Wonderful experience with our 5 year old son. The staff is so friendly and horses are lovely. We cannot wait to go back.

I've switched up feed and medications and they always make sure that my horses are getting whatever is best for them. They're opening and welcoming to everyone, and the people who board here are all super nice. The barn culture is overwhelmingly friendly and everyone is always offering a helping hand. The horses are top priority, I've never even thought about moving my two anywhere else. Even as a young person, I don't think anything here is outdated or could be done in a updated manner, I spend hours at a time at the barn and I've never thought that the barn owners should change their ways - as I mentioned before the horses come first and they are all wonderfully cared for and loved. In addition there is a nice riding ring and a round pen on the property along with hours and hours worth of trails around the barn for trail riding. Some boarders complain of vet fees, though personally I've not had any sort of issues with the welfare of my animals. Maybe the reason other boarders have thousands of vet fees doesn't rest with the barn owners but their own ability to care for their horse. Also, there is no one here named Gary.

Cory and Jean possess a high level of integrity unmatched in the horse industry. Together, they strive to help strike the right balance of horse, rider and family. From our first visit to the farm, they made us feel welcome and have provided much guidance and education. Jean's background is routed in a life long passion for horses and a strong business background. She is super organized and detail oriented which I especially appreciate as the person responsible for balancing work and family commitments. Jean sets the horse show schedule a year in advance and even provides detailed estimates for budgeting if you want. The transition to Wellington each winter goes smoothly with horses and riders well taken care of. My daughter has truly grown into a better, more confident rider because of Cory. He is a phenomenal trainer, accomplished rider and role model whose strong work ethic is infectious. He is constantly teaching, incorporating his vast industry knowledge with many life lessons. Goal setting and quarterly meetings are just another example of Cory's thoughtful approach to teaching. He never sends a rider into the ring without being overly prepared. Cory works tirelessly to make sure horse and rider are performing at their absolute best. He also provides direction and advice on everything from navigating the show circuit to the buy versus lease decision. It's no surprise that he is a well sought after trainer. The support staff at NBF is awesome as well. There can't be a better group of grooms anywhere. They take great care of the horses and everyone feels lucky to have them part of the team. Newbury Farm is small by design and a wonderful farm to be a part of. The clientele is a great mix of juniors and adults sharing their love of horses. Cory and Jean give such specialized service, which makes it a truly unique and special place.

Cory and Jean are awesome, and are far from snobs and ditzes. Not only are they great riders, they are great teachers, and are always friendly and easy to talk to. The way Cory teaches is superb- he always gives both praise and criticism, but the critique is never harsh and is expressed positively, and he never becomes frustrated, no matter how many times you have messed up or if you are running out of time. My mom has a horse in training there, and rides frequently, but I've only had a few lessons; yet my riding is already improving, and my ambition and willpower has risen to higher levels thanks to Cory and Jean's pep talks. This is a truly unique barn!

Our small crew included myself, my daughter, and my girlfriend. We were greeted at the ranch by the very hospitable hosts, David and Jessica Martin. The riding package included a delicious western meal prepared by David eaten outdoors where everyone knows that food tastes best! Jessica provided a very informative overview of horsemanship that refreshed my memory of being around horses and provided new information to the the rest of us who had a bit less riding than I had, although I'm by no means an expert. Jessica's knowledge of horses is amazing. We each rode on a horse that was hand selected by Jessica based on observing each of us in the paddock on horseback before setting out on the trails. The pace of our ride was comfortable enough for anyone with a bit more riding experience but not too fast for those with less experience. Our horses were beautiful and well trained. One thing that I noticed early on about the Martin Family Ranch was how CLEAN the barn and stall were and how loving cared for the horses were. I loved the fact while the ranch and its horses are a business with money to be made, the well-being of the horses at the ranch is of paramount concern to David and Jessica. We would love to go back to the ranch again some day for more riding!

I'm writing this a few days after my experience and am still smiling. At first, I actually drove right past their property because it was so beautiful that I thought it was someone's beautiful home with well-kept grounds. Jess greeted me outside. We chatted a bit about what I should expect for the day. I was surprised when she said they had prepared lunch for me. When I say they prepared a lunch, I don't mean crackers and cheese on a plate with grapes, which is always lovely. What I mean is they grilled delicious meats, prepared potatoes, as well as a fresh cucumber and tomato salad! They sat with me at the picnic table and we got to know each other a bit while we ate. Jess decided which horse she thought would be best for me. I got Gorgeous George. She chose wisely. All of their horses are gorgeous. They look so healthy and vibrant! David and Jess believe in the importance of the horse and rider getting familiar with each other. To do so, you have to spend some intimate time with each other. I was shown how to brush the horse (for different reasons and with different brushes); how to clean the horses hooves; and how to walk the horse. To be clear, I was shown how to do these things and then did these things. Then I got to ride the horse in the ring. By the time I got to the ring, I was so much more relaxed with George than I was when I first met him. David determined that I was ready to hit the short trail, so the 3 of us rode off. They both determined I was ready for the longer, more challenging trail. What a challenging, but fantastic rest of the day! We had a 2 hour adventurous ride through the trails and waters. I'm not an overly experienced rider. I've only done trail rides, and only started doing those as an adult. I've done those trail rides in NH, TX, AZ, etc. This was like no trail ride I've ever done. The scenery is great, the instruction is great, and the people are great. They love their horses, and care about their riders having a unique, safe, and beautiful day. I cannot wait to return!
