I started coming here close to mid-way through my first pregnancy. I had never had chiropractic treatment before, but I developed this horrible pain around that time, so bad that it sent me to urgent care. Thankfully, there was nothing "really" wrong with me or the baby, but it still hurt. So Google (and my insurance) came through, and I found Focus Chiropractic. At the time, I was having issues scheduling with Dr. Kolleen due to my work schedule, but I was able to meet with Dr. Richard on my first visit and throughout my pregnancy (I was also treated by Dr. Kolleen a couple of times). Dr. Richard would always explain things to me to ease my anxieties about trying treatments for the first time. The entire office is warm and friendly for families, and I remember receiving cards from them in the mail on multiple occasions. The place is also clean and modern-looking. The first visit was an hour, and each subsequent one was about half an hour. I started to look forward to my visits, because they would make me feel better for a few days... i.e., pretty much as long as anything can be comfortable during all the changes during pregnancy. After I gave birth, I came back with my baby, and I received some tips on how to soothe him. This place isn't just for pre-natal care. I wish I had found this place when I was running long distances and injuring myself all the time. I came in when I was about 23 weeks pregnant and having extreme lower back pain and some numbness on the sides of my legs. Dr. Richard was very patient and careful with me and was extremely thorough about explaining everything and how my body was changing. I was sore the next day after the appointment, but by the 2nd day my pain was almost completely gone. I've also had no more numbness in my legs. I've gone back in for a follow up adjustment which has again already helped a great deal. I will definitely be going back and would recommend them! I had never been to a chiropractor, but at my eighth month of pregnancy, i could hardly walk because of sciatica and other painful pregnancy-related symptoms. After my first visit i had a marked difference. My pain had diminished and i could walk better. I kept going and i believe the treatment helped me with my birth! I've been a loyal customer for a few years now and realized I never wrote a review for this chiropractic business. Richard and his wife are both very patient and understanding of all their customers adjustments. I've had numerous adjustments for my lower back and shoulders and they always do a great job. They also specialize in adjustments for expecting moms and little infants as well. They will never try to sell you any other additional stuff (unless they feel you really need it) and they take insurance. Keep up the great work Richard and Kolleen!!! read more

Dr. Kolleen is wonderful. I was 36 weeks pregnant with my first when I started seeing her and she really helped get rid of tight muscles in my glutes, lower back pain, and relieved swelling my in feet. This last month of pregnancy is going pretty comfortably and I attribute it to the work she has done on my muscles, lymphatic system, and spine. She is friendly, easy to talk to, and her bedside manner is very caring. Then, when my husband was 30 mins late picking me up and I was just waiting outside, I was welcomed to stay and wait in the office and offered snacks from her personal stash because she empathized with my being pregnant and hungry. I really appreciated the above-and-beyond care! Her husband, Dr. Richard, was great too. He gave my husband the free consultation that they offer to family members, and spoke to him in detail about what my husband needed to do at home for himself, but also for me! Dr. Richard took the time to lead him through iliac compression to help open my pelvis and taught him how to rub my feet :) I think Dr. Richard was so knowledgeable that my husband, who was originally suspicious about chiropractics, actually made another appointment for himself! I also appreciate the way they don't rush through treatment and really make me feel cared for, which is what I'm needing at this stage in the pregnancy. I absolutely love the team at Focus Chiropractic. I know some people are a bit doubtful about chiropractic care; I've had my share of bad ones. The ones who only put you on an electrical shock machine and crack the heck out of you, making you feel worse then you did when you walked in but it is the complete opposite at Focus. Dr. Richard and Dr. Kolleen are just incredible! They are both very thorough in explaining the cause of your pain and educating you about chiropractic care, so patient answering questions. I started seeing Dr. Richard a few years ago who helped with my constant headaches and neck pain. It was such a relief finally knowing the cause of my pain and finding the right treatment for it. When I became pregnant last year, I stared seeing Dr. Kolleen, who is specialized in pregnancy and child care. I saw her throughout my pregnancy; she helped alleviate my lower back pain. Post pregnancy, she is helping me with all the new aches and pains that follows child birth and carrying a 15lb baby around all day. I have also taken my baby to see her, she is great with kids. We came here because of the Yelp reviews and our experience exceeded our expectations! Dr. Kolleen is incredibly kind, thoughtful, patient, and professional. For weeks we struggled with our newborn's inability to breastfeed and within one visit with her, he latched for the very first time for 20 minutes! And after subsequent visits, he has become a much happier, more calm baby. I now tell all of my friends that she is a miracle worker :) She is so gentle with him and one thing I love is she tells you exactly what she's doing and always makes sure you're comfortable. I started seeing Dr Kolleen when I was 30 weeks pregnant. I was in so much pain I was having a hard time walking. After my first adjustment, I was pain free. Amazing!! I'm 24 weeks pregnant andsaw Dr. Kolleen today. I've been having pretty intense and chronic lower back pain and sacrum pain since very early on and finally decided to try prenatal chiropractic services. Dr. Kolleen not only explained everything she was doing to help me understand why I was feeling pain in certain areas, but she alleviated so much of my pain in my lower back and pelvic region. I started going here late in my pregnancy for aches and pains and I would see Dr. Richard, who was extremely patient and considerate. He was good about following up, and very knowledgeable about pregnancy and labor. They treat each patient as an individual and have your health and wellbeing in mind. They take the time to explain what they are doing and what you can do to help at home. They have a little kids corner so I can come with my children and get adjusted in the same room while they play in the room. It's a very comfortable and welcoming environment. I started going when I needed an adjustment to make room for my breech baby to flip (it worked!) and the following pregnancy to help with a rib bone that kept popping out from the baby (only relief I could get!) and with my third pregnancy to keep everything aligned and in place for a smooth pregnancy and delivery, (both went perfectly well). Let me start by saying that I am only two adjustments in and I am feeling amazing. I have suffered from sciatica for nearly a year. I've tried acupuncture, acupressure, pain medications, physical therapy and good ole' prayer to get rid of this constant pain. I was referred to Focus Chiropractic by a friend and thought what have I got go lose. After a thorough exam by Dr. Kolleen she figured out what was causing the pain in my lower back and legs. She also found an issue in my neck, upper back and TMJ. She asked for the green light to perform the necessary adjustments, which can seem scary from all the popping and cracking sounds....but that's normal and you almost look forward to hearing it cause you know you are actually being adjusted. After my first visit, I was a little sore, as she told me to expect. The TMJ and neck adjustment cured my headache problem. It's been a month since I've had a take any advil. I was taking 3 pills twice a day for months. There is still some pain in my lower back and legs from the sciatica but rest assured I know complete relief is inevitable. The doctors at Focus are knowledgeable, caring and extremely supportive. Believe me, I know there are chiropractors all over LA, especially closer to my home, but it's worth driving 20 miles to Focus for the level of care received. I discovered this office through a friend who went and I'm so happy to have found them. Richard and Kolleen are awesome! I went to see them once a month throughout my pregnancy. Kolleen is very knowledgeable about the body. I found the treatment so relaxing and really looked forward to going. The office is a family practice and they encourage you to bring your kids. This is my second pregnancy with Kolleen and I cannot say enough about how much she and Richard help!!! Low back stiffness and pain really become a problem for me by the second trimester but having regular adjustments makes a huge difference.
