I came to FMS with new exhaust system for my Genesis G80. The new exhaust made exactly for this car. So I needed just remove stock exhaust and install the new one. Pretty easy. The stock exhaust has a single end but the new one has a dual ends. All was needed is remove stock tips which screwed with 2 screws from the bumper diffuser to make a new exhaust fit to the holes. But the guy from FMS Performance said he doesn't make body work and that I need to go and find someone else‍‍. I told him that it is not a body work, needs only remove two small parts and I can do it myself, it takes a couple minutes to unscrew, but he didn't even listen and ran away... As I understood from his behavior, this guy doesnt want to work with the exhaust system, unless you buy it from him and if you bought the exhaust system somewhere else instead ... Ok, one star for helpless old rude man! read more

I haven't seen many recent reviews on FMS, so I decided that i'd come on here and support. FMS is amazing. Straight up. I've now brought 2 of my cars here to get exhaust mods on it. Although it may seem like he has an attitude, I love it because he gets straight to the point and gets things done quick and easy. He is very reasonable with the prices, and is very easy to schedule with as well. For the exhaust, both of my cars came out sounding completely different. I had my first car done about a year and a half ago and I have had absolutely no problems with it since. I just got my camaros exhaust done, and it sounds insane. This is going to be a very long review but please read before you go to this shop. I came here because a neighbor reccomended this place. I took a chance and came here to replace a cadilac converter. Tom told me he would charge a little over 600. Which i said great do it. The first thing that bothered me was he would let me wait in his shop to wait for my car but also im very sure he didnt test drive my car before he put in the cat. If he had he wouldve known that my car was runnning lean which indicates therebvb is a problem before you put in a new cat to figure out why the car is running lean. After replacing this fhe next day i found out that there was an air leak from another muffler shop . The muffler shop told me that the air leak was coming from a small gap between the flange and flare. So they had to fix this. Something that fms motor sport should have looked at and double checked thier work. So i found out after spending about 1000 after doing work on my vehicle that the air leak and my car running lean has damaged the cat. When i expressed this to this shop he did exactly what i thought he would do deny deny deny and blame me for ruuining this myself because he doesnt want to take any responsibility. So its left me no choice than to report him to bereu of automotive repair. I tried very hard for him to do the right thing but he has not and his mistake has cost me a lot of money. Mike is the sole owner/operator of this business. I had him install a bull bar on my Toyota Tacoma a few year's ago and just recently change out the entire factory exhaust on my 2019 Dodge Challenger. He does excellent work at fair and reasonable prices. I've always found him to be pleasant and accommodating. It appears some reviewer's find his personality off putting. If you're more concerned about personality than the quality of the work being done than perhaps Mike isn't the guy for you. Yes, he doesn't beat around the bush, however, I find his honest, forthright approach a breath of fresh air. Far too many of his competitor's shops are staffed by very young, inexperienced employees who don't have a clue what they're selling much less how to properly install it. One bit of advice; I've found it's much easier in discussing a job, setting up an appointment, etc., if you drop in during normal business hours and talk to Mike directly. As he runs a one man shop, I know he appreciates not having to take time away from work and answer the phone. If you've never had the opportunity to use the services of FMS Performance I thoroughly recommend doing so. read more

Recently I had work done to replace the front Catalytic Convertors by Mike. A couple days later the engine light came on. I had to cancel a trip to LA for work. It also was going through gas like crazy. I went back to Mike and with a great deal of attitude, he read the engine codes, said it had nothing to do with him...refused to even look for the problem. I took it to a repair shop, J&E Automotive, and they found an obvious issue. It was super shoddy work. 1) a pipe connection was leaking and needed welding causing the back oxygen sensors to fail on one side. 2) it was due to the bolts not being done properly. 3) the connevtions should have been checked and welded tight before the car was turned back to me. When I called Mike back with that information he again had a bad attitude and claimed the issue wasn't due to him. John the owner of J&E called FMS and demanded they fix it. When I got there I has to listen to a 10 minute tirade by Mike before he reluctantly fixed both issues. I hope. J&E helped even afterward to reset the engine light. Who cares that much? Thank you J&E it wouldn't have been made right without you! One thing that particularly irked me besides the horrendous customer service and lies by FMS, is that I am a 10 year Air Force Veteran. Mike, who is not a Veteran, uses the flag, military, patriotic thing to cover up his behavior. He certainly really isn't into serving Vets. We had that discussion and was aware of my service when I went in their the first time. I haven't been treated this disrespectful by anyone in a long time. It's pretty clear what counted is that I was a woman to be taken advantage of. I lost another days work and $100 to have the engine checked out by J&E. No offer of course to make things right. What was his excuse? Oh Nissans aren't that great and it unfortunately cracked the connection after you left. read more

When I arrive an older gentlemen with blue eyes treats me very rudely and says he would maybe look in an hour, asks me to hand over my keys. Let me just say ive never written a single review. Thats how much this place got to me. Customer service wasnt very bad iwill be honest. I also cant say that the parts werent installed right. It would have been nice however if they were the RIGHT parts! What was installed in my truck was completely not at all what i asked for. When i told the person in charge he explained that i would have to pay a restocking fee, more labor fees along with a shipping fee if i wanted to exchange the merchandise! Later I researched the model # of what i perchased and found it through the exact brand for $295.00 cheaper i mean i understand a mark up but he told me he was hookin me up with a great deal. I called back and explained my frustration he said he would try to work something out and call me right back. Needless to say i did not get that phone call. I guess on my part i should have done my research a little better and further more i guess i shouldnt have trusted a mechanic that seemed honest. Last time i make this mistake!!! read more

My BMW X3 needed major repairs and we were having trouble finding someone in Orange County who could replace its catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. All the mechanics either refused to install aftermarket parts, said the job was too difficult, or quoted us between $3000-$4000. Fortunately, we found FMS Performance in San Bernardino. All though it was a long drive from Irvine, it turned out to be worth it. Frank fixed our car up and charged just $1500 for parts and labor. We are extremely pleased. I went there for them to install an exhaust system but they have no clue what they are doing. They told me one thing but it did not make any sense. I asked about some parts and I found out I could get them cheaper somewhere else. Honestly I know a lot about cars, exhaust systems, suspension, and other parts but they have no clue what they are talking about. I would not recommend this place nor will I ever go back.
