estimate as promised. The estimate was reasonable and offered us several choices. There was no upselling or pushing us into something we didn't want. We did experience that with another company last year. I finally had to tell them to stop calling us. The crew came out the morning of the scheduled tear off and got to work. They were hard working, efficient and respectful of us and our property. They showed up every morning at the same time. Everything was done as expected because we were informed about the process. They actually finished a half day early. Our roof looks great and our front and back yards look great because they clean up as they go. If not for the new roof I wouldn't know they had been here. They did our neighbor's roof too, and it also looks great. Barry Perdue has assembled a great crew and runs a reliable and reputable company. He cares about his product and his reputation. Barry is friendly, knowledgeable, thorough and on top of his jobs and schedule. He will update you as necessary. His fees are reasonable. Jose was in charge of the jobsite at our home. He was absolutely professional, as was the entire crew, and he was the last to leave our home yesterday upon completion. We recommend Hollister Roofing to anyone that needs a roof. We couldn't be happier about the look of the finished roof and the process. So relived it's done and happy it was done by a reputable company like Hollister Roofing. They never gave us a moment of stress or worry.

I had recently called Barry (the owner) because we had a leak around our chimney during the recent…read morerain storm. Our roof is just under 7 years old, and I found the original contract and invoice and thought maybe he could do the repair. A 7 year old roof should not be leaking if things were done correctly. The first initial phone call with Barry wasn't very friendly on his part, just seemed as though he had an attitude right off the bat. Barry calls me and advises me that he is on his way to my house. I promptly leave work and meet him there, I work two mins from home. Before I had gotten there he was already on my roof. I get out of my car about to introduce myself and he walks to the edge of the roof and says "send me those pictures you were talking about", I said okay Ill send them now. Now if Barry was any kind of professional, he would have waited for me to get home before going up on my roof. He is now walking around and shouts down " who put this tarp up here and put all these holes in your roof??" I said my Dad put the tarp up because he rain was leaking into our house. There were no holes in the roof. The nails were too short. He shouts down again, "well where is the leak you are talking about!?" I replied with "under the tarp" - "well I'm not going to look under there!" I said well would you like me to move the tarp for you? He replied with I don't even have any tools! Then huffs and puffs and said find, I'll look. He tells me he sees where the problem is. Back tracking a bit I had another roofer take a look as well, and there was a shingle that was placed incorrectly and the caulking was not done. He comes down from the roof and I asked if he could fix it. He said "well no I'm not gonna fix if it I didn't do anything wrong. If I did then I would fix it, I didn't do you can take me to court." He mentioned that the previous owner didn't like to spend a lot of money and didn't want to replace the flashing. He left and I reviewed the original invoice and contract and called Barry to let him know of this, he quickly said "oh does it say that?" If I messed it up I'll fix it, can you email that to me. So I did. No response, and with the rains coming again I was trying to get this repaired as quickly as possible. I sent a simple text message asking if he had gotten my email and asked if he could respond. Still nothing, I asked him to reply by the end of the day/ next business day. Here was his response- "OK I was going to maybe work with you but now since you're so pushy I'm gonna stick with my original thing my contract in between Mr. Goldsmith and I has nothing to do with you it's been seven years you guys put 50 nail holes around the work and that's it call my attorney BILL TIFFANY" I didn't appreciate Barry's ability to communicate or conduct business, he is completely rude and unprofessional. And after my post.. see photo. Real professional.

A long overdue review, just never got to it. We bought our house in October 2019 and Chad did the…read moreroof inspection. Just some minor things which we were going to get around to after moving in. One of them was a bad seal around a vent stack with some visible water stains on the hall ceiling just beneath it. I contacted him after we moved in about fixing them and getting a new roof quote as it had ran out of useful life at 23 plus years old, but he had already re-sealed/caulked the vent stack when he inspected it originally! How cool is that? Asked for and got the re-roofing quote in late Feb 2020, said let me know when he can schedule it. He called back the next day and said he just had a reschedule on another job and could start ours in 2 days, I said sure. Work was completed the following week and we had a watertight roof. Fast forward to early 2021, a small piece of roofing on the facia overhang fell off, he and his guy fixed it nicely. We had Chad install two sun tunnels that really allowed lots of light into dark rooms. Several months ago one of the flexible light tubes came loose from the roof mount, making the room dark again. Chad's foreman fixed it quickly and all is good. Why only 4 stars? The permit for the roof took a year to get. Much of that is due to Covid restrictions immediately after the roof was completed. Some due to poor communication. But I would highly recommend Chad for your roofing needs if you're looking repairs or replacement.

Ive known of Chad's Roofing for many years because he's been number one roofer in Gilroy for many years. And after I had him and his team replace my roof, I know why. They are clean, quick, polite and highly skilled. There is no doubt that if you use this company, you will be 100% satisfied. Thanks Chad
