As stressful as back to school uniform shopping can be, today we had an awesome experience. I walked in with 4 kids prepared for the worse but not only was the traffic in the store very well controlled but we were blessed with the best. Favour was not only kind and calm but he was very helpful and understanding. No matter how many times he had to go back to change the size of something or get the one we previously had, he never once complained or made me feel rushed. I had to come here to purchase school uniforms like most people who shop here. Word to the wise, order online or early before back to school shopping season begins. We waited outside in a line for about 45 minutes. Luckily it wasn't super hot yet as we came early. Also try to arrive before opening as that ensures you get in and out faster. They had an armed guard at the door controlling ingress/egress. It's the Ironbound - why they thought they needed an armed guard for a uniform store, I don't know. Upon entering the store, there were signs and lines. We entered the line nearest to the doors and waited to be helped by staff. They ask ask what school so they can pull the correct uniform paper and send you to the next line where they ask about clothing and sizing. They have multiple fitting rooms and samples you can try on. We were only at that counter for about 10 minutes due to also have my student try on their clothes. They noted the size, style and a quantity. Then they say to listen for the last four digits of your telephone number - taken at the first counter - as they will call it out loud when it's ready from the back. There is very limited seating at the capacity they were experiencing that day. We didn't have to wait more than 35 minutes and the only annoying part was that I was made to pay a shipping fee because they were out of a clothing item I needed. Most stores offer free ship to home but not this place. Also I didn't get my shipped order for well over a month after being assured by the associate it would be to be in about two weeks. In fact, I had to call the 800 number and follow up myself. I'm due to purchase some winter uniform shirts and so I'm planning to buy in person and I'll follow up my review if the experience has changed. It's not a bad store but the employees were definitely over it and I can't say I much blamed them as it was well into back to school shopping season. Overall 3.5 stars but I'm rounding to 4. The only part I didn't like was the misinformed sales associate and the incorrectly quoted shipping time. read more

I came to the Newark location and got there 5 minutes before closing mind you I had to take 2 buses there right after work. and they refused to let me in. I came here on Tuesday made it by 6:15 came Wednesday made it 5 minutes before closing. they had no sympathy for any customers at all. read more

Have been purchasing my son's school uniform from here for 3 years now and have never had a problem. They have a system that works for them. You get in line and you get checked in. Then you move to another line where they let you try on sizes and this is where you put in your order. Then you wait to get called by the last four digits of your cell phone number to pay and then you are free to go. They always have all the things I need in stock. Uniforms are pricey but, 1. For my sons school we have to get them from here. 2. Uniforms are durable. So for the price they are worth it. Yes, during the end of summer and beginning of the school years it is busy, but staff is always nice and they try to move their lines as fast as possible. I would recommend going on a weekday during the day if you can to miss the chaos. read more

I am patient and understanding. I expected a long wait. We stood, with small kids on a line for 2.5 hours, which was also expected. The frustration begins with the line being outside, in the direct sun with no shade whatsoever. Nice way to care for your customers. Then when you get inside, another line which moved rather quickly. But then you wait ANOTHER hour for over priced pants and knit shirts with a cheap silk screen ($20 for a child's knit polo? $32.00 for a pair of pants?) WITH NO ALTERATIONS. It's a TOTAL RIP OFF! The best part is the bait and switch. After paying we are informed that they don't have anything in stock and will ship in 3 weeks or so. 3 WEEKS FOR A PAIR OF PANTS IN ONE OF THE THREE COLORS THEY SELL. It's ridiculous. Time to petition the school to change suppliers. This place is terrible. I was not pleased but borderline ok until the 3 week bait and switch. We need a rating for negative stars. read more

We went several weeks before school started and were able to get our order in a reasonable amount of time. However, our second time going was the day before most of the schools started and it was horrible. (Note. As with many families, we didnt know where our child was attending school until shortly before the school year started) I expected there to be some wait due to the timing but an hour and half for one polo shirt is absolutely ridiculous. Their process is the most inefficient I have ever seen in a store. The wait to place an order was an hour alone with only about 10 people in front of me. Then another 30 minutes to pay for the shirt that they already had screen printed and ready. During most of the time they only had one person taking orders. If the person ordering wanted their child to try on anything, they didn't allow anyone else to be served. The order taker then had to refold or rehang every try on piece from that customer before going on to the next. Also, after each order was place the order taker had to walk that order to the back to be filled. Also, the prices for everything are super inflated. About $19 for a polo shirt, etc. is crazy. The fact that other Flynn stores can't fill the Newark school orders too leaves you to have no other choice either. This store should truly be ashamed that it conducts business in this way and needs to seriously re-evaluate its staffing numbers and process during such high volume times. They are doing a dis-servicd to the hard working families of Newark who at times have no choice but to buy during the back to school period. read more

This location is atrocious! Apparently according to the other people who came, I must have gone on a slow night as there was absolutely no line when I walked in at 5:30pm. Even then I had to wait over an hour for my son's uniforms when there was only 10 other people in the store! By the time we left the store it was 8:30pm.The people working there take their sweet time walking ever so slowly from the front to the back and when they're not pretending to be busy, they are cackling and fooling around with their "friends" who have come in to buy their uniforms as well (which btw get bumped to the front of the line). We also had to witness a fight between two customers with obscenities being screamed with a store full of children and it was allowed to carry on. Product of the terrible area the store is in, I assume. When I finally received them, it was just a polo with a cheaply made iron on- no embroidery, no fancy design nothing. It's obvious that it will shrivel up with the first wash I put it through. I ordered him a sweater which I was handed a patch and told that I had to STITCH IT ON MYSELF after paying almost $30 for it. on top of all this, they didn't even have everything I needed for him even though I had come 3 weeks before school started to avoid this exact issue! So they tell you they have to order and you have to come back to the store to pick it up, they wont even ship it to your house! please do yourself a favor and order your uniforms online if you can because this place is AWFUL. OH! and the parking? I got a ticket because of the poor signage in the area and there being no parking whatsoever. read more
